Y/Nbrine's POV
"Try again, Y/Nbrine." Father said calmly, his arms crossed as he watched me.
I huffed in frustration and concentrated harder, attempting to change my appearance once again.
Yeah, we found out my secret power a couple days ago when I wanted to hide my somewhat ugly appearance. My arm had become normal for a few seconds.
Glamour, Father had called it. The ability to change my appearance to that of...well, whatever I wanted. The only limitations were that of my imagination and my size and voice. I couldn't glamour myself to look like a baby or sound like a man.
I closed my eyes and kept concentrating.
"Ah...Y/Nbrine, interesting choice."
I opened my eyes, looking down at myself. I had done it! My clothes and skin and hair were no longer visible, hidden under the facade of Father's appearance. Yup, I had attempted to look like Father.
Said person conjured a mirror so I could look at myself. I looked excitedly at the mirror only to become confused. I looked at myself again away from the mirror to see that I did indeed look like Father, but I looked like myself in the mirror.
"Father, I believe I found a weakness with my power...." I muttered, looking at the mirror.
Father glanced at the mirror in curiosity. "Hmm...it seems that mirrors reveal your true form. Interesting. But you did indeed use your glamour to transform into me. Good job!"
I beamed with pride. "Only model myself with the best!"
Skybrine came in then, pausing for a moment at the sight of two Fathers. He grinned at me, being able to sense the differences in our auras to determine who was Father and who was me. "Nice, Y/Nbrine! Though it would be scary for anyone else to see two Herobrines, it's not the best for your mission."
I stuck my tongue out at him and focused, changing into a generic Minecraftian with blue eyes. "Is this better?"
Father nodded. "You don't have the eyes quite right. They're more of a glossy blue than a typical blue, but it should do well enough for your mission."
"I wish I could see what they look like, but your evaluation will have to do, Father."
He nodded slightly, looking at my true form in the mirror. "Just avoid reflective surfaces and you'll do fine."
I glanced at the bizarre collection of skins that was me in the mirror. I could feel Y/N's distaste for her appearance, but personally, it didn't bother me...that much. It wasn't like we could do anything about it now. At least, nothing tangible. If Y/N ever had control again, I knew she'd attempt to hide her skin with something other than a cloak. Maybe she'd even glamour herself to look like how she'd look without Father's experiments.
I derailed that thought, taking off the glamour. "So explain the plan to me one more time so I don't forget."
Skybrine grinned maliciously. "Simple. Glamour yourself and see what you can learn from the team."
Father added on some things. "I don't know how long you can hold the glamour, so be quick about it. We want to know if they've made that terrible potion that changed Skybrine back to Sky last time. And how many of them. Also, figure out S/N's status. See if you can grab her and bring her back to us. The influence for her wouldn't be as strong as it was for you two, but it's still doing something, I know that much. ...and be careful." He added that last sentence after a moment, a little worry seeping through his calmness.
I grinned ferally. "Oh, what can they do, Father? I may not be immortal, but their kindness, their want to keep Y/N alive, will be their downfall."
Father placed a hand on my shoulder, the worry now plainly obvious. "Skybrine thought the same, and it was his downfall 4 years ago." Skybrine grimaced at Father. Father continued. "Don't be cocky, you hear? They're crafty."
I smiled, the ferality gone from it. "Hey, even if we fail at taking them down, we still have S/N's time. What is it, 10 years from now? That's plenty of time for you to plan the grandest battle of them all against the kingdom. And that's a total if. They don't know my powers. They'll never know what hit them."
"I suppose you're right. Just be careful. They've upped their guard since we've attempted multiple times to nab S/N with your N/F."
I sighed. "I don't even know if they're being killed or not. They just never come back with S/N."
"Don't let her emotions for the N/F get in the way, now. Remember, unlike you, they're expendable." Father warned, looking me in the eyes.
I nodded slightly. "I know, Father, I know. Don't worry, I'll be careful."
I then tilted my head. "Or maybe...I won't be careful. Not entirely. I want to get close, right? What's closer than being escorted in as an N/F? I could disguise myself as one, figure out what's happening with them. Maybe get that info I want and S/N, as well."
Father sighed. "Reckless, but doable. If that's how you want to proceed rather than stealth, go for it."
"Eh, it's semi-stealth and probably being caught. I do believe Y/N used a similar, unintentional method of getting into the kingdom."
Skybrine smirked. "Indeed."
Father nodded. "Alright. Just don't forget your training should you need to fight."
I nodded back, grinning. I was excited to find out what was happening to the N/F. Or maybe I was feeling Y/N's concern for them. Something like that, perhaps. I didn't really care. I think.
Anyway, I teleported myself to the Nether Portal near Father's fortress.
I readied myself and hopped through the portal.
I shivered at the cold cave temperature, the sudden change from familiar heat to coolness affecting me greatly.
I shook off the uncomfortable feeling and left the cave, emerging into the night.
I was glad it was night; it'd be easier to hide any inconsistencies in my disguise that I totally prepared just now.
I ran through the forest eagerly, excited for some action.
After a while, I arrived near the edge of the woods near the gates. I saw guards and pondered for a moment about what to do.
I then nodded to myself and pulled out my cloak. I glamoured myself into one of the N/F before putting the cloak over myself.
With a feral grin, I ran up to the wall and focused for a moment on myself. With slight difficulty, I managed to levitate myself up the side of the wall.
"Hey! Stop!"
Ah, here they come.
I got to the top of the wall and continued levitating myself to the ground on the other side.
I got down and started running towards the castle, glancing behind me.
As expected, there were some guards chasing me, one going faster than the others due to them having wings and flying towards me.
I cast a bit of magic on myself and gave myself some extra speed, now running about as fast as the person was flying. I think they were a little faster, though.
The hair on the back of my neck suddenly stood up and I dodged to the side just as an arrow flew past where I had been standing. I spun around and fired a bolt of lightning back towards the group. I nicked someone with it as they yelled out in pain.
The flying person tackled me suddenly and I fell to the ground, the hood of my cloak falling back. I yelled, "Reducite!" The person got thrown back as I swiveled around onto my knees and got back up.
"It's another N/F!" The flying person yelled. "Clearly a sorcerer!"
I scoffed. "You think? Now, leave me alone. Herobrine wants his daughter back."
I turned again when another arrow came at me. I easily dodged to the side, not anticipating another arrow. I yelled in pain when the arrow embedded itself into my leg.
I fell to a knee and pulled out the arrow swiftly before the pain became too much. My pain tolerance clearly hadn't upped itself much since I came to be in control.
"S-Sana." I muttered under my breath, healing the wound.
I was about to get back to my feet when I felt a blade on the back of my neck. "Don't even think about it." The person with the blade said.
I paused, smirking. "Thought about it."
I could practically feel the eye roll they did. "Smartass...."
I chuckled some.
The other guards surrounded me, looking at me. "Should we get S/N up to change her back?"
Change me back? What does that mean? And why would they need S/N to change me back? Does she have some kind of power?
So many questions filled my head at this question they asked....
"Probably. The sooner she's changed back, the better."
The guards told me to get to my feet at this point and I did, the pain in my leg now gone.
The flying person took off towards the castle, which I assumed was where S/N was.
One of the guards that surrounded me took out an uncomfortably familiar bracelet.
Oh no. If they put that on me, my glamour will come off!
"Don't you dare put that thing on me. I know what that is." I growled.
"Then you know why it's necessary while you're under Herobrine's control." He said simply, approaching me.
I lit my hands with white-colored magic, and all the guards pointed their swords at me. "You launch any kind of magic, and we stab you."
I faltered slightly, not really wanting to get stabbed.
My hesitation was visible and the guard managed to put the bracelet on my wrist before I could fight back further. My hands were no longer lit with magic now, and I could feel the glamour wearing off.
"W-What the.... She's not...." The guard stuttered, looking surprised at my appearance.
"Wait, that's...she's Y/N!"
I scowled slightly. "Y/Nbrine to you."
I tried doing anything with my powers, but the bracelet prevented it. "Notch dammit...." I muttered.
Why didn't I anticipate this...?
The guards got understandably more nervous since I was now a brine rather than one of the N/F.
I didn't have my weapon on me, either. I was gonna use my training to summon it to me if I had needed it. Clearly, I needed it now, but try as I might, I couldn't summon it to me.
I crossed my arms angrily as the guards started making me move towards the castle. "It would seem you've bested me...for the moment. Father will not be happy...."
The guards looked at me warily but said nothing.
And here I was, supposedly stronger than my brother, freaking captured. Sure, this was partially what I wanted, but not as Y/Nbrine. I was supposed to be one of the N/F trying to get to S/N.
As expected, they took me through the castle to the dungeons and put me in one of the cells. I had pulled my cloak hood back up, getting self-conscious from the stares of the guards. Or maybe they were just staring because I was a brine. I didn't know.
I should've just sneak-killed them instead of trying to sneak in....
I uneasily paced the perimeter of my cell, wanting to know what was going on. What was happening to the N/F and how was S/N changing them back?
The guards watched me closely, clearly uneasy with my constant pacing. It made them more uncomfortable when I messed with the bracelet, trying to get it off. It didn't work, but it was fun making them feel uncomfortable.
It was a few minutes before I heard several sets of footsteps coming toward my cell. I stopped my pacing and glanced out of the cell at the guards, seeing them look over, as well.
I watched as the remainder of Team Crafted minus the furry one showed up, looking rather bothered. S/N and B/F/N were with them. Their probable fears were confirmed as they saw me in the dimly-lit cell. "Y/Nbrine...." Seto muttered.
I grinned. "Hello, sorcerer. Well, not much of one at the moment, are you? You're welcome for that, by the way."
Seto scowled, his fists clenching slightly. "What are you doing here? Why did you come?"
I crossed my arms. "Simple reason. To figure out what you were doing, really."
"Y/N...please come back to us...." S/N said quietly, looking sadly at me.
"Y/Nbrine, dear sister." I corrected. "Y/N is no more. Unless you guys have made that horrible potion already."
The team glanced at each other worriedly. I rolled my eyes. "What? You used it on my brother 4 years ago; I know you planned to use it on me next."
"Well, yeah." Mitch said, leaning on a carved walking stick.
Why did he have a walking stick? Was he injured?
I really needed to get back to Father...having so many Team Crafted members missing or out of commission, even a little, was a boon for us.
"And where's the furry one? Jerome, I think?"
Mitch gritted his teeth some. "None of your business."
I smirked some. "Is he in pain like you are? I hope so."
"Shut up, brine." Mitch growled, clearly unhappy with my words.
S/N flinched some, growing further concerned. "I just want my real sister back, not someone who's under Father's influence...."
Even with my powers muted, I could sense a strange aura coming from S/N. A very small one, but it was there. I knew that Y/N never sensed an aura from S/N before.
"So you do have some semblance of power, little one...." I muttered, taking a step towards the bars. "I can sense it."
S/N looked down. "Guys, I know she's not one of the N/F, and it might fail, but I want to try...."
My eyes narrowed at her words. "Are you going to try to change me back like my N/F? It won't work; I'm too strong for your weak little powers, whatever they are."
"S/N, she's very hostile at the moment...she might hurt you." Seto said quietly.
"She doesn't have her powers at the moment, either, Seto. Just have Ian and Quentin hold her while I try."
I growled uneasily at her words, taking a step back. "Don't you dare."
Mitch grinned slightly. "Feeling scared, little brine?"
I flipped him off. Mitch just chuckled.
Ian and Quentin looked at each other and nodded before having one of the guards open the cell door. They both came in, followed by S/N.
I raised my fists, glad for the hand-to-hand training my father and brother gave me.
Ian slowly reached out to me. "Chill out, dudette, we're just trying to help---"
I swung at him and he dodged. Quentin took a step back, almost running into S/N, and took a deep breath before shooting a beam of ice from his mouth, hitting me in the chest.
I gasped as ice started to form around me. I quickly broke it off before it could encapsulate me, but the distraction was all Ian needed to grab my arm and twist it behind me.
I grimaced at the uncomfortable position and tried a technique to get him off me. Unfortunately, I forgot that Ian had greater training in hand-to-hand combat due to his past. When I tried throwing him off me, I actually barely budged him, hurting myself more in the process.
Quentin came over to grab my other arm. I swung out at him, too, but the position of my other arm had weakened my stance, so it wasn't nearly as strong of a punch as I would've liked. Quentin simply caught my fist and twisted it behind me, too.
I hissed slightly. "Ow! Let go of me!"
Mitch watched me with interest as S/N approached me. I kicked a leg out at her, making her back off with fright.
Quentin and Ian positioned themselves so that they stopped me from being able to kick S/N, or them, away.
I struggled a bit, but the way my arms were made it hurt a lot without any progress. Damn, I didn't realize how strong these two were....
S/N approached cautiously this time and reached a hand out, touching my shoulder. "Come back, Y/N...." She whispered, sounding anxious.
I narrowed my eyes at her and was about to say something when I felt...weird.
My head started hurting and I grimaced. "St-Stop...it...." I demanded quietly.
I squeezed my eyes shut, the pain escalating immensely.
"AHHHH!" I yelled, jerking away from her touch, my eyes flying open.
S/N stumbled back and fell to the ground, yelping at both her falling and my yell.
I started shaking in Ian and Quentin's grips, breathing heavily.
I could feel Y/N fighting back, having gained some form of power TO fight back.
"Y-You...little...b-brat...." I growled, though it sounded half-hearted.
"H-Her eyes...." Mitch muttered, looking stunned.
"Well...her one eye, it looks like...." Seto replied just as quietly. "It's a lavender color now while the other is still white...."
I glared at the two speaking before wincing. "Stop...fighting me...." I grumbled, still shaking.
S/N tried to stand up but looked too exhausted to do so. "I think...I think I just gave Y/N the power to fight back rather than ending Father's influence.... Though the voices in my head are...l-loud now...."
I grinned some. "So the influence is...bothering you, too...you really will be...something else once you join us...."
I looked down and shook my head, scowling. "Ow...."
Jason came into the cell and helped S/N to her feet, partially dragging her from the cell before I did anything unpredictable, even in my current state.
Ian and Quentin both let go of me and I fell to a knee, STILL shaking. They exited the cell and locked it up again before I could even consider getting back up and attempting to leave.
"I don't think she has the full power to fight back, S/N. I think the bracelet is also preventing Y/N from gaining any kind of control over the situation."
Great, so this bracelet was both preventing me from escaping and preventing Y/N from 'escaping'.
"Notch dammit...." I growled, holding my head. I looked up at the team, scowling. "I really hate...you guys."
"Hate you, too." Mitch grumbled, looking away.
Seto looked worried. "I have to go finish the potions. Ian, how rested are you?"
"Rested enough." Ian replied, glancing at me. "You want me to watch her?"
Seto nodded before turning away, looking at S/N. "Will you be okay?"
S/N nodded sluggishly. "Just...tired. And feeling weak. It might be a good idea for me to be alone for a while so the voices don't overwhelm me into hurting one of you guys...."
I noticed B/F/N looking sadly at me. Y/N was his best friend, after all. I just scowled at him, too, making him wince and look away.
It took me a moment to register some previous words. Potions? As in multiple? Oh no...so our hope that they hadn't prepared for both of us was in vain....
The team except Ian left along with S/N and B/F/N.
I twisted my head to the side, growling angrily. Y/N was trying her hardest to take control, but I wouldn't let her. I couldn't. Father would be furious with me.
"You won't win, Y/Nbrine." Ian commented. "Y/N has the strongest will to survive I've ever seen. Should that bracelet come off, you wouldn't be long for the Overworld. She will overcome you."
"Shut up, soldier." I growled at him, glaring.
Ian tched. "I'm not a soldier anymore, I'm a general. You'd do well to remember that, brine."
"Doesn't really matter when I'm gonna kill all of you eventually."
"Uh-huh. Just like Skybrine said he would and didn't."
"I'm stronger than him. Had I really wanted to come kill you, you'd all be dead."
"And yet here you are, in a cell, struggling to keep control. Not too dissimilar from Skybrine's situation."
My head twitched as Y/N continued to fight me. Would you shut up and keep quiet in there?! I growled mentally.
'Never. This is my body. I will take control again. My sister helped me. She did her part. Now it's time to do mine.'
"Ngh!" I groaned, wincing.
Ian watched me silently now.
I hope Skybrine comes to look for me because I really need his help now....
