Chapter 4: Tony's First Engine and Benito

So I'd figure I'd do about one chapter about him building his first engine. 3-4 (maybe 4-5 depending on length) chapters about MIT and his relationship with his parents. 1-2 chapters on his parents passing and how Percy comforts Tony and then Tony doing something that makes Percy disapprove. 1 chapter how Obie starts to act like Tony's parent and how Tony depends on Obie. Then a chapter on how he becomes CEO and does things Percy disapproves of as CEO in one other chapters.

Maybe a chapter how he met Pepper, but pretty much after roughly 10 chapters we'll get into Iron Man 1. But here's something I want you to think on, should Pepper be his girlfriend before or after the first movie? Because I can change a few things easily enough and have Tony ACT like an arsehole and narcissistic but's it's up to the people.

This is going to be a long book..

Tony's Age: 6 years old

Percy's Age: 20 years old Mentally (2 year old wolf body--slow aging)

Reporters capture a lot of things and decide on what should be the front page. One of those being Tony Stark age 6 on a motorcycle sitting in front of Howard who had a proud look on his face while Tony was beaming at the camera.

The headlines and then the article explain how Tony built his first engine without Howard's help. How he then put it with a motorcycle with Howard's help.

What the article doesn't explain in truth, is Howard's and Tony's relationship. Said relationship plummeting since Tony has become more of the world and it's expectations.

How he notices his father's attention was never on him. How Howard never came to one of Tony's Science Fairs that he always wins first place at. How he was always muttering to himself about locations in the ocean and where Steve Rogers--Captain America--might have fallen.

The sad part was, I could tell Tony tried to hate Captain America, but the man had done so much and his adventures made it hard to hate the man.

The man that has stolen his father's attention away from the growing, genius boy. So instead of Howard's spot at Science Fairs.

Mrs.Stark paid people to let me sit there, right beside the sick woman who should probably be in bed instead, and right beside Jarvis who seemed to bring it upon himself to act as Tony's father--or male role model.

And after each event, we would stop by a small ice-cream shop that was very discreet and got Tony a scoop of vanilla ice-cream in a small cone who then shared it with me where I would at some point go in for a lick but actually take a bit out of the cone.

Tony didn't like his relationship with his father, but he was content for the moment with Maria, Jarvis, and me all worshiping him and making sure he was never too sad.

And if he was distraught at night, I never mentioned it and instead just licked up the salty tears he may have produced, I let him cry into my fur, and after a while I would let him snuggle into my fur to fall asleep while clutching said fur in a slightly tight grip.

But there were times when I cursed Howard and sometimes even Steve at times. Because Tony needed his father.

Needed someone to talk to that was a genius like him. That could follow his theories and ideas that bounce around in his head. Someone that understood him and his crazy explanations.

So I did a crazy thing on day, after much consideration in my head. I changed into my human form and spent the day with Tony just shrugging and saying, "Hey, you asked for someone to talk to." and at times would go 'invisible' by dragging air molecules (which contained water thank you very much) and made it swarm around me to hide me.

I became Tony's imaginary friend because he needed someone to talk to. Someone to rant to, a person to talk science and understood him like I do.

Somehow, after not telling him my name--was given the name Benito, which in Italian meant blessed. A language that Tony's own mother spoke and had originally came from Italy and was teaching Tony Italian.

But he mostly just called me Ben when he was around his mother and Jarvis who never say me but had this look in their eyes like they knew exactly who 'Ben' was especially when they asked where Percy was and Tony just responded with a shrug, then grabbed my hand to drag me away to do something.

There was one person who Tony never talked to me when he was around.

Howard made it clear to his son that imaginary friends were for those who were not genius'. The people that Tony should not become. Of course Howard was drunk at the time of his slurred speech that ended with him slapping Tony who tried to argue that Ben was real.

That day Tony kept his mouth shut around his father and never talked about the small hand-print that was around his cheek and only allowed me to touch it. When I did while feeling anger at Howard for his foolishness and idiotic, I healed his cheek with the water in the air.

"Why doesn't he like me?" Tony asked me one day as we were sitting on his bed overlooking a Captain America poster.

I kept quiet for a few minutes, feeling like a test was now in front of me and slowly gathered my thoughts before speaking, "You're father is a complicated man." I started and could feel Tony start to hate me but I quickly continued at my original pace, "but that does not excuse his actions. I don't know if he likes you or not, but I can say that I am very disappointed in him. His hunt for Captain America has gone on far too long." I said slowly making sure Tony understood what I was saying.

It was silent for a few moments before Tony asked another question, "Why does he hunt for Captain America?" his voice was quiet like he really didn't know the answer and was trying to gather his thoughts so he never had to really ask anyone before.

I stared at the poster with a small look of longing, "Your father was a good friend of Captain America along with Aunt Peggy and Uncle Bucky if you remember him. But most of all, your pet, Percy, was very close to Captain America himself. I know no one says it, but Percy is Captain Puppy. He's grown up and I know for a fact that he doesn't like what Howard is doing. But don't blame either of them for your fathers mistakes." I said quietly wondering how Tony would handle this news.

"I want you to go away." Tony said, his voice distraught but held conviction as I stared at him in shock.

"What?" I asked dumbly staring at the child who I knew thought of me as his best friend. The same boy who puffed up his chest and had fake anger in his eyes, "Genius' aren't suppose to be talking to imaginary people." he said with so much conviction that I almost believe he was telling himself the truth expect his eyes lied.

"You're just saying what your dad's been saying. What do you want to say and think Tony." I asked quietly, knowing that if he told me to leave...I will. It's Tony's choice whether I should go or stay, I never planned on staying past age 10, when Tony really would question my existence.

"Go." Tony said but his voice wavered and his eyes held tears in it, "Go and don't come back." he hissed but it was sloppy at best.

Ignoring my own panging heart, I stepped out of his room and drew the air around me to make me invisible.

But before I could change back into a wolf, I grabbed a pen and tore out of a small notebook on the table beside the phone.

Finished writing the small message, I changed into my wolf form before picking up the torn message in my mouth carefully.

Opening the not-fully-closed door with my nose. I walked to a distraught Tony and nosed his arm which hid his head.

"What?" Tony cried and half snarled at me. I simply dropped the message in his hand before jumping on the bed.

"You father may be a lot of things, but a good role-model he is not. -Benito the Blessed" Tony continued to cry and keep the note in his hand while I just sat beside him to comfort him.

After one last sniff, he quickly uncrumpled the note and placed it beside his Captain America card collection that he was so fond of, "I promise to do better Benito." Tony whispered to thin air before turning back to his bed where I was.

"Scoot Percy." Tony said softly as he quickly crawled under his sheets, his face full of exhaustion. I laid down beside him and felt his arms wrap around my body as we started for an afternoon nap after a long day of exhaustion.

With exhaustion I heard Tony ask, "You'll always be with me right Percy?" the question was so quiet that I had to strain my wolf ears for it. But when I did I licked Tony's cheek (earning a soft giggle) and quickly readied myself for watching over Tony as he slept.

He may not want Benito around him now, but I will always be by his side no matter how many times he may try to shoo me off.

Because no matter what, I am going to be by his side as he grows up. Even when he's all wrinkly and old I will be by his side because I just knew.

I knew that Tony will need me by his side through the hardships he will face throughout his life and idiotic people around him.

BE AWARE NOW, I WILL PROBABLY UPDATE ONCE MORE OR TWICE TONIGHT SO BE ON THE LOOKOUT.
