Alex and Mitsuki woke up the next day and ate a few rice balls for breakfast before continuing to go through Viridian Forest.
"If you won't tell me the flying type. Will you at least tell me the Pokemon you are looking for in this forest?" Alex asked.
"Xander, you will find out as soon as I encounter It," Mitsuki stated.
"You know, sometimes your no fun, Mitsuki," Alex said with a sigh.
"You just upset I won't tell you," Mitsuki stated. "We both know you enjoy my company."
"Alright, you got me there," Alex said with a smile.
The two boys continue to walk through the forest in silence when suddenly, a young boy wearing a white shirt and blue shorts walks up to them. He had a net sticking out from his blue bag on his back.
"You with the pale skin, the name Bug Catcher Rick and I challenge you to a Pokemon battle!" The bug catcher named Rick announced, pointing at Mitsuki.
"The name Mitsuki and I accept your challenge," Mitsuki said. "How many Pokemon do you want to use?"
"We both will use two Pokemon each," Rick said.
"Alright, ready when you are."
"Then let's begin," Rick said, grabbing a Pokeball.
"Good luck Mitsuki," Alex said as he sat against a tree.
Mitsuki nodded and grabbed a Pokeball off his belt and threw it, sending out his Ekans.
"An Ekans is not a bad catch," Rick said. "Alright, you're up first, my friend!" He said, throwing his Pokeball, and out came Weedle.
Weedle is a larval insect Pokemon with a segmented body ranging in color from yellow to reddish-brown. Each segment of its body is a sphere. It has a bulbous red nose, two small black eyes on its face, and two spherical feet on each body segment. The combination of red and yellow in its color scheme creates a bright warning to predators that it is poisonous. Weedle has a conical two-inch five-centimeter venomous stinger on its head and a barbed one on its tail.
"A weedle," Mitsuki said, looking at the Pokemon in front of him.
"Weedle, start oof with a poison sting!" Rick ordered.
"Weedle!" Weedle cried out as it fired purple needles towards Ekans.
"Kiyohime Dodge, and then use wrap!" Mitsuki commanded.
Kiyohime slithers out of the way, avoiding the incoming needles, then slithered up towards Weedle's, wrapping its body around Weedle.
"Weedle, break free using Poison Sting!"
"Stop it by using Bite Kiyohime."
Kiyohime opened her mouth and clamped her mouth onto Weedle's horn, stopping it in its tracks as it tried to use poison sting. Weedle then cried out in pain.
'Looks like Mitsuki is winning this round. Weedle doesn't have many attacks to depend on.' Alex thought as he saw Weedle struggle to get free.
"Weedle!" Rick shouted as Weedle fainted. "Weedle return. You did your best," He said, returning Weedle.
"Good job, Kiyohime. It looks like this round goes to me," Mitsuki stated.
"Yes, now for my next Pokemon," Rick said, sending out his next Pokemon; out came a Caterpie.
Caterpie is an insect Pokemon that resembles a green caterpillar with a yellow underside and teardrop-shaped tail. There are yellow ring-shaped markings down the sides of its segmented body, which resemble its eyes and are meant to scare off predators. Its most notable characteristic is the bright red antenna on its head.
"A Caterpie this time," Mitsuki said, looking at his opponent's next Pokemon."See why you call yourself a Bug Catcher."
"Yeah, I love myself some bug Pokemon," Rick replied.
"Kiyohime, use Wrap!"
Kiyohime let out a battle cry as she slithers toward Caterpie.
"Caterpie, stop it with String Shot!"
Caterpie then shot silky white string towards Kiyohime.
"Kiyohime, don't let Caterpie stop you!"
Kiyohime slithered around, avoiding the string coming her way, and wrapped her body around Caterpie the second she got close.
"Caterpie, free yourself and use Tackle!"
"Kiyohime, increase your wrap!"
Kiyohime tightens her hold on Caterpie as it continues to try and wiggle free from Ekans have on it.
"Come on, Caterpie!"
Caterpie tries to break free from its hold as Kiyohime's tail begins to weaken slightly.
"Impressive that Caterpie got a strong determination, but this match is over," Mitsuki smiled. "Kiyohime Bite!"
"Ekans!" Kiyohime cried out, clamping her mouth onto Caterpie as she was still wrapped around it.
"Caterpie!" Caterpie cries out in pain, fainting.
"Caterpie, return," Rick said, calling back Caterpie. "Looks like you win, Mitsuki. Good battle."
"Yes, nice job, Kiyohime. Take a nice rest," Mitsuki said, returning his Ekans.
"Not bad, Mitsuki. You won your first trainer battle," Alex said, walking over to Mitsuki.
"Well, lovely battling you. I have more bug Pokemon to catch if I become a bug-type Pokemon master!" Rick shouted, taking off to catch more bug Pokemon.
"What an interesting guy," Alex said.
"Yeah, well, we better get going as well," Mitsuki said.
Alex nodded as he and Mitsuki continued their journey throughout Viridian Forest.
~•~•~
Alex and Mitsuki were now taking a break from walking to eat lunch and feed their Pokemon as well.
"After we eat, we continue through the forest," Alex said, giving his Pokemon their lunch.
"Agree, and it looks like we should be out of here by nightfall if we don't take any detours or wrong turns," Mitsuki stated, giving his Pokemon their lunch.
Once the Pokemon had the food, Alex and Mitsuki started eating their lunch, which consisted of cooked rice.
"You packed most of your favorite lunches, I see," Alex said.
"Well, of course, why pack something I wouldn't eat on my journey?"
"I wasn't judging you, just a fact I was making."
"I know."
After a couple of minutes of eating, the two were now cleaning up their supplies as a rustling sound was heard in the bushes. A few seconds later, a Pokemon appeared out of the bushes.
It was a short chubby rodent Pokemon. It was covered in yellow fur with two horizontal brown stripes on its back. It has a small mouth, long pointed ears with black tips, and brown eyes. Each cheek is a red circle that contains a pouch for electricity storage. It has short forearms with five fingers on each paw, and its feet each have three toes. At the base of its lighting bolt tail is a path of brown fur.
"There is the Pokemon I was hoping to encounter," Mitsuki said, pulling a Pokeball.
"Really?" Alex questioned, taking out his pokedex and scanning the Pokemon that appeared.
"Pikachu, the Mouse Pokemon. When several of these Pokemon gathers, their electricity can build and cause lightning storms. It keeps its tail raised to monitor its surroundings. If you yank its tail, it will try to bite you. Pikachu is an electric type."
A Pikachu is what you were looking for," Alex said, putting away his pokedex.
"Yes, come on out, Blossom!" Mitsuki said, sending out his Chickorita.
"Chickorita!" Blossom cried, ready to battle as it spotted Pikachu.
"Pikachu!" The wild Pikachu cried out, seeing Mitsuki and Chickorita.
Pikachu began to build up the electrical in its cheeks, ready to attack.
"Blossom Razor Leaf!"
Blossom shook the leaf on her head, sending sharp green leaves at Pikachu. Pikachu then zapped the leaves, burning them into a crisp.
"Nice move," Alex said.
"Blossom, another Razor Leaf!"
Blossom once again fired razor leaf at Pikachu, but this time the leaves hit Pikachu.
"Pikachu!" The Pikachu cried out as the leaves it knocking it to the ground.
"Now use Tackle!"
Blossom ran towards Pikachu as it began to get up off the ground.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu cried out, jumping out of the way as it sent an electric shock at Blossom, stopping her in her tracks.
"Once again, Tackle!"
Blossom once again ran towards Pikachu and tackled it to the ground.
"Now, Razor Leaf!"
"Chickorita!"
Blossom released a Razor Leaf at Pikachu before it had a chance to get back up.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu cried out in pain as it tried to get back on up.
"Pokeball Go!"
Mitsuki threw a Pokeball at the Pikachu before it could get back up to attack.
The Pokeball hit Pikachu and sucked it inside of the ball. The Pokeball shook for a couple of minutes until it finally clicked, and the red light flashed in the center.
"Pikachu, your mine," Mitsuki said as Blossom brought him the Pokeball in her mouth.
"Excellent job, Blossom," Mitsuki said, taking the Pokeball. "Now return," He said, returning her.
"Now you have a team of three," Alex said.
"Yeah, meaning we can have a three-on-three rival battle before we split up," Mitsuki said.
"Looking forward to it," Alex said as they started walking again.
Alex and Mitsuki continued their way through the Viridian Forest. Along the way, they battle more trainers that are in the forest.
Now it was finally nightfall as the two had finally reached the end of Viridian forest.
"We're finally out of that forest," Alex said.
"Yeah, and Pewter City is just up ahead," Mitsuki said, pointing at the sign.
"Let's go. I could use a nice dinner and rest before are gym battle!" Alex cheered, rushing ahead.
"Alright, I'm coming," Mitsuki called out, following after Alex.
