Quotes

Okay so I'm bored and have these for an essay I'm working on in ELA. It's for a novel called The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. I love it! It's historical fiction, told by Death's eyes as he tells the tale of a character named Liesel, whom he calls "the book thief". This takes place right before and during Nazi Germany, near Munich. I won't spoil it too much, and the quotes won't give too much away.

"For at least twenty minutes, she handed out the story. The youngest were soothed by her voice, and everyone else saw visions of the whistler running away from the crime scene."

"Just give him five more minutes and he would surely fall into the German gutter and die. They would all let him, and they would all watch. Then, one human. Hans Hubermann."

"The stranger reached out, his bed-warmed hand taking her by the forearm. 'Please.' His voice also held on, as if possessing fingernails. He pressed it into her flesh. 'Papa!' Loud. 'Please!' Soft."

If you're curious as to why I picked these quotes, it's because my essay is on beauty and brutality. I can explain what's happening currently in the quotes (mainly because I love and have somewhat memorized the book).
