It was morning. The birds chirped loudly and the crashing of the waves, against a huge ship, echoed in the peaceful atmosphere. The sun shone like a glowing diamond and bathed the 12 year old bluenette, Dawn, with it's golden light. Her eyes slowly scrunched and fluttered open. Scratching the back of her head, she yawned and looked around sleepily. Her eyes caught sight of a wooden floor underneath her and the open surrounding. The smell of the sea and the chirping of the seagulls seemed completely dream like.

Wow ...I am in..a ship..

Her eyes were still heavy from sleepiness and they automatically shut off. A few minutes passed by before she sat up with a sudden jerk. " I AM IN A SHIP?!!!!" Her voice was so loud and shrill that everyone on the ship turned their heads to look at her. Blood rushed to her pale face and made her face look like a ripened tomato. "S-sorry...I-I was dreaming...ahahahaha..." She said quickly fumbling up an excuse, laughing nervously. Some went back to their work while the others glared at her, annoyed.

Dawn nervously skittered away to a corner, hiding her face, where there were no people. She was always nervous around new people and she hated crowds. Scratching her head, which was an old habit of her, she tried to remember how she got on this ship and gradually all the memories rushed in. So all that was not a dream. She really met her twin sister. Her mother was still alive. Relief flooded her heart and mind, as she surveyed her situation. She was on a gigantic ship packed with loads and loads of people. They were travelling somewhere, and the people on this ship were dangerous. Feeling a weight on her shoulder, she touched it feeling a leathered strap. Slowly she put the backpack, that had magically appeared on her, down and looked through its contents. There were 2 pairs of outfits , some sharp knives , a pair of shoes, a notebook, a book containing information on hunter's , some chocolate cookies and lastly a note. "Damn you Midori. Why did you give me only 4 cookies ? " Dawn ate the cookies in a few seconds. Out of all the dishes, Dawn had always loved cookies. They were her life and her energy meds.

Picking up the note she started reading.

"To
Dawn,

I see you have woken up. I am extremely sorry for teleporting you straight to the ship. This ship is going to take you to the hunters exam site. Please maintain a low profile and take care. Don't go around eating too many cookies , little cookie monster. They will make you fat. And don't trust anyone easily...it is an exam and the other humans would definitely try to kick you behind...so be sharp.

"What a worrywart..." Dawn mumbled but in truth she was grinning ear to ear. It felt good to have someone that would worry about her. She was a little bit annoyed at the nickname she got though. No one gets fat from eating erm...a few jars of cookies..right? Dawn put everything back into her backpack and decided to explore the ship. She was excited because it was the first time she had travelled so far away from home. This is going to be fun! I bet I can find something interesting!

TIMESKIP:-

Dawn's eyes did not stop twitching . She had been exploring this ship, the past 2 hours and surprisingly there was nothing interesting! Come on! Wasn't this supposed to be the ship that takes everyone to the hunters site?!! Then how the hell is there nothing out of the ordinary?!! This ship is simply filled with stinky old men. Dawn's smiley face turned upside down in a tight frown. She was bored. Taking a seat in the corner of the ship she let her gaze drop on random people, sometimes talking to the birds. Living a lonely life with no human friends, Dawn had learnt animal and bird language, as they were the only ones that came near her without flinching. A beautiful white albatross sat on her shoulder, watching someone closely. Dawn's eyes followed it's gaze and landed on a boy of her age. Wait- A boy of my age!!??! Thank goodness! I am not the only kiddo here!!..

The boy had black spiky hair and was dressed in green jacket, green shorts and green boots. He had a yellow bag over his shoulder with a fishing rod. His overall attire was...well...unique. What a strange sense of fashion... He had beautiful bright hazel brown eyes that gleamed with purity and innocence. Dawn pondered between saying hello or ignoring him. She had never had a conversation with another human except her 'family' members or work people.

Feeling as though he was being watched , the green clad boy turned, his eyes landing on Dawn. A huge grin appeared on his face as he began walking towards her, his pace fast. Dawn who was lost in her thought didn't notice him standing infront of her, so when he suddenly spoke she was startled. "Hi!!! My name is Gon Freecs!!!! What is your name ?" He asked her cheerfully , his eyes gleaming with interest and curiousity. His cheeks glowed a light shade of peach showing off his cheery nature.

A PUPPY!!!!!!!!

"Um...?" The young boy, Gon, tilted his head in confusion as his question was met with silence. That snapped Dawn out of her thoughts. "I-I am Dawn." She managed to introduce herself as she shook his hand, calming the urge to hug him. "I did not expect to see any other kid other than myself! " he said sitting down next to her. Dawn nodded slowly, feeling shy. Humans sitting this close to her was new for her. Back in her dimension nobody dared come near her. But then again this boy did not know of her secret. It's better not to expect t-

"Let's be friends !!!! Ok?" The boy grinned happily. His simple statement took her aback. Friends...? He wants to become friends with me? Me? Nobody ever asked me to be their friend.... Dawn bit her lips. Should she accept or should she refuse? She had been desperate for friends or human contact throughout her life and right now she has a chance to make a new friend. But what if he learns about her powers? She didn't want to be judged again. Midori had warned her to keep a low profile, so that would mean she can't tell him her secret. Nodding her head she opened her mouth to speak but she was interrupted by Gon, who stood up abruptly, sniffing the air. Dawn raised her eyebrow in confusion.

"What's wrong???" She asked . His eyes scrunched up a bit as he stared intensely at the sky. "A storm is coming! I have to inform the captain about it." Gon said. "How do you know that a storm is coming???" Dawn asked incredulously. "The seagulls told me!" Dawn gasped when he said that. He can speak to seagulls?!!! He began heading towards the captain's cabin but stopped, looking behind at her. "Do you want to come with me???" He asked her. It's better not to get involved with him too much...Dawn shook her head. "Uh.....I will pass. I will wait in the room."

Gon nodded and dashed off. Dawn watched his retreating figure, her fringes hiding her eyes. Midori's earlier warning came to her mind. Non humans ..and humans..must never interact. A bitter smile crossed her lips. Would it be really ok for someone like me to have friends? Turning back, she headed to the room where the rest were. As soon as she entered the room, the murky disgusting scent of sweat entered her extremely sensitive nose. Her face nearly went blue and she did her best to not gag. Dawn took a seat next to the wall, her hand over her nose.

The pitter patter of rain soon broke the silence in the room. The beautiful clear blue sky had darkened with black clouds, which looked rather ominous. Dawn hugged her legs tightly to her chest as a loud thunder cackled, piercing the grey clouds with its light. She had always hated the loud noise of the thunder as it always reminded her of Jura. The ship jerked suddenly and she was nearly thrown to the other side of the room. The sea waves had gone extremely wild and were crashing to the ship with all their strength. "Tch! Gravitia!" She whispered and her body slowly stuck to the ground and the wall firmly. Her 6 years of training were finally coming to her use.

Sighing in relief, she observed her opponents. Most of them were groaning and gagging from sea sickness. Dawn sweatdropped. If they can't handle this...then they are surely gonna fail. Shaking her head, her eyes dropped on a blonde guy and an older man around 20, who were not affected by the storm. The black haired old man was eating an apple and was reading some sort of ero book, which made Dawn's eyes twitch. Pervert...she thought disgusted.

The blonde guy was reading an unknown history book. Dawn's eyes gleamed with curiousity at the sight of the book. I wanna read that. She had always loved books and had managed to buy a few of her own.

The blonde boy felt eyes pierce through him. The person staring had no malicious intent, just plain curiousity. Looking up from his book he spotted a tiny girl around 11 or 12 staring at his book intensely. Is..it just my imagination? Or did her eyes just turn into stars? Confused he went back to read his book, deciding to ignore her.

Dawn blinked when the blonde boy averted his eyes back to his book. Did ...I just get ignored???! Pouting she spotted the green clad boy, she met earlier, Gon. He was feeding the sick people some herbs and was running around offering water and some towels. That's kind of him.. Dawn smiled as she reconsidered his offer.

"Let's be friends, Ok?"

Should i accept ? Maybe.. it is not such a bad idea...maybe in this dimension people would come to accept my powers! Maybe I will find people like me!! Finally making up her mind she nodded to herself.

The door to the room suddenly burst open snapping Dawn out of her thoughts. Warily, she looked up to find the captain scowling at the candidates. His calculative gaze lingered on Gon, then the perverted old man, the blonde boy and finally landed on Dawn before widening a bit. He seemed to be really in shock, and was thinking something. Dawn could only look at him confused and wonder if she did something wrong.

The captain rechecked the girls appearance for a second time and his expression went grim. That girl....it can't be... "Looks like...the prophesy was correct..." he mumbled to himself. Shaking his head, he shut the door before walking out of the room.

TIMESKIP:-

Dawn gulped and prayed to God, to save her if she had gotten herself in a mess. Looking around sheepishly, she strained a small smile when Gon waved at her cheerfully. The blonde guy and the perverted man were also in the room watching the captain pace around.

"Tell me your names." He said- no, demanded. He had an air of authority which Dawn found a bit scary. Shuddering, she tried to kick the image of the monstrous woman, she had come to fear throughout her life.

"I am Gon Freecs!!!!" Gon immediately answered. He had no hesitation at all. The captain smirked at him and nodded pleased.

"I am Kurapika." The blonde guy, now known as Kurapika , said. Dawn noticed that he did not mention his last name. He seemed rather distant and cold. Would he tell me what book he was reading?

"Leorio Paladiknight." The old man said with a air of pride and arrogance, which was rather comical. Dawn bit her lips to keep herself from laughing. Ossan is trying to act like teen!!!! And his name reminds me of oreos!!!

When the room fell silent, Dawn felt the captain's and others eyes on her. Shifting awkwardly, she scratched her head, embarrassed.

"I am Dawn." She purposely left out her last name. She didn't want to use her fathers last name, as it only made her feel sad and mostly angry. Her mother's last name might draw unknown enemies afterall her mother got kidnapped in this dimesion and she was not exactly weak.

"Why do you want to become hunters???" The captain asked as he stopped pacing. Again, Gon was the first one to answer.

"I want to find my dad who is a hunter!!!! I want to know why he became a hunter instead of taking care of me."

Dawn's eyes went cold and she felt a pang of sympathy for the boy. Gon's father sounded a lot like hers. Both of them abandoned their children. The reasons might be different but it still pissed Dawn that Gon was abandoned by his dad. Taking in a deep breathe she focused on the captain. I will beat the shit outta him when I meet him. She made up her mind.

"Oi!!!! You were not supposed to answer that! Besides he is not even an examiner!" Leorio scolded Gon. The blue eyed girl cringed a bit at his loud voice. So loud!! What is this oldie patooties problem? Kurapika and Leorio did not state their reason. They chose to keep their reasons secret. The captain's eyes once again landed on Dawn. "What about you kid? Why do you want to become a hunter?" The captains voice was soft and calm, unlike the way he asked Gon and the other two.

"I ...want to become a hunter because a hunters license would grant access to restricted areas. There is one place I really need to go and for that I would need the license." Dawn said leaving her main reason out. She wasn't as honest as Gon, nor did she lie. A half truth is always better than lying, afterall. A tick mark appeared on Leorios head as he pointed his finger at Dawn in accusation. "Didn't you hear me?!!! You are not supposed to-" he was cut off by Dawn, who slapped his finger away from her face. She had always hated it when people pointed at her and Leorio's loud voice was beginning to grate at her brain. Gosh he sounds like a girl. "It was my decision to tell him. Your opinion does not matter to me." She hissed at him annoyed. Her voice came out deeper than normal, causing him to step back, uneasily.

"Now now if you two-" the captain pointed at Leorio and Kurapika "-don't answer my question then you will be thrown out of this ship at the next island. I am here to take the worthy contestants to the exam site. This is a test to see if you all are worthy of being a hunter." That took the two of them by surprise.

After a few minutes, Kurapika spoke. "I am the last survivor of the Kuruta clan. Four years ago, my whole clan was murdered by a band of criminals called Phantom Troupe. I want to become a hunter and hunt them down." So he wants revenge...that's quite a lonely path.

The captains eyes widened at the mention of the troupe. "Not even the greatest hunter could kill them, let alone get near them. You are foolish to even think of annihilating the whole troupe! You are digging your own grave, boy!" He said as his gaze hardened at Kurapika. The teen shook his head. "I don't fear death. The only fear in me is that my rage would fade over time." Brave yet foolish at the same time. It is not like revenge would bring back the dead or else batman would've become the next joker or that baldie Luthor. Dawn sighed to herself.

Then Leorio spoke out his reason, which turned out to be money. "Money can buy you anything!!!! Money can buy you property, expensive cars etc! It can even buy life!" Both Kurapika and Dawn frowned at that.

"Dont make a fool out of yourself, Leorio." Kurapika warned impressively mastering his anger. Leorio stopped his yapping and slowly turned to glare at him. "That's Leorio san to you." His tone had dropped to a grim one. Guess he's not the type to take insults.

Soon a argument broke out between them. Dawn looked back and forth between them, not liking the conflict. She was about to interfere when Gon stopped her.

A SHORT TIME SKIP:-

Great. A group of high school girls act better than this... Dawn thought sarcastically, her chin resting on her knees. The ship was rocking and jolting due to the storm which Gon had predicted. That old man has a potty mouth. Who goes around insulting others family? The blonde too needs to be more polite. Dawn was sitting in a corner of the ship, the same spot she had sat when she first came here. The crew members were desperately trying to hold the fore mast and the main mast, to keep them from flying off. Dawn had tried to help them, but they shooed her away because she was a girl and a tiny one at that. Leorio and Kurapika were already getting ready to fight and were not bothered by the storm.

Suddenly the fore mast broke sending one of the crew members, whom Dawn recognized as Katsuo, flying. The poor man frantically tried to grab onto a stray rope, but due to the rain his hands slipped. Before Dawn could properly register the situation, Gon dashed straight towards Katsuo and jumped right out of the ship. Her eyes widened and she saw the only person that asked to be her friend, fall to his death.

No...

Everything happened in slow motion.

Dawn's breathing became erratic and her eyes wavered in fear.

No...!!!!!

Dawn looked down at her legs that had frozen for some reason.

Move!!!!! She tried to lift her legs but they didn't budge.

Move!!!! Move you damn legs!!!!!

She punched her legs helplessly, to make them run. Luckily, both Leorio and Kurapika had managed to grab Gon's legs. With one hand, they held onto the little boy's legs, with all their strength and with the other they held the border of the ship. But the rain was making it harder for them to hold onto the ship. Their fingers slowly started slipping as they tried their best to pull Katsuo and Gon, who were getting swept by the wild waves.

MOVE!!!!!

Right when their hands slipped and they were cursing their fate, they heard a shrill animalistic cry, followed by thumping of footsteps. A pair of small hands caught hold of Leorio's and Kurapika's hand and with all their strength threw them all back into the ship. Dawn didn't know where she got that burst of strength. She was panting by the time all of them were back on the ship. Her eyes were wide in fear as she staggered near Gon. Her legs felt like jelly.

The poor boy was getting scolded by the older candidates, for his reckless action. "Gon..." Dawn's voice came out in a choked whisper. He stopped scratching his head and looked at her. "Are you ok??? Any injuries??" She asked as she knelt infront of him. He shook his head and grinned gaily. Seeing him fine, with no injuries, and smiling was a relief to her. "I am fine thanks to you guys! Thank you!" Kurapika and Leorio looked away blushing and scratching their chin sheepishly. Dawn,on the other hand, bonked his head, hard. "You scared me to death! You damn brat!!!"

(Snake:- You are a brat yourself...
Dawn:- shut up.)

Gritting her teeth she pinched his cheeks hard. "Owwie!!! Ow! OW!!!!" Gon yelped and flapped his hands to make her stop. "Fwam Fwooowie!!!!!" (I am sorry) "You better be!!!!!!" Dawn scolded. Her eyes were leaking a bit with tears, but her heart was finally calm.

Finally, after 3 minutes she let go of his cheeks. His cheeks were swollen and red and he was rubbing them.

(Snake:-Imagine a cute red cheeked Gon rubbing his cheeks. He is such a cutie!!!!!!○♡○ Too precious! - oi Dawn! Dont touch his cheeks! )

Katsuo came forward after he had dried up and thanked Leorio, Kurapika and Dawn for saving his life. He was especially grateful to Gon who jumped to save him without any hesitation, so he gave him a very ripe red apple.

(Sname:-Did you get what I did there?? Did you get my pun? Did you? You didn't? Ahhhhhh too bad.)

Gon thanked him and happily split the apple in half. He gave the half to Dawn, who thankfully accepted it.

"I am sorry Leorio san...I disrespected you." Kurapika said as he bowed his head a little bit. Leorio was taken aback by his sudden change in demeanor. "J-Just Leorio is fine!!!! Sorry for insulting your clan, Kurapika. " he stuttered. "So we are all good now???" Dawn asked as she broke her half of the apple and gave it to Leorio. Gon did the same and gave it to Kurapika. Both of them exchanged glances with each other and took the tiny piece of apple. "Now we all are friends!!!" Gon chirped gleefully. Dawn smirked deviously. "Ehhhhh..but Leorio-san is a pervert Gon! I saw him reading pervy magazines earlier!!!"

"What?!!! That's a lie!!! A total lie!!!" Leorio yelped, his face red. Kurapika almost choked on his apple as he scooted a few centimeters away from Leorio. "Why are you scooting away from me?!!! She is lying!! >□<" Dawn stuck out her tongue at Leorio, giggling. Gon tilted his head as he watched his newly made friends. He was completely clueless and couldn't get the joke.

The captain watched them from far, smiling contentedly. "This year..we have some interesting and promising candidates. " The wind blew as our favourite group bickered and laughed.
