Shida Reviews: Cardfight!! Vanguard

In today's menu we have a portuguese guy bashing the Reverse arc for half a hour and praising a bunch of openings. Let's get started.

Disclaimer: I won't mention Endings unless I like them.

Welcome to round 2 of Shida Reviews, yes, this did make a return, and yes, I'm hurrying this up so that I can get to G because I have alot to talk about in there. What will I be review in todya's episode? The original Aichi era, all the way from season 1 to the end of Legion Mate. Will I review the movie? I won't review it here, but I ever grow the patience to watch it, I'll make a separate episode related to it. Let's just speed this up so that I can get to Link Joker, basht he Reverse arc, and then get to G.

Cardfight!! Vanguard

The first opening was fine, but it's weak when you compare it to "Believe in my existence". That opening is a true masterpiece, applauses to JAM Project.

So this season, being the start of the series, starts how you'd expect. Kai beats Morikawa, Morikawa steals Blaster Blade, Aichi fights Kai, yada yada yada.

When it comes to the story of this season, it's pretty standard. Aichi starts playing Vanguard because of Kai, gets dragged into Q4 by Shin's tournament and then it's about winning the national tournament while dealing with Psyqualia, though they must face their opposites in battle in the form fo AL4 to become national champions. Bam, that's season 1 in a nutshell.

Remember when Aichi's personality was trap material? Well get ready for two whole seasons of it. Ok look, I didnt care for Aichi back then and dont care for him now, so I'll make this review on him as short and sweet as I can. Aichi was either a shy girl or a teen going through a phase when using Psyqualia, him trying to be an edgy fuck is nothing but cringe, which can also be applied for Ren but I'll bash that jackass in a moment. Overall, Aichi was fine. His show came out on an era where you expect your card game protagonists to be either happy-go-lucky or stoic because Yu-Gi-Oh was a thing already, so seeing the main character be this shy kid who actually loses more thna you'd expect was refreshing to see. Oh yeah, the losing part. Aichi's growth during season 1 and 2 are things that the audience can connect to since no one starts playing Vanguard like a pro. You're seeing the protagonist grow as a fighter as you grow as a fighter too. And in the final battle of season 1, when you see him accept his true self in the form of Blaster Blade and his fate with Psyqualia in the form of Blaster Dark and use Majestic Lord Blaster to beat Ren, you get a smile on your fight because you know it was bound to happen and was boudn to be epic.

Aichi vs Ren in the end of the season is also much better than any Aichi vs Ren fight in the V Series so we can praise that too.

Toshiki Kai... Kai was a fucking asshole for most of the Aichi Era as a whole. Season 1? Asshole. Season 2? Not a big asshole. Season 3? Asshole who brings the end of the world near to reality because he can't use the Sharingan. Season 4? Asshole fixing the shit he did for not beign able to get the Sharingan. Basically Kai was my favourite character for most of this era. Besides that, in season 1, he was what you would expect from a rival character. He's the driving force for Aichi to get stronger, he's what ties AL4 to Q4. And in the end, he can't do aything other than watch his past and his present fight each other after Di Endo failed to beat a card we'll never get in Standard.

Fuck Kamui during this season.

Misaki was fine. I liked her. And we actually got to see her emotions because of what happened with her parents during her fight with Emi where they sued the NG and OTT trial decks. Why am I mentioning this fight? Because I watched it this week since Youtube recommended me the japanese episodes. Seeing her lose to Asaka but then defeat her with Tsukuyomi was very enjoyable.

And now that we are done with the main cast, let's into side characters, starting off with Emi Sendou, Aichi's little sister. When it comes to Emi in season 1, I can only tell her to go fuck herself because she's the reason Kamui was an annoying piece of shit in this season. Also spoiler alert, I may be bashing Kamui now but when we get to G, he's going to get praised.

Miwa and Izaki were enjoyable partners to their respective dudes, though Izaki gets his praise in Link Joker while Miwa gets shit.

Morikawa... Man oh man, I lvoe Morikawa. He was the Almost-GOAT. Why? Because this madlad couldnt G Assist back then but if you gave him an actually well constrcuted deck, he man would go sicko mode on little kids in a card shop. I mean this guy beats Aichi with a trial deck for all I care. Basically, Morikawa was great.

I cant remember their band name but I know her names. Kourin, Rekka and Suiko. Honestly fuck Rekka and Suiko, nobody cares about them, Kourin was the great one. She actually got most of the fights of the band. Also quick sidenote, but the band outfits are better in this era than in V, but everyone knows that. We forgive Bushi for taking away the Kourin and Suiko cleveage since they gave us Esuka.

Assistacat was the true G, Shin didn't become relevant until G so all he did was make the team and drive the van.

Now let's look at AL4... I mean, okay. When it comes to AL4, I have little to say about three of their members. Asaka was good because she had boobs, but sucked at everything else; Kyou was an annoying little shit that was done justice in V but he played Spikes so; Ren's attempt at being edgy is cringeful. Ren gets better as seasons go on, but again, we'll get there. Hm, who am I missing... Oh yeah.

So this pink haired dude played Galahad, that was fun. Also Tetsu was the GOAT.

Tetsu whatever his last name is the GOAT of the first Vanguard season and easily my favourite character of this part. This fucker wrecked what he saw. Against Aichi? Fuck Aichi. Against Kamui? Fuck Kamui. He's the embodiment of "Talk shit get bonned.".

Oh yeah Justice Team is a thing but they played Enigmans, they dont even deserve to have their names mentioned.

Best moments: Tetsu vs Aichi, Tetsu vs Kamui, Aichi vs Ren

Worst moments: Aichi playing SP

Season rating: 8/10

As a season to introduce the characters, it was pretty well done, but it's weak when the first season of G exists. Now let's move on into of my favourite seasons of the era, shall we?

Cardfight!! Vanguard: Asia Circuit

At least Bushi svaed money on printing cards since they cucked three clans... But then they added another three clans and made one more relevant.

Okay look, I'm going to be honest with you, I didn't knew Great Nature was a thing until Asia Circuit. I thought Great Nature was a new clan so imagine my reaction when I found out it had existed during season 1. And same goes for Neo Nectar and Murakumo but I didn't knew those were a thing until G started.

Now, to put it simply, RP, SP and Kagero take a nap, Seamen become a thing, furries become relevant, hot nurse angels finally become athing, also we started getting into the void mumbo jumbo.

Asia Circuit is a controversial season (I call it this since while I like it alot, my brudda doesn't). I honestly had alot of fun with this season since it introduced alot of cards I liked. I liked Raptors, I liked Leo-pald, I liked Vermillion (give me a shank and call me Ayato) and I liked S P E C T R A L D U K E. I liked Spectral Duke alot. When it comes to story, I mean, this is where things get weird. But you know what repays that? The main cast catches Ls after Ls and we get the greatest beach arc of this era.

I don't have alot to say about the old character so I'll wrap up what I can. Aichi was fine and we skipped him being an edgy cunt, we played Gold Paladins and fucked off. Misaki was there, never puleld the ride chain off, had good boobs, played Witches, then fucked off. Asaka and Tetsu were there, did nothing, Kai and Ren were there, Kai was mostly an asshole again and Ren was much more enjoyable now and that's about it.

Now, new characters. What do we got? Chris was fine, but screw his teammates. Didn't like any of them.

And then, we got this cunt Leon... I hate Leon, I keep disliking this fool until GIRS CRISIS. His blue haired friends were fine. It's not cheating if they have the same face.

Takuto was here... And fuck Takuto honestly, I never like this fool.

Team Justice was here and I can finally talk about them. Yuri was cool, Gai was cool, Koutei went "GURETO DAIYUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSHAAAAAAAAAAAAA" against Ren which is a major plus for him, and then he ahd that cool fight against Gouki where he never had shit to ride, which boosts him up.

And then we have Kamui. I liked hima lot in this season. Not only did he introduce Beast Deities, but you also see him grow as a fighter after losing to Tetsu. And after he pushes himself to his limits, after goes Genkai Koete, he still loses to Tetsu. He keeps growing as a fighter and only reaches his peak in G, when he fights the evil governator of the hive herself.

if ther eis one thign I'd like this season to have was the true Asia Circuit finals after the final battle between Aichi and Leon, but it's okay.

Best moments: Beach arc, Kamui's growth

Worst moments: Leon

Season rating: 8/10

Ah, am I really ready to bash half a season? Lmao yes I am.

Also I didn't liked the opening of this season, it's easily forgettable.

Cardfight!! Vanguard: Link Joker

Ok look, all of the openings of this seasona re bangers, but I prefer Infinite Rebirth over Break Your Spell.

Link Joker, the most controversial season when your nickname online is Shida, the season that got me into many fights because of me hating it's second part. I'm going to split this up into three parts so make things quicker.

-Cardfight Club Arc

I talked about this on my V Series review, but this cluba rc actually lasts more than 10 episodes so I have more to say. For starters, Aichi playing Golds sucks, he should have bounced back to Royals but Kourin was playign Jewel Knights so what can you do? Misaki playing Genesis was fine since all units she rode were girls, and Artemis was actually good. Kourinw as pretty cool in this part but then becomes a reversed cunt. We get two new characters and those characters are pure fire. Naoki and Shingo. Shingo played Magatsu while they were in Kumos, kicked Naoki's ass and then proceeded to be a tool to develop Naoki, which Ii'm fine with. As for Naoki, he deserves his own paragraph.

Naoki Ishida, this madlad, one of the two true protagonists of this season. You see his growth, but he's like a normal happy-go-lucky dude so you can feel better connected with him. His fights are good, exciting, your blood starts boiling when he shouts "BREAK TIME!". When he pulls off Armor Break and beats Suiko, you feel the burning passion run through your veins. He's just so GOOD in this season. The part where he unreverses Shingo, you get to see him for his emotional value since Shingo was his best friend which is just another booster for Naoki. Overall, Naoki was one of my favourite characters but is sharing the number 1 spot with the other protagonist.

What else is there in this season... They fight Emi and Rekka, but fuck then, they fight Fukuhara which was alright I guess and then- You know what I wanna talk about it so let's talk about it.

Aichi vs Izaki. A no one like Izaki fighting the Asia Circuit champion Aichi. Not only the best fighter of the arc but also oen that carries so much emotional value. In the end, you see yourself cheering for Izaki and feeling bad for him losing.

Also Morikawa plays Di Endo and almost whoops Aichi was cool, Kamui has Ethics Buster which is cooler.

Now to my nightmare...

-Reverse Arc

I didn't like this arc one bit back then. And now that I'm older, I'm able to find a small amount of joy in it, but I still don't like it. You know, most of this was caused by Kai being a jealous cunt. His assholeness is the cause the world almost got invaded my units with edgy red rings around them. I'm going to skim past this arc as fast as I can so let's go.

Leon vs Reversed Koutei: Great fight, actually made me hate Leon less.

Leon vs Reverse Leon: The dislike of Leon returns.

Naoki vs Maki: I forgot about this fight which lead to me forgetting the existence of NN until Tokoha uses it.

Leon vs Eru: Eru in V is better.

Aichi vs Reversed Naoki: Bad fight.

Aichi vs Reversed Kourin: Forgettable fight.

Aichi vs Reversed Kourin 2: Also forgettable.

Kamui vs Reversed Gouki: It was okay.

Kamui vs Reversed Rekka: It was okay.

Ninja Master Neo vs Reversed Nagisa: Nubatama gets good shit, claps cheeks, eats ass, and now that I look at it as a Nubatama player, easily a GOAT fight.

Naoki vs Reversed Shingo: Pretty good.

Ren vs Reversed Kai: Bad.

Aichi vs Reversed Kai: Bad.

I dont like this arc but my favourite arc happens during it. Oh yeah, about that-

-Fukuhara Arc/Ren solos reversed fighters during almost ten episode straight

This arc made me love Ren. This dude was at his peak in this fight. I know what he does in G but that's small when this guy does what he did in Fukuhara. Ren the GOAT Suzugamori dude. Did you saw how he superior called that Blaster Dark against Asaka? SP players are meant to defy gravity, this was a sign of what was to come.

Fanboying aside, I love this mini arc. It makes Ren one of other two true proagonists of this season.

Now that I reviewed the parts, let's sum it up.

Best moments: Naoki, Ren, Ninja Master Neo vs Nagisa

Worst moments: The Reverse arc

Season rating: 9/10

Me bitching about red markings under eyes aside, this season has alot of positives. Now time to go bootleg leggy-on on some fools.

Cardfight!! Vanguard: Legion Mate

I didn't knew this was a thing until Shion vs Yuya was a thing because Yuya used a Liberator legion. This is the most forgettable season out of all of them and I didn't even got to finish it. And it somehow has one of the catchiest openings in the form V Road and one of my personal favourites in the form of Knock on your Gate.

Here's the gist. Kai wakes up, Aichi is gone, no one remembers him, he plays Seekers in RP and beats people to make them want to get Aichi back, but then an europe guy appears, beats his ass and a conspiracy starts rising, one where Ren and Leon are involved. Turns out Aich has the void inside of him and went to hide in the moon while two european guys (Gaillard and Neve), a south american dude (the cunt who swaps decks at least three times, I think his name is Raul) and Rati. Kourin is also there but okay?

Raizers are back, my only memory with Brawlers is Yuto, Regalias are dope, Perdition gets cucked, Miwa gets relevance until he just doesnt anymore and we get edgy Blaster Joker for no reason alongside Dragonic Overlord the Handy Guy.

I dont like Legion mate, nothing interesting happens, their beach arc isnt even on an island with a beach.

Best moments: Naoki beating Raul, the openings

Worst moments: Most of this season

Season rating: 5/10

Now that my speed run on the Aichi era is done, get ready to see me fanboy about a swirly boy, his fencing blonde friend and the big tiddy green haired girl who lieks a guy who died in France for half a hour straight next week as I review G. I think the first season may be 3k+ words since I have alot to say about it. Anyway, outro time-

Thanks for reading and I'll see you later. Bye bye!

Remember kids, Alk's LB lets you legion. Make your brains peak like mine.
