Black Petals

"Black Petals" written by Gray Hollyville (bitterwishes)

Review:

"I was meant to be a monster."

My first thought when checking out this book was very hesitant. I was nervous I would not be able to remember all the abilities certain people had but don't get me wrong, I loved the fact that she added all these little details. It was as if she were fabricating an actual realm, a world in which her characters story began, which is so cool!

The prlouge had me hooked, such intricate detail and an amazing concept of the fragile dolls people may see princess as. At first you are hooked by the detail of these poreclien pieces of art but then you are more indulged in how the character thinks about herself, being a "monster".

This is a really unique story about a girl named Blisslily Aspen, who goes by Blaze Aspen, is a slave with a confusing backstory. She used to live a life of lies as a princess who had to deal with the troubled mind of her father and the trusting smile of her mother. Her memories are glorified but glossed over as she had no clue how she ended up waking up in an ally, destined to live her life as a slave. This is an ongoing story but I'm really intrested to see how this plot plays out. Gray  Hollyville has a great gift at making the reader see the main characters life through their eyes. Truely great.

There are very few grammical errors, too! Something I would suggest is the fact that we could maybe use more details when it comes to the memories Blaze has. Maybe how the  main character was feeling in the moment. For example is she was hiding you could speak about the dry timid air around her or the wood of a wardrobe pushing against her flesh. I reccomend this book to readers who realy love fantasy with a twist.
