Landed
Hey, kolesnow here this is the start of my second book hopefully this one is good lol

Trigger warning this book deals with self harm, bullying, the works.
I lay here my barely aware of my surroundings listening to “Metropolis” by David Archileta do not judge me its a good song. This is my first time flying alone, I'm flying as an unattended minor but I still feel uneasy as I'm accustomed flying with my mom.
It hasn't been the same since she died but it wasn't something I was not prepared for. Mom battled seizures for years when I was 9 years old the car my mom was driving had a blow-out of the left front tiers . I was sitting in front passenger seat as the car began to skid into a pole but in a split second my mother's arms were wrapped around me tightly her shoulder blade skull took most of the impact while I received a mere fractured pinkie toe.
Three months and six surgeries later my Mom was able to come home but three weeks later she was back in after a seizure. She was given medication for it, but one week before she died (a month ago) it just stopped working.
The doctors told us that there is nothing they could do about it so she spent the next month and a half she had to live at out doing the things that she always wanted to do. I cherish the times we had together, making snow men in the winter, surfing in the Caribbean. I remember this one time we went hang gliding in Brazil, I talked her into it by telling her I’ll cook for a week when we get home to Canada. You should have seen the look on her face when the instructor myself and two other muscular locals pushed her off the cliff. Rumer has it she broke a man’s glasses with her high pitched scream before she landed. Best vacation ever!!!
But on the flip side It was our last vacation together . I remember the night she died like it was seconds ago she looked at me with big hazel eyes and spoke in a soft monotone voice. “Dice when I die take my savings and go to your dad in Miami he will take you in,”. I didn't protest because I knew it hurt her as much as it hurt me as she looked away from me letting her black wavy hair cover her now saddened face I through my arms around her cold oxygen tubes being an un comfortable but not unfamiliar addition to her face .
The plane suddenly vibrated and swooped down. I honestly love turbulence it makes me feel alive although on a six hour flight it can get a bit old.
Finally the flight attendant has announced that we have just landed in Miami and what ever the temperature is. I put my phone in my pocket and pulled my knapsack from under the seat in front of me as I refuse to put my stuff in the over head bins as it just creates more traffic leaving the aircraft. Leaving customs I get a head ache trying to find my way of the airport after exiting I scan for my dad hopefully he has my name on one of those oversized name tags.
I examine the group of people waiting for their relatives, old friends and pen pals until my eyes stick on this tall slender man with grey eyes and jet black hair which was ridiculously over jelled. He held my name in his hands “Dice Walker”.
His eyes met mine and a half a smile started its way across his face as he signalled for me to come towards him. He introduced himself as my father and helped me load my luggage into the trunk of his Audi rs4 avant . The drive to his house was uneventful although I mentally noted that he has the same taste in music as I do as he played a mix of within temptations and playlist from his phone through the speakers in the Audi.
He showed me to my room but I didn't pay attention much as I dropped myself down onto the full-sized bed and dozed off
*****
“What where am I? Oh yea I'm at my Dad's place, right” I say in my head . I get of the bed and examine my room. On my right there is a black wooden bedside table and this huge abstract acrylic painting of a woman.
“Knock! knock!”
“Come in!” I respond
My dad walks in with a cheerful contagious smile on his face as he said happy birthday son. Right today is my birthday
“Thanks dad” I say in a slightly chirpy voice while smiling along with him. Then the smile dropped off his face.
”You smile just like your mother” he said with half a smile. I got the urge to ask him what happened between the two of them.
“Breakfast is ready downstairs” he said while signalling me to follow him cutting off my curiosity.
“So you’re into art?” trying to break the silence because I’m terrible at conversation although some find me chatty #iwonder.
“Yea,” he replied appearing quite bubley, “My dad, your grandad was a brilliant artist made literally tens of thousands off of one art piece. He taught me everything he knew, its not something that I need to do to pay the bills but its a great way to relax and put some extra money in our pockets at the same time,” be mindful he is saying all this while putting food on his plate. “So .... um I was wondering if you would like me to um .... teach you the Walker family style technique.”
“Yes, I’d love that I’ve always wanted to further my artistic skill with professional training,” I say maintaining eye contact while sliding a burnt peace of toast on to my plate, poor toast, I could literally crack someone’s skull with this shit. Dad’s eyes widened and he was practically bouncing up and down right now.
Just then a cherpy voice came from behind me “Ohio gozahimas Brice san!!” I doubled over in uncontrollable laughter for a sec because she just looked so adorable. She was basically a 4ft 8 cute anime character not just in personality in looks too with her big blue eyes and her brunette hair in in long locks about waist length. How does her neck stay upright? . Then I realized that she called me Brice. “Ohio, but my name is Dice not Brice” her eyes widened before she bolted out of the dining room pulling dad along with her.
I’ve managed to last until she left the room where I start laughing dramatically unable to contain my self anymore. Contrary to what you may think I’m actually a die hard Anime fan. My favorites at the moment are Owari No Seraph World triger and Gunslinger stratous to name a few.
Dad and the girl walk into the room and I immediately act normal. “Dice this is your adopted sister Charlize.” said dad I extend my hand for a hand shake her hand but instead she pulls me in for a hug and I hug her back. She is an extremely great huger though not too much gorilla not too I’m afraid to break you.
“Happy Birthday ni- san!”
“Thanks Lize!” then she releases me quickly I’m not sure if it was just me but her face seemed to turn pale for a second or two before she practically runs away. I swear I don’t understand girls.
I turn to my dad who is currently washing and tell him I’ll be upstairs if he needs me.
I take a shower, change into a Golden state vest and sweat pants and pack my clothes in the closet. I look at my watch and see that it’s already half past one in afternoon wasn’t it just 10:30 A.M.
I head downstairs and find lize laying on the couch with her face totally submerged in a manga. I may be to tally hypocritical but that is the position of an addict.
“Hey lize!” I say while waving my hand front of her manga before she slaps it away without responding. I chuckle her relatable posture when dad called me over to couch that he was sitting on watching soccer.
“Dice, how exactly are you so cool and calm after that happened? ”Dad said while Lize spun around to look at the two of us with wide eyes
“I probably would have committed suicide weeks ago if it wasn’t for a note my mom left for me.
It read My son, I know it will be hard for you but just remember that I love you always. You will get a fresh start in Miami with your dad. Don’t try to forget me but remember me. Remember me, for all of the good times times, remember me for our love. Always look to the future but never turn your back on the ones you love.
But I just ask one thing. Be someone who I can be proud of, I always knew you were born for greatness. Now go and prove me right!
Love Mom.”
