(h/t)- hair type
(h/c)- hair color
(e/c)- eye color
Y/N- your name

You stared at the clock longingly, like any student would. Just one more minute, and school is out for the day. Unfortunately it's only Tuesday, but any time out of school is better than being in school. At least to you it is.

Finally the bell rang. You jumped out of your seat with your things already packed. Then you rushed out of the classroom and into the hall. As soon as you were free from the building, you slowed your pace to a walk.

You had a two block walk to your house, and you weren't in a hurry. It was relaxing to walk alone for a while. Since you lived so close, your school and parents gave you permission to walk to and from school. Besides, what's the worst that could happen in two short blocks?

Just as you turned a corner, you tripped over a new pothole. You definitely hadn't remembered it being there yesterday.

You expected to fall straight on your face, and put your hands out to catch yourself. Instead of falling forward though, a bright flash made you close your eyes. You felt yourself fall backwards, and into a chair. When you finally peeked through your eyelids to see what had happened, you were greeted with a surprise.

You were in a semi large room, that reminded you of your dad's office, downtown. You were in the obvious client's chair in front of a really nice desk. Sitting neatly in front and center, was a placard that read, 'Love'. That was it. You had no idea if it meant the person's name or job title. "Both," the woman that was sitting behind the desk replied, almost as if to your thoughts. She startled you, and you jumped slightly. She smiled at you and said, "In case your wondering, 'No', I didn't read your thoughts. It's just the most wondered question when people come here. At least that's what people say. The next is, 'Is she reading my thoughts?' I just don't want you to be alarmed."

You continue to stare blankly at her. Finally you look around the office. It certainly wasn't what you expected Love's office to look like. Instead of the shades of pinks and reds and whites, her office was in hues of blues and turquoise.

Finally she asked, "Now what?", as you looked around her room questioningly. You replied, "Well I just didn't expect Love's–office is it?–to be... well, blue. Shouldn't it be pink or something?" 'Love' sighed dramatically. She seemed disappointed as she stated, "There's another one of those stupid stereotypes. For your information, I am not obsessed with pink, and I have no intention in washing my room with it."
"So your telling me that you don't like pink? What, does 'Happiness' not like yellow?"
"That's exactly what I'm telling you."
You raised one eyebrow in suspicion. "Well what does 'Happiness' like? Gray?" 'Love' shook her head and quickly replied, "Don't get it wrong, 'Happiness' is the cheeriest one around here, but he thinks that yellow is too bright for him."
"Okay, I get it. None of you are like your stereotypes portray you." Love lifted her finger in the air as she said, "On the contrary, 'Sadness' is 'Happiness'' brother and he's everything you would expect. His office is decorated in grey's and dark blue's. He's quite depressing, and his shoes actually squish with water when he walks." You raised your eyebrows in surprise and try to hold back a smile.
Finally you ask the question that really has been bothering you, "Where exactly am I?"
"Ah. There's the question I've been waiting for. You are inside Human Emotions And Happenings, or HEAH." Your brows furrowed and you asked, "What is HEAH?" She sighed as if you were dull. "I just told you. Human Emotions And Happenings."
"Want to elaborate on what that might mean?"
She sighed again and began, "HEAH is where all of the human emotions and happenings work. Hence the name. We have all kinds of emotions, Happiness and Sadness, as I mentioned earlier, and my annoying twin sister Heartbreak." Anger and frustration flashed through Love's eyes as she mumbled, "She's always breaking up the adorable couples I put together and interfering with my stuff! Don't even get me started on Valentine's Day! Worst of all, she's right across the hall!" She seemed to realize her rant and snapped out of it.
"Anyway, we also have human happenings. They're things like Death, who mind you–is actually quite nice and not at all creepy. Also Life, who is the manager around here. Not as high up as Existence, though. He is the top dog. Everything we do has to do with him, but no one has actually seen him, except Life. She disappears for awhile, and all her secretary says is that she's at a meeting." Love leaned over her desk and said the last part in a whisper.
You took in the information, but it wasn't exactly the most important to you. Finally you replied, "That's great. Now I know the corporate food chain, and the employees that work around here. Mind if I ask why I'm here? I mean, I don't exactly hear people talking about being whisked away to HEAH and having a chat with Love."
"I was just about to get to that. You see, I have on my calendar here," a calendar appeared in front of you, "that you are supposed to arrive today. So that we can have a chat about your... Drumroll please..." You sat there and stared at her. She sighed and mumbled, "Killjoy." Then she continued, "Your love life!" Your eyes widened and you immediately protested, "No way! I am not talking about my love life. Especially with you." Love looked offended and scoffed as she said, "Excuse me, I find that offensive! I thought we were friends, but I guess not. And what do you mean 'Especially with you'. Last time I checked, I am Love. If anyone should talk to you about your love life, it should be me."
"I hardly know you. How can I trust you?"
"Who am I going to tell, sweetie? Everyone I know lives here. You're my first Earth visitor."
You knew she had a point. So you gave in and said, "What is there even to talk about?"
"Exactly! There's nothing to talk about! You, little missy, need to get a relationship!"
"And how do you propose I do that?" She sat back and tapped her chin, "Hmm... Oh, I know! I have the perfect person for you. He's been on my list for a while now, actually..." She trailed off as she shuffled through papers and files.
"Ah-ha! Here he is. Why don't you take a look at that?" She handed you a file with a guy's picture on the front. He had (h/c) hair that was (h/t). His eyes were (e/c). You gasped as you realized who he was. "He's my neighbor! He's in about half my classes at school!" you exclaimed.
"Yep. Isn't it great?"
"No! It's not great! I know him!"
"That's the point sweetie. You already know him. You'll get along so well together. Just take a look inside the file. I know he's perfect for you."
You cautiously opened the file. You weren't eager to see into his personal life, but curiosity won in the end. After reading through the file, you realized Love was right. He seemed perfect. Everything you had ever looked for in a guy, and he had lived next door this entire time. But you had never even taken the time to talk to him. You sighed and looked up at Love. She smiled and knew she had completed her job.
You finally said, "Fine. I'll give him a chance." Love giggled and replied, "I know you will. It's about time for you to leave. Unfortunately. It was so much fun having you!" You were about to reply, when your chair started to tip backwards. You looked around to see that the floor had opened up behind you. As you slipped out of the chair, and fell into the darkness, you heard Love call after, "Good bye, Y/N!"

You fell into someone's arms. You peered your head up to see the boy from the file. You next door neighbor. You blushed and scrambled out of his arms. He laughed and said, "Good thing we take the same road home, or else you would probably be laying on the asphalt right now." You smiled and rushed out a thank you. He shoved his hands into his pockets and replied, "No problem. Hey, I don't remember this pothole yesterday. Is that what you tripped over?" You smiled at the pothole that had taken you to meet Love. "Yeah, I think so."
"You think so? Hmm... I think we should get you home. You might be losing your memory." You laughed and allowed him to escort you home.

Thanks to Love, you eventually got to know your neighbor very well. Love was right, he was perfect. Of course you had 'bumps in the road', but Love seemed to keep her sister at bay. You did have to break up when you both went off to separate colleges. Love couldn't keep her sister away forever, and you cried the first few weeks.

The only thing that kept you sane throughout your busy college life, was the fact that Love would invite you to her office every once in a while. You would both sit and talk, and eventually you met all of her co-workers. They were an interesting bunch, and you might have become closer to them, than you did with people on Earth. Soon college was over.

Eventually you found your true love again. You both decided to get married, and you lived a full and happy life together. When you had your first born daughter, you made her middle name Love. So that you could always remember that the first Love you met was the reason you were so happy.

"Hey, it's great to see you after all this time. You haven't aged a bit." You joked with your old friend.
"Thanks sweetie. So how are the kids?" She asked expectantly.
"A pain, but fine."
Love laughed. "Good. Wow, it's been a while hasn't it? I haven't seen you since, what, the wedding?"
"Oh yeah! That long, huh? I think I started to miss this place."
"Everyone's been asking about you. Your my most successful client."
"Really? Well, I'm honored." You glowed.
"You should be. You know I consider you my closest friend."
You smiled, with tears threatening to spill, "And you're mine."

The End.
