Chapter 7

It has almost been 2 months since I have seen Jake. I haven’t received any calls or letters since he had called asking for my advice for something I forgot long ago. The visions have been slower however there has been a presence that entered Nevell that caused me to have the most powerful sight of the gruesome war that either happened in the past or was soon to come.

It had knocked me unconscious for almost a week and Ian's sister Sydney, who said he was going crazy looking through hundreds of books next to me until he could find out what was happening to me. He was the first person I saw when I woke up but as glad as I was he was there I couldn’t help but to wonder if Jake still cared about me.

Tonight was the Halloween ball and it was my birthday today. I still looked the same but by human customs there would’ve been a celebration and they would've given the young age of 17 as my human age. As trivial as it was I wondered if Jake would’ve come to see me bringing me back a present from the human world, or at least call.

I looked at blue ball gown I was supposed to be wearing tonight and couldn’t help but think of Jake standing next to me. He knew how much I wanted to go to this event. He was supposed to be here. I stood up and left my cottage walking to the stables. I grabbed the reigns of Libya and galloped off to the mansion.

When I reached the house I dropped Libya t the stables and walked towards the lake that doubled as a portal. The last time I had been here was even we witnessed what we thought was Evianna pushing Kathalina down to earth. Painful memories never felt more like a safe haven for me now.

I stared at my reflection and couldn’t help to think my human body was prettier than me. The fact it could age, it wad fragile like glass unlike my true form that never really aged or die.

Lucillia.

The whispers felt light and pure for once that I actually started crying. When I turned around there was a rose that felt familiar but I knew it wasn’t from Jake. It felt old wise and sad at the same time. I touched the thorn and my finger bled then healed itself in a second.

I picked up the card and I read it smiling.

Lucillia,

I wish you best on this day of your birth almost two centuries ago. Your mother would’ve been proud to see how you have turned into a fine young angle and I will watch over you like a father. I realize that things maybe happening to you but I know you can feel your mother trying to help you from where she is.

Sincerely, Donovan

I wasn’t creeped out that someone has been watching me. I knew the person whether it was from my mother’s life or my own. I can trust him. I felt it in my soul. I was also happy he wished me a happy birthday, that was sweet but how did he find me?

I smelled the deep crimson rose and it smelled so sweet it felt like my body was waking up. It was like I knew the smell and my wings fought to get out. I tried to fight it back but it over powered me and sprung out. I gasped staring at the color, instead of its normal gray coloring it was gray with red swirls everywhere and were glowing. It looked beautiful.

I walked to the mansion and flew up the stairs to me room and gasped when I looked at myself in the mirror. I was wearing a silk V-line dress and had a drop in the back that looked beautiful. I put my hair up and let my bangs down on the side of my face and smiled at how beautiful I looked, not to be conceited or anything.

The doorbell rang and I felt my heart pound. Could Jake be back? I ran down the stairs and opened the doors to see Ian dressed like a vampire. His hair was slicked back and he was dressed very well. I hoped I hid my disappointment well but I was happy to see him.

"Wow, you look...wow."I he said tongue tied. I tucked a piece of my hair back.

"I hope wow is a good thing" I said smiling.

"Yes finely," he said holding out his arm for a second before I took it. I closed the door to the mansion and left.

He must have forgotten. Jake do I still mean something to you?

***A/N: so I was originally going to stop here and then thought “wow I haven’t posted in a long time they deserve more pages than two for a Halloween special” so thus the rest of this chapter came to be here… (:  enjoy! ***

The ball was supposed to be an extravagant party where the “gods” and “goddesses” of all religions were supposed to come together. What most humans didn’t realize was that the witches, vampires, and werewolves they obsess over are actually real, they just live in a different dimension. God saw how they strong they were compared to the fragile humans he created.

He tried to give them a chance to coexist but it didn’t have such a great outcome so he decided to give them their own world. Today October 31st is the one day a year that they come to Nevell, the land between heaven, hell, and earth.

Ian led me into a horse drawn carriage and I took a deep breath. It was techniually a masquerade because knowing the identity of people was very dangerous. God forbid if a witch were to see my face once and be able to channel the memory of me and switch places. It’s just a bad thing.

I put my mask on and Ian put on his as the carriage stopped. I took Ian’s hand as he escorted me to what humans would think is a mansion four times larger than the white house, where apparently the United States President’s live with his family.

As I entered the big white doors the lights were dim and an orchestra was playing nearby some classical music. There were many people with masks on fake costumes and some real but it was hard to separate the real from fake.

People made space for Ian and I causing me to raise an eyebrow at me and he shrugged leading us through the path the people made for us. There were so many faces, which is crazy because you couldn’t even see it but the vibes most of them carried was sinister making cringe into Ian’s side.

He didn’t seem bothered by the presences but maybe that was because he was part demon. I stared in front of me and stopped when I saw a girl just standing in a white dress looking at me. She was smiling before a person blocked my sight from her for a second and she was gone.

I turned around and noticed Ian wasn’t by my side anymore and I could feel panic bubble in my stomach. Everyone’s voices were getting louder and louder as I tried to make my way through the crowd. Even with the loudness all around me there was a distinct whisper.

“Lucillia,” it whispered stopping me cold in my tracks. My head turned around and I could see the girl I saw earlier standing by a big white door before slipping behind the big doors. I followed her almost on instinct.

As I entered the doors I was transported into a room with an indoor garden. It was a maze but of roses. I could hear the girl laugh gently and I followed. She urged me on by calling my real name, Lucillia.

I followed the girl deeper into the maze and I had a feeling it was my mother. I looked all around me trying to figure out where she was calling me from.

“Mom? Is that you?” I asked calling out her as she called out my name, Lucillia. I ended with three paths in front of me and something inside of me urged me to follow the right path, however the middle felt almost like it the right one to take. I heard the whisper call out my name but instead of the two paths I felt were right, it came from the left path.

The path felt to have a tense feeling but the voice was so sweet that I followed it. The once plentiful garden of roses was now becoming a maze of thorns. My dress was getting caught on some of the thorns as the path was becoming narrower.

I knew I should’ve turned back as soon as I saw so many thorns but I couldn’t. Something was urging me to continue and at the end of the path the girl stood there turned away from me. She was not actually the size of a girl but a woman. She had long light brown hair similar to mine and my heart began to race.

“Mom?” I asked walking slowly to her. I hesitated for some reason before touching her shoulder. She felt cold like ice and I could hear her lightly crying.

“Mom, is that really you?” I asked turning her around only to see her face was not of what my memories gave me. It was a face of a corpse rotting and screaming in pure agony before falling down to the ground of my feet.

I covered my mouth to muffle my scream. I could hear a girl giggling and I turned around to see a girl no older than 14 or 15 in front me. She had bright red lipstick and was wearing a black dress with a red sash.  She was wiping tears from her eyes but was smiling, laughing.

“Oh your just too easy,” she laughed and I backed away slightly causing her to look at me with her bright red eyes that matched the color of her lipstick.

“You like what I did there?” she laughed.

“That witch knew that her death would come as soon as you touched her and wasn’t able to even scream out to not touch her. Just hysterical!” she laughed sadistically. I stared at the body on the floor and fought the tears that threatened to come out from killing someone. I turned my attention to glaring at the evil girl in front of me.

“Aww don’t keep your face that way Lucillia, it might stay that way.” She cooed at me. The way she said my name made me shiver in disgust.

“How do you know my name?” I asked my voice sounding stronger than I felt.

“Oh you wouldn’t want to know that long boring story.” She said walking around me in a circle. My eyes locked on her never leaving for a second.

“Well if you insist, the way I know your name is from that little mother of yours. God, she would not shut up about you!” she laughed.

“How do you know my mother?” I growled and she glowered at me for a moment like that glare offended her.

“Oh would you really wish to know how I killed her? Burning her in the baby room that was supposed to be your room? Or how she begged for her precious Lucillia to be saved. Oh Lucinda was an idiot alright. She just cried out, “Lucillia, my baby. God protect her!”

“To be honest I’m not even sure how you made it alive but you were supposed to die with her. Better late than never, however I want to make you suffer first like your mother did. But since you don’t have a child I’ll have to go after your little boyfriend. Jake was it?” she asked and my breath hitched.

“No,” I breathed and she smiled.

“Oh yes, he looks very delicious looking if you know what I’m saying,” she said wiggling her eyebrows. My legs could no longer support me as my knees hit the ground. She stared at me for a second almost looking like she was trying to figure out something.

“You slut!” she cried out all of a sudden. I looked at her confused.

“You’re with Ian now too! Oh hell no, b/tch he is mine! Stay away from him or else.” She narrowed her burning red eyes, as her lips curled back showing no teeth but two full rows of canines. Suddenly it hit me. She was the “animal” that was attacking people.

Her long straight black hair looked almost like a mirage in the light. The way that witch had died made me think that she was already dead before I touched her. Her face was contorted did resemble something that could be confused as an attack.

“You’re the one killing all those people in the forest.” I said suddenly allowing my thoughts to be heard.

“So you’ve heard of me then?” she said smiling all of sudden.

“That Nico di Angelo boy looked pretty yummy too. Maybe he'll be my breakfast before I kill him like all those other people. After all…” she led off and before my eyes she began growing, maturing into a young woman. Her hair war longer, her chest was well bigger, her legs long, her body thin, and her face was gorgeous. Trust me I’m no les or bi but she looked drop dead gorgeous.

“No one has been able to with hold my charm.” She said while adding an extra coat of red lipstick on her lips. She looked at me straight in the eye and I felt myself getting heavier. She walked closer. Her red heels clacking as she walked closer to me.

“Don’t worry darling,” she said gripping my wrist tightly cutting off blood circulation. I could feel something crawling up my wrist and I screamed trying to get it out of me. I tried wiping off the feeling but it was still there.

“This will remind you every day that on December 31st by next year, your life shall be taken by none other than me. Or sooner, depending on how bored I get. And if you ask your mother she would tell you its very real but oh wait. That’s right you can’t, your mother’s dead because I killed her.” She said pausing before letting me go and laughing manically as I stared at me arm that was showing my veins. But they were pulsating black.

I felt a gust of air before nothing. Nothing at all.
