Chapter 16: Found and Lost 12-22-16

Sure enough Frodo could be seen at the bottom of the mountain. Aragorn tried to hide the sudden fear show on his face. He tried not to stare at Frodo either; he knew the Mouth was watching his every facial expression.

Frodo was definitely slowly down by the way he kept falling. Sam was nowhere in sight, which concerned Aragorn. He looked away from the struggling Hobbit and made his eyes wonder someplace else.

Then before the Mouth could even dream of stopping him, he ran. Aragorn ran down the rocky mountain as fast as he could without tripping on the large boulders that kept crumpling under his feet. It was much harder without the constant balance of his arms and hands to steady him constantly. Aragorn tried to get lost in the smoke of the heat holes that lead down to the volcano on the mountain, but also tried not to lose sight of Frodo.

"Stop!" Aragorn heard the Mouth shouting behind him loudly.

Without turning around, Aragorn knew he was a much agiler runner and balancer than the Mouth. Rocks tumbled down Mount Doom from how frantically the villain ran.

Frodo finally looked up from his position on the ground. He climbed to his feet and stumbled back a little. All he saw was a load of dust and smoke coming his way with a human form in the center.

"Aragorn?" Frodo looked up at him with longing eyes and a crooked smile spread across his weak face. His normal bright blue eyes were now red and looked hollow from exhaustion.

"Frodo, I need you to hide for a moment. Stay close, I will find you," Aragorn whispered fast, but quietly.

The Hobbit nodded and then fearfully looked behind Aragorn and screamed,

"Watch out!"

Aragorn turned and punched the Mouth perfectly in his teeth. It groaned and backed up a little. Aragorn turned back to Frodo, but he was already gone. The Mouth gave a wild punch towards Aragorn, but he ducked and squirmed under the Mouth's tall legs. Then he stood up which made the Mouth tumble down the mountain violently.

Aragorn quickly cut the bounded rope off of his wrists from the Mouth's sword that had fallen out of his hand sometime in the struggle. Before he could pick up the sword, the Mouth clobbered him with a heavy rock that he had thrown at Aragorn's head. He grunted, but did not fall.

Reaching out he grabbed the handle of the Mouth's sword and swung it. Before the Mouth could dodge the blow, Aragorn chopped off its head and the Mouth's lifeless body and head fell to the ground with a thud. A clean slice.

Just then the ground started to rumble and a loud screeching noise sounded from Barad Dur. Aragorn saw the Eye's vision coming his way slowly across the valley of Mordor. He didn't want to Eye to see the dead body of the Mouth of Sauron, so he pulled the dead body and head behind a boulder. From the Eye's point of view, it wouldn't be able to see behind the boulder.

Aragorn crawled under the same boulder so the Eye could pass over the area without seeing anything. Aragorn held his breath as the Eye looked at the back of the boulder. The light from the Eye could be seen just inches from Aragorn's hidden boots. He stayed silent and waited about five minutes and still the Eye's gaze never looked away.

Suddenly Aragorn heard voices, but not from the Eye however. He squinted in front of him and he saw two Hobbits pointing at him. It was Merry and Pippin.

Oh, no. How did they get here!? Aragorn thought rather alarmed.

"Look Merry! It's Aragorn!" Pippin shouted proudly as he pointed at the man under the boulder.

What made things worse was that the hobbits started advancing closer to Aragorn. This meant they must go through the glare of the Eye.

"Don't move!" Aragorn called out.

But it was too late. Merry and Pippin both stopped right in the light of the Eye's sight. The ground shook again and the screeching noise began even louder this time. Both Hobbits looked up terrified at the Eye.

Although Aragorn could not hear words from the Eye, he knew it was talking to the Hobbits. He could tell by the way they shook and tried to move, but couldn't. Aragorn knew the Eye would hurt them and force out secret information, so he did what he must.

Aragorn stepped out from behind the boulder, from where he was safe, and ran towards Merry and Pippin fast before he got frozen too. He pushed them out of the cold stare of the Eye and they both fell backwards clumsily losing their balances.

Before Aragorn could even hope to also escape, the Eyes fierce gaze was upon him as well. He quickly closed his own eyes as an attempt to not get drawn into the Eye's words.

"You wi- llll die," the Eye said loudly, but slowly echoing through his mind.

It took all of Aragorn's inner power to push himself backwards and simply just to let himself go. He made himself lean backwards as he concentrated and soon enough he fell. Everything went black and blank in Aragorn's mind after that.

He woke up about a minute later and as he looked around him, he was alarmed to see that somebody was holding him. In the darkness of Mordor he could not see too well. The person holding him down had both of their arms linked under Aragorn's armpits and their legs were tightly secure around his abdomen. He struggled to get free. He disliked the feeling of being restrained by someone. Aragorn didn't really like getting touched in the first place anyway.

"Shh..." the person holding Aragorn shushed into his ear.

Aragorn could tell he was behind a boulder since there was a thick shadow covering his side of the boulder. The Eye's light was in front of him a little ways and he watched the gaze flicker and move on to a new area of Mordor.

That's when he felt the grasp around his stomach and arms loosen and he was let go. Aragorn crawled back to get a better view of the people around him. Then he stood up and saw that the Eye was far away now across the whole valley.

"Aragorn!" Aragorn heard from both his sides.

He looked down and saw Merry and Pippin both hugging him from either side.

"We are so happy you are all right!" said Merry.

Aragorn smiled and put both his hands on either of their backs.

"Where's Boromir?" said the person who had been holding Aragorn down a minute ago.

They stepped out and Aragorn recognized the man to be Faramir.

"Boromir and I were both captured by Sauron," Aragorn said.

"I'm sorry about what happened in Minis Tirith. My brother was right about you I'm sure," Faramir's face fell and he bowed his head a little, "Please trust me,"

Aragorn was surprised to see the young Gondorian Captain who had joined just to find his brother.

"We need to find Frodo," Aragorn said, "I saw him a moment before you guys spotted me," he looked down at Merry and Pippin who were still at his sides.

"Really?!" both Hobbits exclaimed at once.

Aragorn nodded.

"Then let's find him!" Merry said confidently.

A/N: The good stuff you have been waiting for is finally coming soon! I cant wait to share it with you guys! Its going to get intense :-D
