"Who wants to hear stories?" Nobody replied. Sighing, the grandfather shakes his head in disappointment. The mother of the family saw this, and said: "You can play your games afterwards." Immediately, three children gathered around their grandpa.

The eldest of the three was 10 years old. She asked: "Can we hear about your childhood again?" There was an impatient note in her tone.

He smiled at her, albeit somewhat ruefully. "Of course." And so he began his tale.

"When I was young..."

When I was young, I was young and lively. I loved to explore. I climbed trees and scaled cliff-sides, I went hiking up mountains and swimming in seas, I went fishing in lakes and hunting in forests. But you wouldn't know what these are. All you know are murky waters and polluted skies, big grey factories and ashen streets. You can't go to a zoo to see a giraffe or a lion, or a penguin, because they are extinct. Even fish is rare. You don't know what the stars look like. You don't know what trees and flowers and all the things in nature look like. You only know about technology and games. Nobody goes outside anymore. You rarely smile and wave to other people. And this is painful for me, but you wouldn't know.

"When I was young, I was just like you, but technology wasn't so advanced. Some of the games you have weren't invented yet."

"That's so sad! I can't imagine living without it." The second eldest, a 6 year old boy, said that.

"Yes, you are lucky."

Lies

Nobody saw the sad smile flicker across his facade. Maybe because nobody was paying attention anymore. They were all gathered around the newest version of the 3D hologram TV, playing some kind of 3D game. 

I don't know why I wrote this.
