Kendall Sutter is terrified of death, of dying. 

How could she not be? All her life she's lost people, lost friends and family, lost loved ones in the worst of ways. 

And after a lifetime of loss, the twenty year old [back then] decided that the risk isn't worth it anymore. It's not worth it to go outside and risk being run over by a car, or mugged, or kidnapped, or hit with a freak meteor strike. 

It's not worth it to go out and make friends, form relationships, because in the end there's only death. And with death can only come sadness and pain. 

So why bother? Why take any of these risks when it's safer to just stay inside, where you're protected from the harshness of the outside world. Kendall just doesn't have the energy or willpower to face everything that comes with the outside world, with reality. In fact, she's been so solitary for the past three years that she may as well be dead to everyone else. 

Well, I guess it's time someone brings her back to life; someone in the form of Parker Jameson.
