Prologue
Calliope Doge was not feeling all that well. She had a high temperature and felt exhausted. Elphias had tried to help her as best as he could, but ever since she had returned home from Hogwarts her condition had been growing worse and worse every day, with her symptoms only getting more severe and confining her to bed.
Elphias had been doing everything that he could to help her feel better, from brewing remedies to getting her more pillows, but she only seemed to be getting worse.
The funny (well, not exactly funny, more ironic) thing was that Fred Weasley was also feeling ill, with almost the exact same symptoms that Calliope was displaying.
Both Elphias and the Weasleys had been in touch with Albus Dumbledore, wanting to know if he could help the teenagers in any way. Dumbledore was utterly stumped, and he didn't like not knowing what was going on. The situation that had presented itself to him was unknown territory, he had never seen anything like Calliope Doge or the bond that she and Fred seemed to have formed which had no explanation other than Calliope's banshee heritage.
Not much was known about banshees as a species, they were very secretive and didn't much like wizards. It was still a mystery to Albus how Isaac Doge had formed enough of a connection with a banshee to warrant having a child, nevertheless, it had happened.
The only explanation that Dumbledore could find for both Calliope and Fred falling ill at the exact same time was their separation. Since their bond had formed they had hardly spent a moment apart, even when they returned to Hogwarts for the few weeks at the end of the year the two were often seen together, leaning on the other for support as they attempted to recover from their months in Lord Voldemort's captivity.
So Dumbledore voiced this concern to Elphias, Molly and Arthur, who all agreed that it couldn't hurt try bringing the pair together. The Weasleys had been planning to relocate to the headquarters of the Order of the Pheonix for their safety, so Dumbledore suggested that Calliope join them. The offer was also extended to Elphias, who turned it down in favour of staying at home to continue on his work, he was working restlessly on a new book, the subject of which he wouldn't tell anyone.
So the next day, both the Weasley family and Calliope Doge readied themselves for life at Grimmauld Place.
