Or will the unexpected falling in love thing with your cold boss? Haha... not quite.
Review: 🌟🌟🌟🌟☆ 4/5
I read the book in about a month or so and as i reached towards the end... i couldnt put it down! The story has its ups and downs. First id like to say, congrats to the author Sir Robert for doing a well done job of narrating the inside mind of a girl! You got us completely fooled haha! Also, i love how the story progresses and it keeps the reader attached to the characters. I laughed and laughed and laughed throughout reading but until the end... i wanted to cry (still do). This book made me have a reading slump... i havent been able to pick up another book and read like i did with this one. Fantastic!
However, there are downsides to this book.
First, the fact that nobody notices that 'Mr Linton' is a girl is bizzare! Like the side characters are so stupid to think that a man dressed as a girl was so convincing without stopping to realise that HE is not a MAN! Well, my forehead became red and sore many times because of the amount of palm slapping ive been doing. And besides its not a big deal, it only lasts till the 10th chp and no, nobody figures it out. Haha...
Also, towards the end, when lilly and Mr Ambrose have that mission to do... i found it hard to understand the action. I mean... some of the old instruments/ vehicles of that time were explained well, however... i couldnt understand the whole railing thing with the draisine (i think its called?) Like how can u lay down in that? Also, i found the whole chase cringy and cheesy lol and im sure it was supposed to be protrayed like that lol.
Id like to talk about the main character, she is NOT your average flimsy girl who needs a man in her life so i guess that MUST be a good enough reason to love her.
Ha... i feel like people are gonna attack me for saying this...
But Rikkard Ambrose... aint my type.
In fact, i fell for him by the time lilly did. Actually no. Maybe not. Idk.
Its not like hes a bad character but i think it was because of how he was described, 'cold', 'hard', 'Greek statue'? (Dont ask me)
But when they talk (lilly and ambrose) i found their conversation very funny and sarcastic, it was like watching a sitcom and theres the audience at the back laughing. But i imagined ambrose to smile in those convos and that was very attractive until! Lilly described him as a man who never smiled. And that just did it.
I mean i love it when he gets angry! Those are my fav parts. But i dont like him pushing lilly to the wall every arguement they have. My opinion. But when u see those small moments where he shows how much he cares abt lilly that just makes my heart jump! But the ending!!! The ending made me love him!! WHY COULDNT THEY SAY I LOVE YOU?!!
Yes... they never got round to actually saying that. Lol.
When i first was recc this book, i found out it had abt 9 BOOKS IN THE SERIES! And i was like i aint gonna read that! But i thought maybe i should give the 1st book a try and NOT read the rest of the series.... haa.... see you later at my review of the 2nd book. Bye!
