Under the tree of feelings sat Dream sitting on his knee wearing a short white dress with a gold sun and star theme. Just staring ahead, unmoving, as two figures stood face to face at each other in some kind of game. Standing on the right is Nightmare, his lavender pupils narrowing at his doubleganger with so much hate in his eye lights. Said doppelgänger stands on the left, staring back at Nightmare with the same hate. The doubleganger looks similar to Nightmare but with light blue pupils, a half silver and half blue jacket just like his, a white gold belt with M on it, blue pants with yellow stars, orange boots with moon and star symbols on them. Atop his head was a white gold headpiece with a crescent moon on it.

Nightmare: I win!

Doubleganger: I win!

Nightmare: War!

Doubleganger: War!

This fight between the two continued until Dream himself woke up in fright, gasping for air. After a few minutes of waking up, he looked to the side of him to see that his brother was still asleep. Dream calmed his breathing and wrapped the sweat from his forehead as he lay back down. Despite the fact that he could not go back to sleep due to the strange dreams he has been having for multiple nights now, he is stared blankly at the night shy. Since he has been feeling a little off lately, he does not know what it could mean.

Morning

Nightmare has been becoming worried about his brother lately. Dream has been coming home from the village not himself, making Nightmare more concerned by the day. He seemed less happy, not talking as much as he used to and just staring at nothing unmoving, only blinking a few times. Nightmare tried to get his brother to tell him what's wrong, but Dream was unresponsive. This continued for days until he centered his brother for answers.

Nightmare: What's going on with you Dream? You have been acting weird lately. Please tell me why, brother. I just want to help you.

Dream: ........

Nightmare: Dream please!

Dream: Do you ever feel like you are out of place?

Nightmare: What? Dream what are you talking about?

Dream: I.... Sometimes I feel like I don't belong here.

Nightmare: Of course you belong here! Who told you this? Was it the villagers?

It was after that Dream kept silent on his brother's questions, and he would not answer any more of them. In the course of time, Nightmare began to notice his brother's condition getting worse, and he was unable to do anything to help him. One night, his brother never returned home from the village. Full of worry for his brother, Nightmare lifts the safety of their mother to find Dream. Throughout the process of looking for his brother, Nightmare felt a sense of unease the entire time he was doing so.

Feeling something is wrong, Nightmare begins to run forward non-stop until he sees the figure of his brother just standing there with his back turned to him. Nightmare slowly approaches his brother in fear, not knowing for himself what he should be afraid of.

Nightmare: Dream?

Dream slowly turned his head around with a blank expression and glowing orange eye lights. As a blue starry space portal opens behind him, a gasp of wind blows through them both. There is a look of horror on Nightmare's face as he watches what has happened.

Dream: I am not supposed to be here.

Dream turned to the portal and slowly walked towards it. With some much fear in his soul of losing his brother, Nightmare quickly ran to stop him. Dream is held back by Nightmare as he latches onto him and prevents him from entering the portal. Dream didn't stop moving, trying to get out of his brother's arms and go into the portal. Nightmare kept a firm grip on Dream and looked up at the portal to find himself.

The only thing Nightmare could feel when he saw himself on the other side was shock and confusion. The Nightmare on the other side had light blue pupils, a half silver and half blue jacket similar to his, a white gold belt with M on it, blue pants with yellow stars, orange boots with moon and star symbols on them. Atop his head was a white gold headpiece with a crescent moon on it. The other Nightmare held out his hand and stared intimidatingly at him. This only made Nightmare hold onto his brother even more.

Nightmare: No! You can't have them!

The portal begins to slowly close as the other Nightmare stares angry at his counterpart, growling. Nightmare didn't let his brother go, not until the portal finally closed. Once the portal was gone, Dream fell limb into his arms. Nightmare still stares back at where the portal was, holding on to Dream, fearing if he lets go his brother will disappear.
