The girl looked very remorseful and sad. Her eyes were stuck at Dawn's scarred hand, while Dawn was trembling. There was no way she had a sister and never knew about it. There should have been pictures! Dawn didn't remember seeing the black haired girl in any of the pictures, not even in the one she tore.

"Impossible..." Dawn stuttered. Yes it had to be a dream. She pinched herself hard hoping to wake up from this ridiculous dream. But nothing happened. The strange girl was still infront of her. "Dawn..Calm down. Let me explain." The girl said as she pulled out a locket from her pocket. She was dressed in an ancient robe that looked a bit like a shrine maiden's clothes. Except it was faint peach in colour.

She handed the locket to Dawn, who stared at it confused. "What is this?" She asked as she turned it around in her hand. The girl motioned for her to open it. Dawn fiddled with the small lock for a bit before she managed to open it. Inside it was the picture of Dawn's mother , her and also the strange girl. Beside her mother was her father with his gentle smile. Her mother and father looked around 20 and the two girls were babies. Their faces were so identical, it was almost as if she was staring into a  mirror.

"B-But...how..." Dawn could not believe her eyes. Her mother looked very proud while holding her precious gems. Her father too had the same smile. The kind gentle smile which he lost to his hatred. Dawn's eyes stung. She had not forgotten what her father said.

"This will be the last time we are speaking to each other."

He had abandoned her. He had abandoned her to go live with that crazy hag. Dawn bit her lips hard to stop her tears. She would not cry over someone like him. Not anymore. Someone like him would never deserve her tears. Dawn's eyes trailed towards her mother. She was like a pretty rose in a field of weeds. She was one of a kind. This time Dawn could not stop her tears. She had almost forgotten how her mother looked. Her heart clenched in pain as she memorised her face. She was so pretty, with those beautiful ruby red eyes and soft and silky dark blue hair.

Dawn missed her mother. Her father had told her that she had died in a car crash when Dawn was only 3 years old.
"If...if...you are my sister...then where were you..why did you never come for me.." Dawn's voice broke as she looked up at the girl- no her sister. Her sister's expression dropped to a sad one. "I could not. The barrier between your world and mine, was too hard to break. My past self was not strong enough to create a crack through it. "

Barrier? What barrier? !! Noticing Dawn's confusion she spoke. "The barrier was made to ensure your safety in this human world. You must have dreamt of fire.. right? " Dawn pondered and slowly nodded. She dreamt of fire almost every single damn day and they were terrible. "They are the barrier. The fire won't hurt you, because you are loved by them. But they will stop you from going any further and would guide you back safely to your world. " her sister explained. Dawn gasped.

"Y-you...know...?" She stuttered. Her twin nodded smiling. "Of course I know. Everyone from where I am from knows, except the villagers. " she said. Dawn gulped. She had been outcasted because of her powers before. She was not sure if the others saw her as a freak or a friend. Dawn's sister sensed her fear and smiled. "Dont worry. Back at home you will find your own kind. We all can use special powers~" she said winking. Dawn blinked and slowly registered what she said. A place where..I can belong...to..

"Wait- you said I...am loved by..the Fire Element....what does that mean???" Dawn asked. "Fire has always been the easiest for you to handle right?" Midori asked to which Dawn nodded. "You see..the Fire Element will not accept it's users that easily. There are very rare fire users back in my dimension. Only 3 or 4. And it is one of the lost or forbidden element. But what I see when I look at you is that the fire is gentle with you. It loves you and is willing to accept you as it's master. " the girl explained. Now it made all sense to Dawn. Why the Fire Element was easiest to control..so that was the reason.

"Then..what about Aqua??? I suck at controlling it and it always backfires at me." Dawn said pouting hard. Her sister chuckled at her and said "Fire and Aqua are polar opposites. Since you are loved by the Fire Element , Aqua doesn't like you. You are just like a flame. Hot blooded and easy to be angered. Aqua is more of a calm and gentle one." Dawn's pout just increased. "What about you? What can you use?" Dawn asked. Her sister smirked teasingly causing Dawn's left eye to twitch. "You see I can use Aqua since i am loved by the water element. But I can't use the Fire Element. Weeeeell, use is an understatement. I can't touch Fire." She said scratching the back of her head blushing a bit.

Dawn shoot her a look of awe. Oh she better teach her to control water. Then something hit Dawn's mind. "If you can't touch fire...how did..you break past the barrier..?" Dawn asked a bit suspiciously. Her twin lifted off her sleeves to show a badly burnt hand. "I punched. I punched very hard and I broke it." She explained. Dawn had muted off what she said. Her eyes were sharply focused on the her hand. Her left eye was twitching hard and there was a tick mark. "You.....ARE YOU AN IDIOT?!!!!!" Dawn roared angrily. Her sister yelped surprised at her outburst. "D-Dawn-?"

"Just what were you thinking?!!!" Dawn yelled again, cutting her off. Her face was red from anger and she shook her twin hard. The poor girl could only yelp and beg for Dawn to stop shaking her. Her eyes were going swirly and her head was spinning from all that sudden movement.

Dawn was always the worry wart. If anyone she deemed precious is injured then she would wreck Havoc and get very upset. This situation was no exception. The black haired girl's hand was so badly burnt and looked so painful that Dawn almost felt like crying. After minutes of angry scolding, Dawn was left steaming. Her twin was trembling comically, kneeling infront of the raging half dragon.

"Y-you..h-have..moms..te-temper.." she mumbled. One glare from Dawn shut her off. Dawn sighed exasperated and knelt infront of her twin, taking her injured hand in hers. She focused on her earth element and brown light covered her hands, slowly healing her sister's hand. When she looked up after healing her sister's hand, she found her smiling at her fondly.

"You have learnt to heal..that's nice. And I see you can use more than 2 elements." when she spoke the last part there was a flicker of sadness in her eyes, which disappeared, as quickly as it came. But Dawn had seen it, being the sharp person, but decided not to question it. Her twin then looked up with a deadly serious expression on her face."Dad must have told you that mom died in a car accident right?"

Dawn nodded. "He lied." Those two words almost knocked Dawn off balance. Lied?! Her eyes went wide in disbelief and she took a few steps away from her twin. "W-what...are..you-" she could not finish her sentence. "Think about it Dawn. Didn't his attitude towards you change after he learnt that you are a power user? A non human? "
Dawn thought about it. Now that her twin mentioned it she realised that she was correct.

"Our soothsayer used to say..love between a human and a non human is forbidden..and it should never ever happen because in the end both of them are gonna get hurt by one another due to their differences or worse get betrayed. But mom did not heed their warning and fell in love with dad. She left everything behind and came for him. But mom had kept it a secret, that she was a not a human, from dad. She was afraid he would judge her, for she blindly loved him, But she did thought of telling him later. When we were born, things were just fine. We were one happy family, but then everything came crashing down. When I turned 2..my powers started resurfacing and got activated on it's own. I was too small to be able to control it. Mom did her best to hide it but..in the end ....dad..found out. Mom had hoped he would understand and accept her but.." Dawn's sister could not continue anymore. Her lips quivered as she barely managed to speak.

"He didn't..." Dawn finished it. Her sister could only nod shakily. "No matter how much mom begged for his forgiveness, no matter how much she cried , his love for her had already gotten replaced with..hate. He felt betrayed for being lied to and Mom got her hopes broken. Slowly, a rift appeared between them. Dad started coming home late. After 4 months, mom found out he was seeing some other women. Mom's heart was crushed and our family shattered away. After months of silent treatment and quarrels, dad finally kicked her and I out. Mom begged him to at least keep me in the house, but he refused." her twin said softly.

"Wait..how come I don't remember any of the day I spent with you and mom? Why didn't dad kick me out too?" Dawn asked. Her mind was racing and was packed with dozens of questions. "You see, your powers had not activated during that time. So dad thought you were a human and he didn't hate you. But mom knew your powers would awaken soon and she didn't want you to go through what she and I did. So she sealed off your powers and erased your memories of anything non human related and of us, before she left. But, it seems like your power was too tremendous to seal. Some of it leaked out and I can guess dad found out." Her sister said shaking her head.

Now all the pieces connected. Why her father's attitude changed, why she never remembered her mom or sister, why everyone hated her, why she was so different. "Where is..she? I want to see my mother!" Dawn said as she looked around.

"I am afraid, that right now is not possible." her sister's grim voice made her eyes wide. "Why not?!" Dawn exclaimed. Her twin shut her eyes as every bit of emotion drained from her face. "Because she has been taken captive by the demon lord, Azegro Ulvan. He had been aiming to conquer our kingdom ever since mom left it. " Dawn's heart almost stopped beating. Reading her fear her sister smiled a bit. "She is still alive...but not for long. He has hidden her in a secret dungeon all the way in another dimension."

"Other ...dimension?" Dawn had heard about other dimension and have read about them in a few books she had managed to buy, but had never expected it to be real. "Which dimension is it?" She asked gazing into the red eyes of her sister. "It is the dimension of hunters. Not the power user hunters or Resalders..but other sort of hunters. In order to get into that location where mom is, we would need a hunters license. And the only way to get the hunters license is by participating in the hunters exam." Her twin said as she paced around.

"Then what are we waiting for? We must go there and get the license!" Dawn said her gaze following her sister. "It is not very easy, Dawn! My power core is not as strong as yours. I have already used half of it to get here. Now with my remaining half I can send only one person.... " The black haired girl hissed in frustration. "Oi ! You dont have to worry about that! You can send me!!!" Dawn said gripping her shoulders. " All I would need to do is pass the exam and get the damn license! "

"Are you insane?!!! The hunters exam is dangerous! I can't send you there alone! What if- what if something happened to you?! I wont ever forgive myself if anything ever happened to you!!!" Her sister shook her head as she rejected Dawn's idea. "Oh come on! Have some faith in me! Nothing bad will happen to me! Besides...I wanna help my sister whom I have not seen in ages...that's the least I can do. " Dawn said scratching the back of her head, mumbling the last part. The black haired girl stared at her little twin before her lips curled in a gentle smile. "Fine..but you have to promise me to be careful. Be careful especially around humans and the hunters. And report me about anything unusual. Promise me, Dawn." Her twin said holding out her pinky for Dawn. Dawn gazed at it before gingerly taking her pinky in her own pinky and shook it. "Pinky Promise!" Dawn grinned as she let go.

"Alright. I will now send you to the hunters dimension with all the supplies you will need and a book containing information on hunters. And Dawn make sure to keep a low profile. I don't want creeps or bounty hunters after you. And stay away from perverts!>< You are too adorable to be missed from their view. " Dawn chuckled at the last part. So this was how it felt to be cared for. Dawn's heart felt warm. The earlier icy wound left by her father slowly melted away and got replaced by the warmth of her sisters love. Unknown to her, her cheeks were wet with tears. They were not the tears of sadness and sorrow, but the tears of happiness and love. Her twin grinned at her cheekily and chanted a spell. The floor beneath Dawn began shinning and a magical circle appeared glowing brightly.

Suddenly, Dawn remembered something. "Hey! You never told me your name!!!!" The magical circle started pulling at Dawn's body drawing her inside. The last words that Dawn heard was "My name is ...Midori." before everything went dark.
