As the sun lifted, Rogue walked to the grazing fields to eat the morning meal. Taka then came looking Rogue.
"Rogue! Sweetheart! I have great news." Taka cantered over to Rogue. "What is it mom?" Rogue asked frantically.
"You're going to have a half brother or sister!" Taka's face filled with excitement. Rogue's expression dropped.
"That's great." Rogue nickered dimly and walked away. Taka was confused by the comment. Picasso soon walked out there.
"She ok?" Picasso asked worried. "I don't know. I thought she'd be happier." Taka looked into Picasso's brown eyes.
"She'll be fine, they will be able to go on adventures together." Picasso reassured Taka. "Now we have a way to split up the leadership, Rogue will lead DustHerd and our new foal will lead StreamHerd." Picasso smiled and Taka smiled back.
10 months later:
Rogue and Picasso waited outside the medic mares den, Taka was giving birth to her new foal. Picasso was pacing around, sweating.
"Nervous much?" Rogue asked, her legs ached from the hard training she did today.
"Yeah, what if the foal dies?" Picasso asked, still pacing. Rogue shook her head and sighed. The medicine mare came out of the den to report the news.
"The foal has lived! It is filly!" The medic mare cheered happily. Rogue just rolled her eyes. "May we come in?" Picasso asked and the mare nodded her head.
Picasso walked in the den first, Rogue following. "Wow, she's amazing." Picasso whispered to Rogue. Rogue just nodded her head. The foal was a black and white pinto.
Taka lifted herself up, "what name?" Taka asked Picasso. "Rogue would you liked to chose a name?" Picasso whispered, both parents staring at Rogue.
Rogue rolled her eyes. "How about Unwanted!" Rogue sneered and walked out of the den. Picasso and Taka looked at each other. "How about Charm, since she will be the most beautiful mare of all." Taka suggested and Picasso nodded his head in agreement.
Rogue was inflamed, tears streaming down her face. She walked quickly, wanting to get away from her life. She heard hoof steps behind her, it was Picasso.
"Rogue come back! Tell us what we did wrong." Picasso called. Rogue stopped and waited for Picasso.
She didn't face him. "Darling. Aren't you happy?" Picasso asked, his voice soft. More tears fell from Rogue. "Yeah. I am." Rogue lied. "Will you tell me the truth?" Rogue asked and Picasso was confused.
"Darling I would never lie to you." Picasso nickered comfortingly.
"Is Prince my father?" Rogue asked sternly, still not facing Picasso. Picasso sighed. "Yes, he is." Picasso said honestly. "Then why have you been keeping a secret all my life!?" Rogue yelled in fury, turning around. "Darling, Prince is bad, we don't want you to be like him." Picasso tried to reassure Rogue. "Don't call me darling!" Rogue snapped. The moon was glaring upon their matted fur.
Rogue shook her head in dismay. "Come to the nursery and we'll tell you the whole story." Picasso's voice was soft. Rogue agreed and they both headed to the nursery.
Taka was giving Charm milk when they came in. Taka and Charm laid down ready to go to sleep. Picasso walked in, Rogue behind him.
"Taka, Rogue wants to know about Prince." Picasso explained. "Yes, it is time you know." Taka agreed. Picasso laid down in the nest next to Taka and Rogue laid down in the next across Taka.
Charm was fast asleep so they had to talk quietly.
"When I first met your father, he was kind and loving. He helped me with my broken hoof and let me join ShadowHerd. " Taka explained. "The problem was, him and his brother didn't get along and that devoted him to turning against us. He killed his brother in his own anger, but I was able to turn him back and he fell in love with me again." Rogue gasped, she wouldn't have expected someone killing their own sibling, except her.
"It gets worse. We loved each other, went out every night and danced in the night sky, but we were born in different herds so we weren't aloud to become mates. But we did anyway. I told you about the story of Autumn, right?" Taka asked Rogue. Rogue nodded her head.
"She had a foal, her name was Stacie. She wanted revenge and one night attacked me and Prince. Prince wasn't strong enough and turned again. I trusted him so much, it broke my heart to see his eyes fill with anger and hatred. Stacie had pushed me into a fox trap and I couldn't fight or escape. Prince was about to kill when all of the sudden." Taka stopped making it suspenseful. Rogue gasped again.
"What?" Rogue asked.
"Whisper came and saved me. The two of them ran off and became leaders of BloodHerd. I was pregnant with you, still. One evening I was over with Picasso, and BloodHerd invaded ShadowHerd killing everyone but a few. Prince tied Hurricane, his father, to his pride rock and killed him. They killed all the new born foals and most of the soldiers. I was able to talk to Hurricane a little before he died. He was such a sweet stallion, I hated to see him go." Taka's eyes filled with depression.
"Hurricane is now with Aladdin in StarHerd though. I saved the survivors which included Midnight. It was time I had to kill Prince. Our herds teamed up against them, we won, driving them out the forest, I didn't have the heart to kill Prince. I then became mates with Picasso, then I gave birth to you." Taka's voice was soft.
Rogue was astonished. Her father was not bad, he was evil! "Wow, you said he was bad, but I didn't think this bad!" Rogue nickered.
Taka nodded her head. Rogue yawned and all four of them went to bed, ready for the morning sun to rise.
