Run
"Run " by Kody Keplinger.
Review:
"None of that mattered because, for that moment, running through the cornfield, holding tight to Bo's hand- I felt alive, I felt wild, I felt...free."
This novel is based on two unlikely best friends in a small and almost inescapable town of Musery. Bo is this 'rebellious' girl with a troubled past who has this wild reputation because her last name happens to be Dickinson and Agnes is this soft sweet girl who happens to be blind which in some way makes her an angel in the small town. You as an audience are indulged in this story where you find out not only about Bo's past and present life behind closed doors, but you see Agnes's more outgoing personality. Agnes is constantly overprotected by her parents and her one and only best friend made it clear she was more of a burden then a bestie. Bo is constantly critizied as shameful names are hurled her way. When Bo has to leave town, Agnes doesn't hesitate to come with her. The reader is brought between both the past of the two friends and the present troubles the two have to currently face as they 'run' from what was once their town, but never their home.
This is a very interesting and humorous story but there are also many sad events which will make you think more with your heart than your head in certain events. It didn't exactly make me cry because it seemed too unrealistic to be true but that is exactly the point. This story seems as if though it would never happen but it makes you think that it could be happening. That somewhere in the world somewhere else, there are two best friends trying to escape an inescapable village, city, or small town. It's a moving story with some pretty light-hearted events that just urge you as a reader to want to jump out of your own comfort zone and explore the world. To make a change in someone's life, or to stand up to you social standards and change your own life. A good book gets you thinking as a reader in the real world.
This is a good book.
