Chapter 14
Philip sat in his cell with Faye asleep in his hat; it was safe and warm in there. The troll guards neared again so Philip pretended to be asleep closing his eyes until their footsteps dispersed. When he opened them he saw they had laid Arthur down in his cell. Something wasn't right, Arthur couldn't have fallen asleep that quickly. Philip stood up.
"Arthur!" He whisper yelled. No response. "Arthur!" He shouted louder. Faye peeked out of his hat, she looked around then flitted over to Arthur, she tapped him a few times then flew back.
"The imps have placed a sleeping curse on him." She whispered in Philip's ear.
"How do we wake him?" Philip whispered.
"Love's first kiss." She said coldly.
"How will we find someone he loves?" Philip wondered aloud. Faye pulled a small vial of powder from her bag.
"Fairy dust." She began to open the tiny bottle. "We carry it in small amounts for emergencies."
"So we just pour it on him?"
"No. This is just ground up diamonds. We need to enchant it first, and a purple fairy of the dusk needs to charm it. Purple fairies are fairies of love." Faye explained.
"How do we do that?" Philip mused.
"We break out." Faye stated gravely.
"We can't... can we?"
"Yes... we can!" Faye cried, remembering something. "Arthur captured fairies! He has two more in his satchel. We'll free them, and they'll help us escape!"
"What types of fairies are they?" Philip asked.
"Orange: which is fire, and yellow which is light." Faye explained, then gracefully flew over to the satchel. She tried desperately to open the clasp, but found she couldn't. Faye looked around for something to use, and saw her raspberry bush sitting in the corner. She almost moved on until she noticed the sharp thorns poking out from the stalk. Smiling she rushed over to it breaking off a thorn, which was about a third of her size, and dragging it over to satchel. She quickly began prodding away at the work leather, until she produced a small tear, just large enough to fit through. She then went in and pulled out the two vials.
I'm a great feat of strength Faye rapped her body around the vial, and yanked the cork out. The yellow fairy darted out immediately going to the berries, and grabbing a particularly ripe one. Faye repeated and the orange fairy was released too. Philip was in awe at the strength of such tiny beings. They began to chatter and the two fairies nodded in agreement with Faye.
"Aster will create a distraction, while I grow me raspberry bush to rap around the bars so you can get Arthur. Then Blaise will create and explosion to crack the stone, and you can slide down my vine to the beach below." Faye explained fiercely. "When I say go you go. When I say freeze, you freeze. A second of hesitation, and you're dead."
