I'm so sick of these.

I get that you can ship whatever you want and everyone has a different opinion, blah blah blah.

But come on. We've got to draw a line somewhere.

Let's just get this out of the way: I hate crack ships.

I get that some people see chemistry potential. But this is what aggravates me.

Person A and Person B are a fictional couple, all right? Person A has a friend who has a distant relative who has an acquaintance who we'll call Person C.
So why are there fanarts of Person A and C littered across the Internet?

Okay, admittedly it's not as far fetched as that. (Actually there are probably some.) But still.

I'll be pulling some examples, so be prepared.

Let's take Jason and Percy, for example. (PJO fandom: Boy do I need to talk to you about shipping . . . )
Anyway.
They. Are. Friends. Who. Are. Straight. And. (at least Percy is) Madly. In. Love. With. A. Girl. And. Happy. That. Way.
You can't force a sexuality on someone, no matter how hard you try. So have respect for fictional people, too. C'mon guys. If they're straight, ship them with the opposite gender. If not, ship them with the same gender. Just sayin'. (And that is another reason why Thalico needs to go. And honestly all of the non-canon ships we have in this fandom. I wouldn't be surprised if I saw people who ship Octavian and Percy, and then I'd have to go bleach my eyes and I really don't want to do that)

*exhales*

What's even worse than that is shipping people who have absolutely no good connection at all whatsoever.
Imagine someone coming up to you and saying they ship Will Herondale with Nate Gray.
Wouldn't you be like "Why???"
Looking at you, Octachel. And Lukercy (I recently found out some people actually ship this and I just. No. NO. This is probably worse than Lukabeth. Guys. *shakes head with disgust*)

Now there are some ships that technically aren't canon, but have the possibility of becoming canon. These ships are usually--
1. Widely accepted across the fandom (as in about 90% of the fanbase is totally for it)
2. People who are connected with each other
3. People who have shown actual, legitimate signs of liking each other
4. In MOST CASES (not all, but most) people who aren't in a committed and serious relationship with another character

*cough* Johnlock *cough* (I recently started Sherlock. On season two.) (Also heard a lot about Destiel but I'm not in that fandom I'M SORRY. Supernatural, you guys are probably the farthest gone fandom and I'm not sure if I should cross that line)

I'm gonna continue.

What annoys me even further is when the small percentage of a fandom with a crack ship decides to hate on the actual canon ship.
Hate for any ship sucks for the shipper, but it's just really aggravating when people are like-- "YOU KNOW, SIZZY SUCKS, THIS ONE TIME ISABELLE AND MAUREEN MADE EYE CONTACT SO I SHIP THAT AND YOU'RE AN IDIOT IF YOU DONT."
Or--
"OH I SHIP KATNISS AND THAT UNNAMED DEAD TRIBUTE FROM SOME UNKNOWN DISTRICT HOW COULD YOU POSSIBLY SHIP HER WITH ANYONE ELSE??"

The actual definition I found when looking up crack ships was: a crack ship is a ship that is highly ridiculous, bizarre, disturbing, and/or unlikely to ever become canon. The characters don't have any chemistry, never interact, are in different canons or timelines, are different species, one is an inanimate object, etc."

I feel like the last part was added for Brason and a few others . . .

So . . . everyone has at least one questionable ship, probably. Just don't be annoying about it, and don't hate on the actual canon couple. That would not accomplish anything.

Um, I think that's all I have to say about crack ships.

Oh, if you do ship crack ships, just know that almost no one supports your decision. (Sorry if that sounds mean, but if that applies to you then we'll start a Shipping 101 course)
