-Chapter two-
Black Forest, 17 March 1999:
"My name is Nora, sir, not Emma" Nora just said.
"But it clearly says Emma" replied the teacher.
"But my name is not Emma, sir." Nora replied, now a little annoyed with her teacher. Why couldn't he understand? It wasn't that difficult.
"So why does it say Emma?" The teacher asked.
"Never mind, my name is Nora, not Emma, what's so difficult to understand?" Nora said, now extremely annoyed.
"I won't tolerate any bitching." The teacher raised his voice.
"Then get my name right, Emma, so I'm not crazy." Nora replied before joining the others in the large breakfast hall. Her friends, Calypso and Evelyn had heard everything.
"Nora, you can't do that, that was our tutor, Mr Kitchingman!" Evelyn whispered to her, biting her fingernails nervously.
"Man, Eve, calm down, let him get my name right." Nora waved her hand. "Great homeroom teacher, can't even remember his students' names." She then grumbled.
"A-but that's not right, he's an authority figure!" Evelyn stammered.
"Calm down, Evelyn, it was only a matter of time before someone looked at him. The guy's good for nothing. Authority figure, don't make me laugh," snorted Calypso.
"Hello girls, how are you?" The shrill voice of Queen-B Dakotia sounded behind them.
"What do you want?" Calypso looked at her suspiciously. It had been clear for some time that Dakotia had a crush on Mr Jackobs, but he was Calypso's father of all people and totally in love with the crazy French woman Mrs Meeré, who nobody knew exactly why she was employed here and not in Miami with the field agents.
"I just wanted to ask, Calypso, would you like to do some homework with me later? I don't understand something in history," Dakotia blinked innocently.
"Ask Madame Meeré, she's a history teacher," Calypso replied and turned back to her friends. Dakotia stomped her foot like a toddler, her face twisted into a sour grimace and she stormed off to her own friends.
Calypso shook her head. "That's the tenth time she's tried something like that. Does she think I'm stupid? I know she's only playing nice with me so she can get to my father," she hissed and stabbed her pancake with her fork.
"She's probably far too stupid herself to remember anything, just ignore her, she'll be fine." Nora shrugged her shoulders.
"Guys, you can't say that, it's not proper!" Evelyn anxiously wrapped a strand of her thick, long, blonde hair around her right index finger. Evelyn was beautiful. Blonde hair, bright blue eyes, skin like a porcelain pudding and she was always the best at everything. Well, at least most of the time. The only downside was that Evelyn was good. Sometimes too good. She wasn't a tattletale, not that, but she was as nervous and anxious as a little bunny. She was always worried, you couldn't even use the word "boy" with her, because even then she would go crazy.
"Evelyn." Calypso replied in a warning tone.
Miami, Fieldagents, 17/03/1999:
"This is Esther, she'll be your new classmate." The sports teacher Jasper Clare introduced her.
"Please be so kind as to introduce her tonight." He then asked and put a hand on Esther's shoulder.
-A few hours later, 00:00:
"Hey, I'm Maria, I'm supposed to take you to the meeting point." A girl with brightly coloured hair beamed at Esther, grabbed her hand and shook it vigorously.
"I hope you're not afraid of the dark, because that would be very inconvenient." She giggled and put a blindfold on Esther.
-At the meeting point-
"So, you can take off the blindfold now and don't get panicky!" Maria shouted from below. Esther took off her blindfold and was immediately seized by punished agendt. She was standing on a 10 metre board in a swimming pool. Next to Maria and around the pool stood about the entire rest of the school, pupils, teachers, the headmaster and his wife, everyone.
"You have to jump now!" Maria shouted. "Don't worry, nothing will happen, we've been doing this for years and no one has died yet!" Added a girl next to her with bright blue hair.
Esther gave a forced smile as cold sweat ran down the back of her neck. She couldn't swim and she certainly didn't want to jump. But she had to, she didn't want to look like a scaredy-cat in front of everyone.
"Just imagine the water is lemon ice and you're a wasp and you want to jump into the lemon ice and when someone tries to lick it, you jump out and shout "Hello!" and sting them in the tongue!" Shouted a beanpole of a boy with carrot-coloured hair from the crowd.
Esther sighed, but then took a running start and jumped. The whole swimming pool cheered enthusiastically and some people hugged each other.
The water was freezing cold when she dived in and her skin was burning like hell. She thrashed around wildly, as I said, she couldn't swim. Her breathing got worse and worse, panic paralysed her and when she thought she was going to drown, she was grabbed by two strong arms and pulled to the surface.
"Damn it Esther, you have to say you can't swim!" Maria wailed as the boy who had pulled her to the surface brought her back to solid ground
"You didn't have to jump, that was pretty stupid of you, you could have drowned." A boy with straw-blonde hair remarked. Esther didn't say anything more.
