Pronunciation Problems
I swear everyone has a different way of pronouncing parabatai.
How do you guys pronounce it?
Mine is: puh-rab-uh-tie
And if that's a wrong pronunciation I don't give a dam and I'm gonna keep it the same because I'm way too used to pronouncing it that way.
ALSO recently learned that Chiron is pronounced Kai-ron.
WTH??? I've pronounced it Chur-on for hmm let's think ELEVEN FLIPPING FULL LENGTH BOOKS PLUS THE SIDE STORY BOOKS AND GREEK GODS/HEROES AND HEADCANONS, FAN FICTIONS, POSTS, ETC.
IT FELT LIKE MY LIFE WAS TORN APART
KAI-RON?????
What other words have I failed on . . . ?
Chaol, but I don't feel too upset because literally no one pronounced that right. I went through a time in Crown of Midnight where I just called him 'C.'
Not to mention Galathinyius. I pronounced it Guh-lath-een-ie-us
Nope. It's Gala-thin-ie-us
OMG Alis from ACOTAR. This is how it went:
Me: Looks like Alice
Me: No this is Sarah Maas it can't be that easy
Me: A-lyse
Me: Alyssa
Me: A-lies
Me: Yep. A-lies
Pronunciation guide in the back of the book that I didn't know existed until I finished: Lol nope its Alice
Me: WTFFFFFFFFFFFF
Very sad time (Rhysand was Rye-sand for a while too)
This one isn't too big but I always called Candor 'Can-door' and Shailene was like 'Can-dur' and when little CBG saw that part her little CBG-ish face fell like WHYYYY
I've pronounced Lena as Leh-nuh instead of Lee-nuh I'M SORRY I LIKE LEH-NUH BETTER OKAY LEAVE ME ALONE
I'm convinced I've pronounced stele wrong but idk. Is it steal-ie? Because that's what I've been saying.
And Iko. I've called her Ike-O
But I saw an interview with Marissa and she was like Eeek-O
NO NO NO YOU CANT TAKE IKE-O FROM ME NO NO NO
And those have been a few of my pronunciation problems . . .
Reading a book is always scary because I know I'm gonna pronounce SOMETHING wrong and UGH ITS SO AWFUL PLEASE TELL ME I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE
