Y/N was a model who worked for Velvette, the overlord of fashion and media. They were one of her top models—flawless, charismatic, and always in the spotlight. You could find Y/N's face on the covers of every magazine and plastered across the most popular websites. Velvette took great pride in showcasing them as her best work.
One day, Velvette called Y/N into her office.
"Oooh, someone's in trouble~!" their friend teased, a sly grin on their face. Y/N rolled their eyes but couldn't quite shake the knot of nerves that tightened in their stomach.
"Yeah, yeah," they muttered as they made their way over to Velvette's office. The door was already open, so they knocked on the doorframe before stepping inside.
"You wanted to see me, Velv..?" They asked, raising an eyebrow as they closed the door behind them. Velvette was seated behind her desk, her posture straight and professional.
"Sit," Velvette commanded, pointing to the chair in front of her. Y/N sat down, trying to ignore the growing anxiety. The way she said it—like it was an order—made Y/N wonder what was coming next.
"Y/N..." Velvette began, her voice unusually soft but with an edge to it. "You're an amazing model. You're perfect, actually... Like a perfect doll. But I don't want you to be a model anymore."
Y/N's heart skipped a beat. "W-What?! W-what did I do wrong?! I— I promise it won't happen again, I–"
Velvette raised her hand to stop them, her gaze sharp yet warm. "You didn't do anything wrong, Y/N," she assured them. "I'll explain everything later. Just meet me outside the Vee Tower at 6:00 p.m. sharp. Don't be late."
Y/N felt a swirl of confusion and nervousness. "Uh... Okay," they muttered, still unsure of what was happening, but they nodded nonetheless.
Velvette didn't offer any further explanation, and Y/N left the office feeling more confused than ever. What if Velvette had lost interest in me? they wondered. But they tried to push the thought away—whatever it was, they'd find out soon enough.
They spent the next couple of hours pacing around their apartment, trying to settle their mind before the meeting. Finally, after what felt like forever, they settled on y/f/o. Y/N looked at the time—5:50 p.m.
"Oh shit!" Y/N panicked, grabbing their things and rushing out the door. The Vee Tower was just a few blocks away, but even a few minutes of delay felt like too much.
They arrived at exactly 6:00 p.m., but there was no sign of Velvette. They checked their watch again, just to be sure, then looked around the street for any sign of her. Suddenly they felt a hand on their shoulder, and Y/N jumped.
"Hey... I didn't actually think you'd make it on time..." Velvette's voice came teasingly behind them. Y/N turned around quickly.
"What's that supposed to mean?" they teased back. "Anyway, look, Velvette... I'm sorry if I've been slacking off, I just-"
Velvette interrupted them. "Come with me," Velvette said.
Without another word, she held out her hand. Y/N hesitated for only a moment before taking it, their heart pounding as she led them through the city streets.
It didn't take long for them to arrive at an upscale restaurant. The atmosphere was dim, romantic even, with soft lighting and quiet music in the background. Y/N couldn't help but wonder, 'Is this a date?'
As they were seated at a table, Velvette broke the silence, her voice softer now.
"Look... The reason I don't want you to work with me anymore is because I don't want us to only be workmates. I love you, Y/N."
Y/N froze. Their stomach flipped, and for a moment, they couldn't breathe. She loves me? The words felt surreal, but they also made Y/N's heart race in a way they had never expected.
"I... I love you too," Y/N blurted out without thinking. The confession was out before they even realized it, but the truth felt so real, so raw, they didn't care. Velvette's eyes widened, and her lips curled into a small, surprised smile.
"Really?" she asked, almost as if she couldn't believe it.
Y/N nodded quickly, their face flushing. "I've always loved you, Velvette. I just... I didn't know how to say it. You're my boss, after all. But now... I can't keep pretending I don't feel this way."
Velvette's expression softened, and she leaned a little closer across the table, her voice tender. "So... do you want to go on together as romantic partners? From now on?"
Y/N smiled, feeling a warmth spread through them. "Of course, Velvette. I really want to be by your side. In everything."
The two of them spent the rest of the evening in each other's company, enjoying their dinner and talking about everything and nothing all at once. When they finished eating, Velvette paid the bill, and they left the restaurant together, walking hand in hand under the night sky.
Back at the Vee Tower, Velvette's room was waiting for them. They settled on the bed to watch a movie, the atmosphere between them comfortable, soft, and full of the kind of quiet intimacy that only comes when two people know exactly how they feel about each other.
But just as the movie reached its climax, the door suddenly burst open, and in walked Vox with his girlfriend Angie clinging to his arm. (You're welcome, Angie... I thought of you too :3)
"Velvette, where did you put my—OoF–!" Vox's words were cut off by a pillow Velvette threw at his head, her face suddenly contorted in irritation.
"GET THE HELL OUT, YOU'RE INTERRUPTING MY DATE!!" Velvette snapped, her voice filled with authority, but also an unmistakable edge of protectiveness.
Y/N chuckled, unable to help it. "Well, someone's feisty. It's cute," they teased with a grin.
Velvette blushed slightly but tried to hide it, giving Y/N a small but fond smile. Vox just scoffed. "JEEZ, Velvette. Gosh, you're so overdramatic..." he said rolling his eyes.
"Well, I'll leave you to it, lovebirds~" Vox teased, pulling Angie into his arms dramatically. "Me and Angie are gonna go—"
"NO ONE WANTS TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR LOVE LIFE! GET THE FUCK OUT!" Velvette yelled, cutting him off mid-sentence.
Vox rolled his eyes but laughed, lifting Angie bridal-style as he backed out of the room. "Yeesh, alright, alright, we're going."
The door slammed shut, and the room finally fell silent. Velvette turned to Y/N, her eyes soft as she cupped their face with her hands.
"I love you, Y/N..." she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper. "I love you so much."
Y/N smiled, their heart swelling at the sound of her words. "I love you too, Velvette."
With that, Velvette pulled them closer, kissing them gently on the lips. Y/N was caught off guard for a second, but then they melted into the kiss, reciprocating it with equal tenderness. When they finally pulled away, Velvette caressed their cheek, her expression soft and adoring.
"You're just the perfect doll, Y/N," she whispered, her voice filled with awe. "My perfect doll. And I get you all to myself."
