Title: Afire Deal
Reviewer: laly13
Author: ganymeda26
Genre: teen fiction
Summary:
It starts with a dare and ends with a dare; after all this is a game.
Chace Alexander is an attractive, charming and witty guy. He is a player of love. However, he is not aware that the girls in his 'play' are not that naive.
On top of the list are: Channing Winstead, the naive girl in disguise who has no idea about his reputation; Autumn Collins, the best friend who has always been there; Juliette Payne, the first love who has always got under his skin; Madeline Carter, the innocent girl who has only known the good of him.
So are you ready to play? The rules are simple. First, have your own rules. Second, offense is none taken.
What is the worst could happen? Hearts might be broken.
Review:
chapters 1-10:
-characters are introduced. They don't give love at first sight to the reader, but they manage to evolve into people we can consider worth a try meeting
-the action is great. Since the start it goes straight to the point to what will fuel the drama, but it's controlled so the story won't stay without substantial material by the 5th chapter
-chemistry is a little too fast. I feel the charm coming from him is a little too overwhelming considering the main characters barely know each other, but on the bright side it helps the reader know what the guy is really made of
chapters 11-20:
-new characters are introduced. They give interesting insight on what was the main guy before and what led him to what he is today, and they look like interesting pawns in this game
-the action is like an interesting match of tennis: the main characters get closer and closer to what the readers want to see in this and any teen fiction in general, but then there's a situation that pulls that possibility away. And it can go on and on
chapters 21-30
-there isn't a variety of events. The couple is finally together and this bunch is just simple-kind of filer- events to see how they work as boyfriend\girlfriend
chapters 31-40
-drama, drama and more drama. You'll be surprised how some characters will turn out at this situation
-as for the storyline I felt the drama was a little foolish (it was effective and knowing the guy it was indeed possible), but I expected more of a battling and not everything handled on a silver platter. But I will praise completely the fact you didn't use a cliche point so things could turn "happily ever after"
chapters 41-48
-all I can say is that you'll find a character that sums up pretty much the whole fandom hehe
-And we reach resolution point. If it was me I wouln't consider giving second chances, but this is mere fiction so I'm not gonna make an essay on how things should've turned out(though the girl's decision to handle things was creative and awesome)
-And the bonus chapters are great. Hope that's the prologue to new stuff
So talking about the book in general I liked it and I disliked it at the same time. It's awesome how you portrayed the guy by what he really is throughout all the book(he wasn't an instant saint because of an exclusive girlfriend) and though there's many POVs and situations the sequence of events is generally clear. The bad part was that the action was a rollercoaster(suddenly you get bored, then you get interested, then you feel like you're dragging yourself again), if many POVs confused me many times, it can happen to any other reader, and the plot is kind of deceiving(yes I see a dare, but it isn't how the plot makes it to be and the dare is easily forgotten, which can never happen if you plan to make a story about it)
So as recommendations I can't do a lot since the story is finished and there's lots of material, but in the POV department if you've tried it then make it more frequent, but if you haven't give it a try; it's an easier road. Keep writing and take care ;)
