Every Book I DNFed In 2019
In case some of you don't know what DNF means, it means Did Not Finish, and these are all of the books I did not finish in 2019 and why.
The Kiss
Book Description:
Whit and Wisty Allgood, a witch and wizard with extraordinary abilities, have defeated the ruthless dictator who long overshadowed their world. But for the first time in their lives, the powerful brother and sister find themselves at odds as Wisty is drawn to a mysterious and magical stranger named Heath.
Wisty has never felt as free as she does with Heath, especially when the two of them share and test their magic together. But when a merciless Wizard King from the mountains suddenly threatens war, Wisty must make an excruciating choice. Will she unite with Whit to fight the mounting dangers that could return their world to a tyrant's domain? Or will she trust the beautiful boy who has captured her heart?
James Patterson's epic dystopian saga continues as the witch and wizard who have inspired countless imaginations must rally together before the world they fought to save collapses.

So this was the first book I DNFed in 2019 from what I can remember. This book is the final book in the Witch and Wizard series, I think.
I think I got like fifteen pages in before I DNFed it, and this was a really big book.
The reason I DNFed it was because of THE FREAKING INSTA LOVE!!!!!
Seriously! The insta-love in this was really bad, like really bad.
Immediately, within the first three pages of this book, I could tell who the love interest was going to be.
And there was another character who was also her love interest, and I didn't really like them as love interests but at least they knew each other!
The scene where the guy is trying to flirt with her or they are just talking felt like it was written by a fanfiction writer, and not in a good way. AND JAMES PATTERSON IS A PROFESSIONAL AUTHOR!
I couldn't even get through the first chapter, and I tried, I really did but I was just cringing the whole way through.
I also think I might just have gotten tired of the series since I just read the other 3 books.
And I liked how the story ended in the third book, I don't feel like there needed to be a fourth one. It would've just been better off as a trilogy.
Wait how many books are there in the series-
...
Max
Description:
James Patterson's bestselling Maximum Ride series is back, with Max and the gang as The Protectors. Their objective: Rescue Max's activist mom from a wicked subterranean enemy. The hitch: They must dive deep into dark waters, where gruesome evil dwells... and for high-flying Maximum Ride, could there be anything more terrifying than being trapped in the great abyss? This soaring new adventure takes Maximum Ride and the Flock into terrifying new territory--fans, hold your breath!

So the reason I DNFed this book was just because I got tired of the series.
I read all of the books in order without any other books in between and I just got tired of this series, I needed something fresh.
I also feel like the series was a bit stretched out? Like we started with these mutant bird children trying to escape their captors and then moved on to a story preaching about climate change and pollution.
I do think that it is important to make books about serious topics in the world and stories about climate change are important, I just don't think this was the right series.
I think that if you are going to make a book about climate change then make an entirely different series about a conservationist who travels the world to help save the envirement or something along those lines. Make new, fresh and exciting characters but don't take an already existing series and then turn it into a story about climate change.
The Armour of Achilles
Book Description:
The siege of Troy is in its 10th year, in the third book continuing from King of Ithaca and The Gates of Troy The Greeks, with Achilles at their head, have inflicted numerous defeats on the Trojans, but Troy itself still stands. Dispirited, bitter, and frustrated by the war, Odysseus and his men think lovingly of home. But while Agammenon is still determined to avenge himself upon Troy for the theft of Helen by Paris, they are all trapped by the oath that Odysseus created. Eperitus, captain of Odysseus' guards, is tormented by his oath—to protect the very man who murdered his daughter. When Agamemnon is threatened with mutiny by a disillusioned army he changes his tactics, ordering a series of attacks on the allies of Troy, thus depriving the city of reinforcements, trade, and supplies—but even this cannot draw the Trojans out from behind their walls. When Agamemnon angers the formidable Achilles, the battle for Troy seems doomed to failure. For it's only through the strength of their golden warrior that the pride of the Trojans will finally fall.

The reason why I DNFed this book is...
I forgot about it
Basically, I read the prologue, read some of the first chapter, and then found another book I was really interested in and just started reading that instead.
So I didn't DNF it because I don't like it, just because I found something I was more interested in at the time.
I do want to continue this book, but I'll do it when I'm in the mood for it. Currently, it's on my TBR. I bought it so I can read it whenever I want.

The reason I DNFed this book was because of
FREAKING INSTA-LOVE!
I cannot stress how much I HATE insta-love
Maybe I'm overreacting, but to me, it felt like June and Day fell for each other almost instantly.
I loved this book, and I was really enjoying it and I thought the plot and characters were well written and unique, the insta-love just killed it for me
The Daylight War
Book Description:
On the night of the new moon, the demons rise in force, seeking the deaths of two men both of whom have the potential to become the fabled Deliverer, the man prophesied to reunite the scattered remnants of humanity in a final push to destroy the demon corelings once and for all.
Arlen Bales was once an ordinary man, but now he has become something more—the Warded Man, tattooed with eldritch wards so powerful they make him a match for any demon. Arlen denies he is the Deliverer at every turn, but the more he tries to be one with the common folk, the more fervently they believe. Many would follow him, but Arlen's path threatens to lead him to a dark place he alone can travel to, and from which there may be no returning.
The only one with hope of keeping Arlen in the world of men, or joining him in his descent into the world of demons, is Renna Tanner, a fierce young woman in danger of losing herself to the power of demon magic.
Ahmann Jardir has forged the warlike desert tribes of Krasia into a demon-killing army and proclaimed himself Shar'Dama Ka, the Deliverer. He carries ancient weapons—a spear and a crown—that give credence to his claim, and already vast swaths of the green lands bow to his control.
But Jardir did not come to power on his own. His rise was engineered by his First Wife, Inevera, a cunning and powerful priestess whose formidable demon bone magic gives her the ability to glimpse the future. Inevera's motives and past are shrouded in mystery, and even Jardir does not entirely trust her.
Once Arlen and Jardir were as close as brothers. Now they are the bitterest of rivals. As humanity's enemies rise, the only two men capable of defeating them are divided against each other by the most deadly demons of all—those lurking in the human heart.

So why did I DNF this book?
Because by just reading the first few pages I knew I wouldn't enjoy this book.
It was..... yeah
There were a lot of words I knew I wouldn't remember, it was really obvious there would be sex scenes in future parts of the book, and I just felt uncomfortable reading it
But who knows, I could be wrong.
