5. It ends with us.
This book is everywhere!
My curiosity got the best of me & I finally purchased it. I like the cover though :)
Lily grew up in an abusive household, where her father continuously abused her mother. There was a scene which I'd not be discussing about but it happens after her parents return from a party & that scene broke my heart.
From a young age Lily promises herself, she'd not end up like her mother but she ends up with an abusive man, Ryle. She keeps on making excuses for his abuse, until, her first love Atlas comes back into her life to rescue her but by that time she's pregnant with Ryle's baby.
My very raw opinion about this book:
1. I can't really judge Collen's writing from this book alone but in my honest opinion, it felt like a fan fiction. It was a very easy & quick read though.
2. The Ellen letters were annoying, it'd have been better if they were diary entries instead.
3. The amount of Scrubs mentioned in the book was insane! I get it Ryle is a doctor he wears scrubs to work. Enough!
4. Allysa aka Ryle's sister just popping out of the blue & deciding she'll work for Lily was utterly unbelievable (Allysa is married to millionaire).
5. At 30 years old! Ryle is turning into a neurosurgeon? Okay! Here me out I'm not a medical professional but I know this is impossible 😂 or maybe, he started med school when he was 10.
I think this book is over hyped & I really don't know why, but I like the ending because Lily finally gets the courage to leave Ryle right after she gives birth to their daughter. Ending the chain of abuse.
People say this book glorifies abuse but for me it just teaches us that it's very hard for people who are abused to come out of an abusive relationship. It just shows how much strength & willpower is needed by an individual to finally get out of an abusive relationship. Because if we're the victim of abuse, we don't see it ourselves that way until it's too late.
I'd rate this book two stars ⭐️⭐️ only because the author wrote this story based on the life of her parents, where her father abused her mother but thankfully, her mother got the strength to get out of the abusive relationship when the author was three.

Wrecking ball by Miley Cyrus is the definition of Lily & Ryle's relationship. Enough said.

We clawed, we chained, our hearts in vain
We jumped, never asking why
We kissed, I fell under your spell
A love no one could deny
Don't you ever say I just walked away
I will always want you
I can't live a lie, running for my life
I will always want you
I came in like a wrecking ball
I never hit so hard in love
All I wanted was to break your walls
All you ever did was wreck me
Yeah, you, you wreck me
I put you high up in the sky
And now, you're not coming down
It slowly turned, you let me burn
And now, we're ashes on the ground
Don't you ever say I just walked away
I will always want you
I can't live a lie, running for my life
I will always want you
I came in like a wrecking ball
I never hit so hard in love
All I wanted was to break your walls
All you ever did was wreck me
I came in like a wrecking ball
Yeah, I just closed my eyes and swung
Left me crashing in a blazing fall
All you ever did was wreck me
Yeah, you, you wreck me
I never meant to start a war
I just wanted you to let me in
And instead of using force
I guess I should've let you win
I never meant to start a war
I just wanted you to let me in
I guess I should've let you win
Don't you ever say I just walked away
I will always want you
I came in like a wrecking ball
I never hit so hard in love
All I wanted was to break your walls
All you ever did was wreck me
I came in like a wrecking ball
Yeah, I just closed my eyes and swung
Left me crashing in a blazing fall
All you ever did was wreck me
Yeah, you, you wreck me
Yeah, you, you wreck me
