So how this idea came to be was that I was watching someone's speedpaint of Philey.
(It isn't actually the video above, but it's from the same person)

there was a song on there called "Let Her Go" and it made me think of "Philey" angst

This angst is where Phil is a popular kid and Philey does not exist.

So Smiley commits s*****e in this AU because no one likes her.

Phil lies and says that he did... only after she died.

He doesn't like her at all because she was considered a "loser".

Phred and Zack catch on with this and get 5 (who isn't an asshole in this one wow). They sing this and Phil gets sad about lying.

Phil becomes a "loser" and learns his lesson about lying.

Old version of the Epilogue: Phred tells Phil that he actually liked smiley (which is not true in the final version).
