Three Dark Crowns: Kendare Blake
I'm back. Yes it has been a while because I have been having writers block. Anyway, I am here to review the 1st book in the Three Dark Crowns Trilogy.
First off, Disclaimer: I didn't finish it. I got 199 pages in and I just stopped. I couldn't get into the writing style. People have to me that it is similar to the Red Queen. Alas, I didn't even finish Red Queen. But, being me, I always pick up the newer, lot of attention books. I wondered if it was worth the hype. But I just couldn't finish it.
Basically, its about these three sisters competing for the throne. I know. It sounds awesome. But I was expecting so much out of it, that when nothing major happened, I was kinda not feeling it.
Here is the synopsis: In every generation on the island of Fennbirn, a set of triplets is born- three queens, all equal heirs to the crown and each possessor of a coveted magic. Mirabella is a fierce elemental, able to spark flames or storms. Katharine is a poisoner, one who can ingest the deadliest poisons without so much a stomachache. Arsinoe, a naturalist, is said to have the ability to bloom the reddest rose and control the fiercest lions. But becoming the Queen Crowned isn't solely a matter of royal birth. Each sister has to fight for it. And it's not just a game of win or lose... it's life or death. The night the sisters turn sixteen, the battle begins.
I don't know about you, but this sounded cool. Before I read it. I am not hating. This is MY opinion. So I think I'm going to give it 2 out of 5 stars, which I rarely do. And I am sorry to all the die heart fans that love it. But I would still recommend picking it up, even though not everyone enjoyed it. If you are into fantasy, politics and adventure in you books, then by all means, pick it up.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my rant on why I don't like this book. But there is 2 more, so if you like it, there is always more. Bye
