Y/N's POV

I leaned against Gem's house as B/F/N and I waited for her to clean up.  My eyes were closed and I was thinking.

How were we gonna prepare for my father?  We had no reinforcements outside ourselves....

Wait....

Oh...I could call on THEM...but...they don't even know we exist, much less whether we're good or not....

Before I could delve deeper into this idea, Gem came out.  I opened my eyes to see her in some casual clothing.  "I'm ready!"  She said happily.

B/F/N nodded and stretched a bit.  "Alright!  Thisaway!"

He started walking away and me and Gem followed a little behind.

"So...daughter of Herobrine, huh?"  She asked quietly.

I nodded, taking off my glasses and fiddling with them as I looked down.  "Yeah....  I don't think Father really considers himself as my father anymore...."

I looked at her and she seemed intrigued with my eyes.  "Why do you still call him Father?"

I chuckled humorlessly.  "It's kinda weird to be calling someone who's been raising you pretty much your whole life their actual name.  Besides...I feel uncomfortable calling him Herobrine.  Father just sounds less dangerous."

She hummed a little.  "And...the eyes?  Have you always had his eyes?"

I shook my head as I put my glasses back on.  "No....  They used to be E/C like my mother's eyes...were, but...about a year ago or so, they faded out into pure white and lit up.  Though...I don't understand as to why (Sister's Name) has purple eyes...."

"Oh...is your mother...gone?"

I nodded.  "She died after giving birth to S/N.  Father was so upset....  I was 9 at the time....  When S/N was 3, Father...got REALLY mad about something....  It scared me, so I ran away.  I accidentally ran through the portal and found this world.  It was love at first sight.  I wandered until I bumped into B/F/N in the middle of a forest.  The very forest in which this base is built under.  I was deprived of food and water, but B/F/N took care of me and we became close friends almost instantly.  We dug a small home in the ground and stayed there.  Just the 2 of us.  Then someone stumbled across our home and they, too, joined us.  Then another.  And another.  And so on.  And soon, we had a small army.  Together, we named it the N/A army, named the followers N/F, and then your symbol, the S/A, I made.  Everyone wanted me to be the leader...so...here I am, I guess...."

I paused for a moment then giggled.  "Sorry.  I tend to ramble."

Gem shook her head.  "It's super interesting!  I never really knew of the origins of this army, so hearing it from the leader themselves is awesome!  It's a total privilege to talk with you!"

I smiled.  "I don't really ever think of myself as leader-like.  I just want to close the awkward gap between leader and follower by interacting with my followers as if I'm a follower myself.  The only time I'm really using my leadership position is when we get a new N/F.  I rarely use that position otherwise."

I looked ahead to see B/F/N enter a large building of some kind.

Both Gem and I ran to him and entered the building.

I gaped at the sight.  It was a really huge open room with dummies and weapons and stuff.  And people fighting.

B/F/N turned to me and smirked.  "Welcome back to the training building!  Obviously, we upgraded it since you were gone."

I nodded as I looked around.

"Woah...."  I muttered.

"So...why are we here?"  Gem asked.

"To train Y/N, of course!"  B/F/N exclaimed happily.

"Wait, what?"

"You never really learned how to fight, remember?  Late is better than never if you're gonna learn."

Huh.  Ok then.  I have been interested in knowing what my natural fighting style is.

B/F/N led me and Gem over to a weapon rack.  It had swords, daggers, bows, weapons that you wear on your knuckles, and so many others.

"I think it's best to start with the sword.  Most people are pretty natural with it."

He handed me a wooden sword and picked up his own, beckoning me over to a mat.

I held the sword in my hand.  It fit pretty well, but...it didn't feel right.

"Come at me."  B/F/N said simply.

I stared at him for a moment before raising the sword and going towards him.  I swung down somewhat weakly and he blocked it easily.

"That was kinda weak.  Try again."

I sighed and swung a little harder.

"Better...but it doesn't seem to come naturally to you, does it?"

I looked at the sword and swung it around a bit.  "Not really.  It feels...awkward."

"Hmm...let's try blocking.  Block my attack."

He came at me and I immediately defended correctly.

He cocked his head a little and smirked before coming at me again.

He swung to my side and I blocked it easily.

"Huh...you can block but not attack?"

I shrugged.  "I dunno.  I've had to be pretty defensive most of my life, physically and emotionally."

A small crowd of N/F had gathered on the edges of the mat.  They seemed pretty interested in seeing me learn how to fight.  Funny that I'm the leader and I can barely defend myself....

B/F/N came up to me and took the sword, looking at it before putting his and my sword back on the rack.  He seemed to look through the weapons before pulling out a simple bow and arrow.  The bow shone a light purple, so I guess it was Infinity I since one arrow would suffice.

He handed me the bow and arrow.  "Try shooting one of those dummies over there."  He said, pointing about 10 blocks away to a slightly worn dummy.

I studied the arrow and bow for a moment before nocking the arrow in place.  I slowly pulled back and released.

The arrow fitted itself into the dummy's shoulder.

"Have you ever shot one before?  A bow?"

I shook my head.

"That was freakishly good for a first shot.  Try again."

The arrow was already nocked from the last shot due to the enchantment, so I pulled back, aimed, and fired.

The arrow went straight to where the heart would be.

Without waiting for a response, I pulled back the arrow over and over, shooting it at the dummy.

Most found their way to the dummy's chest, but a couple went into his abdomen and one is his neck.

Ouch.

"Oh my Notch, Y/N!  That was amazing!"  B/F/N exclaimed.

I grinned.

"Hmm...if you're proficient in bow...you'll need a bow-shield."

"A...bow-shield?"

He nodded.  "They're specially made shields for bowmen so they can defend whilst attacking without the aid of a swordsman.  It allows them to have nearly complete mobility of their arms so they can still shoot arrows, but it allows them to defend in close-range attack."

He went back over to the rack and picked up a mediumish shield and his sword.  He came back and strapped around my arm that I pulled the arrow back with.  He then backed up, allowing me a moment to adjust to the shield.

It was a little heavy, but it was manageable...ish.  It felt awkward like the sword was.

"Ready?"  He asked.

I nodded.

He came at me and I blocked with the shield.  My blocking was...pretty bad, though.  His sword almost slid off my shield...well, into my torso if he were trying to kill me.

He pondered a bit before attacking again.  This time, the blocking failed miserably and the sword hit my side a little.  It didn't hurt at all, but it still was pretty bad blocking.

"This is...not looking good...."  I muttered as I slid the shield off.

B/F/N sat his sword point-down on the ground and leaned on it a bit, thinking.  "I wonder....  Hey, Gem."

Gem jumped a little.  "Uh, y-yeah?"

He handed her the wooden sword.  "I have an idea...."

He came to me and took the shield and bow and arrow.

He sat them on the rack again and then went into a small room near the rack that I hadn't noticed.

I was confused as to what he was doing.

He then came back out holding...a diamond...sword?  Bow?  Huh?!

He grabbed a wooden sword and handed me the...sword-bow-thing and an arrow.

"Uhh...the heck is this?!"  I asked, looking at the slightly dusty weapon.

"Try it out.  See if the bow works for you."

I notice a pale purple glow on the entire weapon.  I immediately knew it had at least Infinity I, but...the sword part confused me.

I nocked the arrow again and pulled it back a few times...felt right.

I shot it at a dummy next to the near mutilated one a few times.  All of them landed in the chest area.

"Take the arrow off."  B/F/N said.

I pulled the arrow off and....  "Uh, where do I put it?"

He laughed and went over to the rack, grabbing a freakishly tiny quiver.  "Whoops.  Sorry.  Here.  This is specifically designed for bows with Infinity I.  It only holds one arrow, but it makes it easier to carry around instead of lugging about 40-something arrows when you only need one."

I nodded and took the quiver, putting it over my head like a shoulder bag.  I slid the arrow in.

"Try blocking."

He came at me and my grip on the bow immediately changed to gripping the handle part of the weird hybrid weapon.  He made several fast attacks at me, and yet...I blocked them all perfectly.

B/F/N backed up, looking absolutely astonished.  "This is a one-of-a-kind weapon made a couple years ago.  We've tried to get people to be melee and ranged, but this particular weapon never worked out.  Yeah, some people can melee and range attack, but only when switching between weapons.  This never really clicked with anyone.  Except you.  It's a diamond swordbow."

"Woah...."  I muttered as I looked at the swordbow in my hand.

That is freaking COOL!

The N/F were grinning all around me.  I guess they thought it was cool to see me learn....  I dunno.  The crowd was a little larger.

"Hey, do we have any defense sorcerers in here?"

"I am!"  Said a familiar feminine voice.

I turned to see Rachel walk onto the mat, grinning widely.  She was wearing a pink cloak.

"Woah, Rachel?!  I didn't know you were a sorcerer!"

She nodded.  "I specialize in close combat defense!"

"Perfect!  Rachel, can you cover Y/N in an anti-melee spell?  I'd rather not have one of us stab her by accident."

Rachel nodded and looked at me before pointing her hands at me, her face scrunched up in concentration.

I watched as little pink tendrils of magic came from her hand and wrapped all around me until it was like a pale pink suit of armor.

"This isn't a spell we use for legitimate combat.  It wears the sorcerer down very fast.  We use these kinds of spells to practice as if we were in the real thing.  Basically...."

He suddenly came rushing towards me and jabbed the sword super fast and hard into my abdomen.

I winced until I saw the pink magic creating a small barrier right where the point was.  "...I can attack as if I were trying to kill you and be unable to actually do so."

B/F/N pulled back with a grin.

"Awesome, right?"

I nodded, though I was still a bit confused as to what he was doing.

Rachel backed off the mat and put her hands down, but the pink armor still surrounded me.  Her face was still  a tiny bit scrunched up.

"Do we have any anti-range defense sorcerers?"

2 boys who looked to be in their mid-teens came forward.  One was in a blue cloak and the other in a lime green.

"Ah, hi, Mike!  Hi, Nick!"

The two boys grinned.  "Yo!"  The blue cloaked one said.

"Could you two cover us with the anti-range spell?"

They nodded and did the same thing to Gem and B/F/N as Rachel had done to me.

"Basically, if you shoot at us anywhere on our bodies, their magic will catch the arrow and throw it away from us, though, in this case, it'll just kinda disappear due to being an Infinity-based arrow."

"So, wait, what are we doing here?"

"We're gonna see how well you could do in a melee fight.  Ready?"

He and Gem readied themselves.  I pulled my arrow out, nocking it.  Mike and Nick backed off the mat, though their magics didn't disappear from Gem and B/F/N.

I nodded.

He seemed to grin evilly.  "Fight!"

Both he and Gem came at me at the same time.  I changed my grip to the handle, blocking off B/F/N's attack before turning and blocking Gem's.  I shoved them both away in the process and quickly changed my grip to the bow, firing a few arrows at them almost like a minigun.

B/F/N raised his sword and the arrow bounced off and disappeared.  Gem tried to duck and roll, but one caught her in the foot, or, uh, the magic around her foot.  The magic threw the arrow away and the arrow disappeared.

B/F/N came at me and I was unable to change my grip, so I raised my swordbow so the outer edge of the bow was blocking.  He hit the bow edge and I stumbled a bit, actually falling backwards.

Gem had gotten up and came over, raising her sword and bring it down horizontally onto my torso.  I quickly rolled out of the way, kicking B/F/N's feet out from under him.  He tumbled backwards and I put my sword part to his neck.  He froze, seeming to study me.  I nearly forgot about Gem, but luckily, I adjusted the angle of my swordbow so that I now had an arrow nocked and ready to be shot at Gem and the sword end still at B/F/N's neck.

Gem also froze, looking astonished.  We were still for a moment before I laughed.  "That...WAS EPIC."

I destressed the bowstring and took the arrow off, putting it in the mini quiver.  I pulled away from B/F/N and started to get up, but I knew what was coming next.

Gem came forward to stab me in the back, but I quickly whirled around while on my knees, blocking her attack.  I pushed back really hard as I got to my feet, causing her to stumble and fall onto her back.  I quickly renocked my arrow, pulling it back again.

"Dangit!  I thought that would've worked!"  Gem whined.

I didn't destress the bowstring in case they got any ideas to attack (because the magic was still active, I knew they could attack if they wanted to), but I did laugh.  "Gem, come on now.  I'm the leader of an extremely stealthy army.  I've had to train myself in the arts of combat deception but, uh, not the physical practice, and sensing another's presence.  I won't be taken down THAT easily, even though I've never really been in physical combat before.  Besides, the magics were still up.  I knew something was gonna happen."

B/F/N chuckled and stood up, helping Gem up.  They walked over to the rack, the magics both on them and me disappearing.  I then destressed the bow and put my arrow right back up again.  I started towards the room to put the weapon up when B/F/N stopped me.  "Keep it.  Trust me, I doubt anyone else will ever figure out how to use it like you do."

I smiled thankfully as Gem came over, handing me a sword sheath that could hang on my side.  I took it and strapped it on, sheathing the swordbow.  Now my swordbow was hung on my dominant-hand side and my quiver on the other.

I hugged B/F/N as the N/F began to disperse.  "Thank you."  I whispered happily.

He hugged back.  "No problem.  Another welcome back gift."

I laughed and pulled away.  "And just how many 'welcome back gifts' do you have?"

"Uhh....  I plead the fifth!"  He said.

"The...fifth?  Of what?"

He shrugged.  "I dunno."

I rolled my eyes and turned to Gem.  "Thanks for hanging with us today.  That was fun!"

She giggled.  "No prob!  It really was fun!  Well, I gotta go!  Mom is kinda expecting me soon....  Bye!"  She ran off.

I chuckled quietly and looked to B/F/N.

"Hey...B/F/N?"

"Yeah?"

"I think I've got a plan...a really risky one....  Come, let's head to the throne room.  See if you can get Candid, Bren, Garrett, and Gem in there, too.  But, uh, wait a few hours before actually getting them.  Gem should probably spend time with her family...."  I grinned sheepishly.

"Why Gem?"

I shrugged.  "I dunno...I just have a feeling that she should come...."

He chuckled.  "Ok!  I'll go get them in a bit!  See you in few hours, Y/N!"

He turned and ran off.

I paused, frowning.

Why DID I want Gem to come...?
