Lament of the Dying
The moon waits ever bright,
As the stars shine like a fire,
The dark covers as it is night,
And the day fades like embers of a pyre.
The lights of the street,
The closed windows nearby,
The breeze to sweep you off your feet,
And the ever watching cat's eye.
I walk alone in the dark,
My mind wandering alone and away,
My feet staying true to every mark,
As I dread the coming day.
The pains of being alone,
The come forth to haunt me,
They ring sharp in my mind like a phone,
And they come like waves of the sea.
The ebb and flow of every breath,
The shrouded face under my mask,
Sunny skies pull me towards death,
While to myself I must ask.
To the world I dream of will I go,
If this world I leave behind,
Will I be free to leave it so,
If I destroy this fragile mind.
But onward I will see,
Alone on through the pain,
While though I want to flee,
More struggles I will gain.
