Merida's POV

I started regaining consciousness as I feel a light jostling. It seems that I'm being carried. I look up to see young man's face. "Don't worry you're going to be fine." He said. I just sighed and fell back asleep.

Hiccup's POV

She's asleep on our couch. This wild girl who had bruises on her wrists and ankles, looked like she hasn't eaten in days was now sleeping on the couch. My father warned me not to wake her up and just wait.

Unfortunately my curiosity got to the best of me. I started rummaging through old books to see if I could find any similarities to her outfit to find out what culture she was from.

Of course being the clumsy idiot I am, I dropped about three big books causing her to wake up.

She awoke with a jolt she cringed back in fear as if I was going to kill her.

Merida's POV

"Hey it's okay. I won't hurt you, I'm Hiccup, I carried you here, do you have a name?" He asked

The young man didn't look threatening but who knows he could have bigger friends. He told me that he didn't mean any harm and asked me my name. I still didn't trust him and did what Lenna told me. I stayed silent.

"Okay you're obviously scared," he said. "Here have some food." He said quickly handing me a cod. I took it and began eating. He handed me water and I gulped it down. "Not so fast, you're going to end up sick." He said. I rolled my eyes, but drank slower.

"Now do remember how you got there on the shore?" He asked.

My eyes began to water thinking of Lenna and how she died saving me.

"Hey it's okay? I'm sorry lets just forget about it okay?" He said sympathetically. I nodded.

"Here I'm gonna get you some more food from the market. I'll be back in a few minutes " I nodded.

He left me alone in this house. I decided to look around. I'm going to slightly trust Hiccup since he seems okay, but I'm still not talking. Who knows our countries could be at war and one word of my Scottish accent could cause his kindness to turn to deceit.

I looked at one of the books he dropped. It was like a journal only it had sketches in it. Most of them had dragons, but some were of the island or landscapes.

"Ah I see you found my sketchbook." He said smirking.

I pointed to the drawings and then to him.

"Yup I drew all of those sketches myself." He replied

"I gestured to him showing how impressed I was.

"Can you write?" He asked. I shook my head yes. He scrambled for a notepad and pencil and handed to me. "There that should be better." He said.

"THANK YOU" I wrote

We started talking. Well he talked, I wrote. He told me about his sketches apparently they had dragons here. I heard about countries having dragons as pets but I never thought I would go there! I told him vaguely of my life. Staying clear of anything royal related or Scotland related.

"Hiccup! Have you taken out Toothless!" A huge man who looked like one of the men on the ship came roaring in. Oh no they've found me! I hid underneath the table.

Hiccups POV

"Dad stop you're scaring her! I shouted.

"What all I asked.... Oh I'm sorry I didn't know she was up."

"Hey it's okay, that's my dad, he's not going to hurt you." I said. Nothing. Ugh well I guess I have to go after her.

I climbed under the table bumping my head in the process which earned me a little smile from her.

"Now remember you wrote that your dad was a big man but was very kind. Well my dad's like that I promise you he won't hurt you." I said.

She looked up and I guided her out from under the table.

Merida's POV

Hiccup got me out from under the table. I looked at the big man. He looked a little more cleaner than my captors. His beard was more tamed and his eyes were full of confusion.

"Dad this is...... I actually didn't get your name." Hiccup said.

I shook my head no.

"Fine, I'll wait. Dad this is the girl I found on the shore. Girl I found in the shore this is my dad Stoick the Vast.

"Nice to meet ya " he said "Sorry I scared you."

The man did truly look sorry so I shook his hand.

"There now that we're all acquainted I think it's time to take Toothless out for a ride." Hiccup said.

No he can't leave, what if they come back? I don't even have anything to defend myself with!

I tug on his sleeve and shake my head.

"You want me to stay here?" He asked surprised.

I shook my head yes.

"And I thought you didn't like me." He smirked.

I rolled my eyes.

"Well unless you want to ride on Toothless."

Ooooh riding a dragon that would be awesome!!

I shook my head yes.

"Alright, alright I'll take you on Toothless."
