Flare

Genre: Fantasy

Summary: In a breathtaking world where mages and enchantresses walk the earth, Flare, a young fire mage, lives peacefully in the nation of Sarbor Akuot where many mages make their home. But when Flare's twin brother dies suddenly, she must travel all four corners of the earth to find one of the last living necromancers who can bring him back. A tale of love, adventure, and self discovery, we see the world through Flare's upturned eyes as she meets people from all walks of life, visits unique and formidable towns, and encounters danger and beauty beyond belief.

+ Cover

Not bad. Though my first thought was something like a mystery/thriller since it kind of looked like a dead body :P

Rating: 7/10

+ Title

Suits. Short and perfect as well as related to the story.

Rating: 8/10

+ Summary

Short and to the point. But I do wonder if it is necessary to add the part about why she is searching for the necromancers. That part can be incorporated into the book and give a slight mysterious element.

But nice work.

+ Plot

Not one I have read anywhere. As usual, fantasy plots nearly always vary from each other and this one is no different.

Rating: 8/10

+ Characters

Flare: She seems to be a strong protagonist as well as an interesting one. Her motives seem to be pure and the fact that she controls fire just makes her even more great. (Yes, I like fires)

Dune: Since I haven't known her for long, I don't have much of an opinion on her.

The characters are all unique and I especially liked the Queen because even though she may be kind, she still has a drawback in the form of her narrow mind. It was realistic and I liked that.

Rating: 8/10

+ Chapters

Length: A tad bit lengthy for my tastes to be honest.

Grammar, etc: I could find nearly no mistakes and the sentences sound beautiful.

General:

I liked your book mainly due to the vividness of the descriptions. You describe the places and things around very beautifully and I was sucked into that.

On the other hand, I felt a severe lack in connections between the characters.

Biggest example? The scene between Dune and Flare on the mountains. Why is Flare so apathetic? It really doesn't make sense to me.

Other than that, the story is written marvellously and if you step up the pacing and reduce the length a bit it would be perfect.

+ Conclusion

Controlling elements? This is the story for you :D Very nicely written with no grammatical errors and amazing descriptions.
