Chapter eight
I held Josh's paw in my own as we walked out the restaurant, smiling as a light breeze blew, the scent of cherry mixing pleasantly in the air. I looked at Josh and couldn’t resist placing a kiss on his cheek as we walked further in, a variety of shops lining the pathway. “I am lucky to have you at my side,” I smiled, squeezing Josh’s paw lightly as I looked into those eyes that just seemed so deep to me. “Nay, it is I to be lucky. You saved my life, my world by being with me. I love you, now and forever after,” Josh told me, making me smile as I kissed him again, snuggling close to him.
We walked in silence for a while, enjoying the others company as petals fell around us, drifting slowly in the air. “Hey, Brandon; want to do some shopping?” Josh asked me in a tone that made me smile slightly as we stopped in front of a Jewelery shop.
“Sure, but we buy nothing. Only browse,” I told him, taking his elbow with my own. Kissing me again, Josh led the way inside, the smell of cherry being replaced with the scent of vanilla, a small bell above us sounding. “Welcome to Zan-Zen jewelery. Feel free to browse all you like and tell me if there is something you wish to put on,” a Glaceon said, her voice kind as she smiled at us. Both Josh and I nodded before moving to the display shelves.
“Wow,” Josh said, looking at a amethyst necklace, the gem in the shape of a flame, one that seemed to flicker when the light caught it. “That would look amazing on you!” I said, wincing a little at the price; 5000 Poke? Ouch. I knew it would take every dime I had to buy that for Josh. 'when I save enough,’ I thought, putting that down as a possible anniversary present. Josh smiled, wrapping his arm around me as he slowly led me to the rings. I acted to not be too interested in the rings, but one band caught my eye against my will.
A silver band reflected the light beautifully, the diamond looking like it was crafted just for me. I fell in love with it, my gaze lost in the design, every sparkle the light made making my eyes shine more and more. “Excuse me miss, but we would like to try this ring,” Josh said, making me blush a little as I realized I was caught. Soon, the ring was placed in front of me, the Glaceon offering to put it on me. When I lifted my paw and she slipped it on my ring finger, my eyes watered up; it was so beautiful!
Josh smiled at my reaction before the Glaceon took it back, almost making me whine a little as she put it under the counter. “Any thing else, sirs?” she asked us. I shook my head, thanking her for her time. As we prepared to leave, Josh pat his jacket pockets and frowned. “Sorry; I think I left my glasses in the store. I will be right out,” he said, bolting back in.
I stood by a path light, the light slowly turning on as the day turned to night, the first star shining bright. “The first star I see tonight, grant my only wish. Let me stay happy, with the one I love,” I whispered in quiet prayer, smiling lightly when a pair of strong arms wrapped an arm around me, warming me up greatly. I turned to look at Josh, his blue framed glasses making him look so hot in my eyes. I kissed him slowly, both of us lost in the moment as, right when our lips connected, a shooting star flashed across the sky.
I held Josh’s paw in mine as he drove us home, a smile on my lips as I watched the starry night sky. I looked at Josh as a song started to play, one that made tears rise in my eyes, tears laced with shame at what I had almost done to myself, to us. I sang along, tears falling freely as memories washed over me.
End of May or early June,
This picture perfect afternoon we share,
Drive the winding country road,
Grab a scoop at Alamode,
And then were there.
I thought about my life before Josh and I admitted our feelings for each other, the way I was always depressed and had suicidal thoughts. I sniffed silently as I flashed myself back to the clearing, down the path I had walked so many times before.
A open field that’s framed with trees,
We pick a spot and shoot the breeze,
Like buddies do.
Quoting songs from our favorite bands,
Telling jokes no one understands except us two.
We would talk and take in the view.
I had talked to myself, saying that I was pointless, worthless in the world. 'my parents are better off without me; they have Jesse after all,’ I had thought, smiling to myself; she would be a only child soon, spoiled beyond her wildest dreams.
All we see is sky for forever,
Let the world pass by for forever,
‘It feels like we could go forever this way'.
Two friends on a perfect day.
We would walk a while and talk about what we would do when we get out of school,
Like do the Appilation trails,
Or write a book,
Or learn to sail,
Now wouldn’t that be cool?
I knew that Josh always wanted to learn to sail, to explore the seven seas with gis own eyes. The only reason why he couldn’t was because of his fire typing, and a heavy rain could prove to be fatal if he is not prepared. I thought I would go with him if I ever got the opportunity, to be his second mate and, if my dreams were to have ever come true, first lover.
There is nothing we cant discuss,
Like girls we wish would notice us but never do.
He looks around and says
‘'there is no where else I would rather be'
And I say ‘Me too!’
I couldn’t hold in a chuckle as I remembered the fact I had to act straight in front of Josh, just to be sure he never knew that I was gay.
And we would talk and take in the view,
Just talk, and take in the view.
All we see is sky,
For forever,
We let the world pass by,
for forever.
It feels like we could go on for forever this way.
I remembered looking up at the sky from my spot, watching as the clouds drifted over the sun, a cool breeze fluffing out my fur. I hiccupped a little when my memories took a darker turn.
All we see is light,
For forever,
Because the sun shines bright,
For forever,
Like we would be alright for forever this way.
Two friends on a perfect day.
I could feel the dry grass as I had raced to the giant oak, my depression making my heart ache as I climbed the tree, wishing for it all to end. When I reached the highest branch, I took one last look at the sun, its rays the most comfort I have ever had in my life.
There he goes, racing towards the tallest tree,
Far across the yellow field I hear him call
‘'follow me!”
There we fo,
Wondering how the world might look from up so high,
One foot after another,
One branch and to another,
We climb higher and higher,
I climb till the entire sun,
Shines in my face!
I thought of the suicide note I had left, knowing my parents would find it too late. Only one other Pokemon knew of this place, my crush Josh. I stood up on the branch and took a deep breath, preparing to jump. Right as I was about to, I heard a voice shout my name, making me grip the branch tightly.
I suddenly feel the branch give way,
I'm on the ground,
My arm goes numb,
I look around,
I see him come to get me,
He’s come to get me,
And everything’s okay.
I remembered Josh kneeling beside me, my head on his lap as he sobbed over my body, a piece of paper in his paw. He had yelled at me that day with such raw emotion that it made me cry, seeing the pain that I would have caused, just to a friend of mine.
All we see is sun,
For Forever,
We let the world pass by,
For forever,
Josh had started to sing at this point, gripping my paw tightly in his own, remembering the experience himself.
Buddy you and I for forever this way!
For forever this way.
All we see is Light!
Because the sun burns bright!
We are going to be all right,
For Forever this way.
We had reached his apartment later, my emotions having stabilized during the rest of the drive. We sat in the car for a bit longer, Josh leaning over to hug ne, which I happily returned, his hot body warming me up as I kissed him as thanks. “I have always loved you; I would have killed myself if I would have found you dead, all those years ago. I love you,” Josh told me, looking at me with a small smile, the very same one that he had used when he had confessed his feelings to me.
I smiled before kissing him on the lips, one that heated up as we got out the car, Josh holding me close to him. I looked into his eyes, silently asking a question that I was always too nervous to ask out loud. Josh nodded as he broke the contact, his head darting to nibble at my neck, making me whimper as he led the way inside.
In a matter of moments, I and Josh were in his bedroom, slowly stripping the other, our lip battle becoming more heated with each passing moment. We slipped into a night of passion, I below my love as he took me like the few times he did before.
As we slipped away, the moon light struck my necklace, a low shine entering the heart, twinkling lightly
