Hiccups POV

"Alright you gotta be behind me" I said.

She frowned and scribbled on her notepad.

(Why can't I drive him?) she wrote.

"Well first you've never rode a dragon before toothless and we can't ride without each other my "leg" attaches to the latch controlling his prosthetic tail." I replied.

She looked down in shock. I guess she didn't notice I didn't have a real leg.

(My dad has one leg too his was from a bear attack but he has a peg how'd it happen to you?) she wrote.

"Long story short big evil dragon attack, I mean he must've been 100 feet tall. There are a few dragons that just can't be trained." I said.

I hopped onto Toothless and lifted her up onto him.

"Hold on tight." I said. "Go Toothless!"

We took off into the air.

Merida's POV

Oh my god we were up so high. It took all of me not to squeal with joy.

Hiccup started saying something.

"Toothless...... Don't you dare."

The dragon gave him an eye roll. Oh no.

"Hold on!!!" He yelled as I felt we were turning to the side. I gripped onto Hiccup with all my might as we spun in circles.

"Do you have to do this every time we bring someone new on you, you're not impressing anyone!" Hiccup shouted at the dragon.

Finally the dragon stopped and started to land near a cove of some sort.

"You okay?" He asked.

I shook my head yes even though I was still a little dizzy.

He tried to help me off but I fell from my dizziness. Right on top of him. Great Merida greeaat.

I looked at him to see if he was alright and he was laughing.

"Why is it every time I'm with you I end up making a fool out of myself." He said.

I smiled, then realized the awkwardness of this situation and got up and reached for my notepad.

(Actually this time it was me who was the clumsy one)

"True. But trust me I'll make a fool out of myself at least one more time today." He chuckled.

(Why did we land)

"Well Toothless likes to catch fish here and I thought we could talk.... Well you know what I mean." He said.

(Okay)

"Okay I'm sorry but can you at least tell me your name. My curiosity is killing me." He said.

I shook my head no but smiled while doing it.

"Okay can I try to guess it?" He asked.

I thought about this. I mean he's a Viking he probably wouldn't guess my name in a hundred years, he's also been nothing but nice to me. And I think he might just start guessing anyway. So I shook my head yes.

Excitement filled his eyes. "Alright is it Iris?"

(No)

"How about Mildrid?"

I glared at him. Really he thought my name would be Mildrid.

"Okay definitely not Mildrid, oh god don't tell me your name's Hiccup too cause you know that's such a popular name." He said sarcastically.

I laughed and shook my head no. I waited for the next guess but he just looked at me and smiled.

"Hey I think that's the first time I've seen you really laugh." He said.

I rolled my eyes.

"What?! It's a big thing, I made a girl who doesn't say even a word laugh let me feel proud."

(Whatever next guess)

"You gotta at least tell me the first letter."

(No)

"Well I can't keep calling you girl I found on the shore. That's a mouthful and your talking to the guy whose full name is Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the third." He joked.

(Still not telling) I scribbled.

"Okay I guess I could call you Mildrid for the rest of your stay." He smirked.

(Ugh fine you win my name starts with M and that's all you're getting.)

"That's all I need for now. I shall call you M, if thats okay. But I swear if I find out your name is actually Mildrid I'm going to totally rub it in your face for guessing your name right." He announced.

(Fine but that won't happen.)

"I think this is a start to a strange but great friendship." He said.

Authors note sorry for not posting earlier I've been doing my summer assignments that are due in four days ugh. Also sorry it's so short! Hoped you all liked it though! Next chapter Merida meets the gang. By the way just saying I love Astrid's character. So there shall be no hating on her. I keep reading other fanfics and some are just portraying her as a psycho ex girlfriend and I just think she's a lot better than that. So next chapter she's just Hiccup's friend nothing more.
