"He's still out there, I know it."
Hera sighed as she turned towards Nico, who stood at the doorway.
"Listen, I know you miss him, we all do but-"
"But you won't go out to search for him? Why? Last time I checked, we don't leave anyone behind." Nico interrupted.
"The imperials-" Hera started, but was once again interrupted by Nico.
"I know what you're gonna say, that they wouldn't lie about something like this and Kanan hasn't been back so it must be true. But the Empire lies about everything remember? They lied about the Wookies, they lied about countless supply runs," Nico started to count on his fingers, "Why is this time any different? I bet that's just another trap to make us lose hope, and I know you don't like falling into them."
Hera thought for a moment, "Fine. We'll search for Kanan but only for a week. And if you can find any evidence that he's still alive, then I'll extend it longer. Deal?"
Nico grinned, "Deal."
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
A week has passed and the Ghost crew came up empty handed. Nico begged them to keep looking but in the end he was fighting a losing battle, they had already given up.
Or at least, some of them had. Nico caught Sabine with Chopper going over encrypted imperial files.
"What are you doing?" Nico asked curiously.
Sabine jumped and Chopper quickly turned off his hologram, "Wha- nothing."
"You're searching for Kanan..." Sabine's eyes widened and Chopper beeped.
"No I'm- don't tell-"
"Don't worry, I'm not telling anyone. In fact, I was searching for him too."
Sabine seemed to calm down, "It just doesn't make sense. If they did manage to catch him and...kill him...them they should've annoyed it or something, after all its not everyday you catch a rebel and rarer a jedi. But when I looked over the holonet, there was nothing, no mention or anything. So I got thinking, what if it was lie?"
"Yeah...I came to that conclusion differently." Nico added.
"Right, and I was a miracle Hera went out to search for Kanan for a week, but now no matter what I say, she just won't continue unless we have proof," Sabine slumped her shoulders, "And apparently she doesn't consider no announcements, proof."
There was silence for a pause before Nico whispered, "Don't worry, I have a plan. That is, if you're willing to go along."
Sabine narrowed her eyes, "What are you planning?"
Nico smiled, "You'll see."

Kanan's eyes widened, the crimson red lightsaber trailing down Ally's back, and and ear-piercing scream echoed through the room.
"STOP!" Kanan cried out.
Surprisingly, he did.
Ally ran over to Ruby, who wrapped her arms around the sobbing child despite the protocols.
"This jedi, could be prevented with one, single, word."
Kanan took a deep breath, "Fine, Master."
"The entire greeting jedi." The Inquisititor looked smug.
Kanan glared, "I said it didn't I?"
The Inquisititor shook his head, "Such a shame. It appears 11254 will no longer stay to recover, he will be here and be expected to do everything like the usual."
Kanan growled, "Stop taking it all out on them. Take it out on me."
"I'm afraid that won't be necessary." And with that, the Inquisititor strolled out of the room.

"Hera? We need to talk."
For what seemed like the hundredth time today, Hera turned to greet the person at the doorway to the cockpit, or in this case, persons. Nico, Sabine, and Chopper all strode foward and sat down in a chair (or in Chopper's case, just stood in the middle of the room).
"We need to keep looking for Kanan. I know we might not have the evidence right now, but doesn't it seem suspicious that-"
"Didn't you and I have this conversation a week ago Nico? We made a deal and you can't change it." Hera said exasperated.
"I know but just hear us out. Sabine and I have been thinking-"
"Nico a deal is deal."
"I know but-"
"Sabine," Hera warned.
"We can search for him alone."
Silence filled the room for a heartbeat before Hera shook her head, "I will not let you risk your lives for a lost cause, a single solider."
"A single solider? Hera he's our friend." Nico said incredulously
"Yeah we can't just forget him," Sabine added, "And I wouldn't believe you would either."
Chopper beeped in agreement.
"And a lost cause. This, everything we're doing is a lost cause for someone, but you were the one that told us the contrary." Nico furrowed his eyebrows.
"I'm not asking you to forget him," Hera looked on the verge of tears, "I'm asking you to honor the choice, the sacrifice that he made. There's a bigger cause, a greater good that we need to continue to fight for. Kanan would want us to remember him and keep on fighting."
Nico and Sabine looked away. Apparently to the latter, they have been beat, but the former wasn't gonna give in that easily.
"If you won't search for him," He stared at Hera, "Then we'll go find him alone." Silence enveloped the room, too much for the twi'lek to take, so she left the cockpit without a word.
Dun?!Dun?!Dunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!?
"YOU STUPID, COCKY, SON OF A BANTHA!!!" (Admit it, that deserved at least three exclamation points.)
Killiana stormed through the room and cornered the newest recruit. Anger coursed through every inch of her body as she stared at the male jedi with nothing but hate.
"HOW MORE IDIOTIC CAN YOU GET?!?! NOW BECAUSE OF YOU, SPECTRE E COMES BACK WITHOUT A FULL RECOVERY, ALLY GETS HURT AND-" She took a deep breath. Dirt, rocks, and whatever else that was lying around rose an inch...two inches...
"EVERYTHING WAS FINE UNTIL YOU CAME!!! WE WEREN'T HURT, WE WEREN'T AS BROKEN AS WE ARE NOW!!! WE EVEN HAD AN ESCAPE PLAN!!! BUT YOU HAD TO COME AROUND AND RUIN IT ALL!!!" Killiana trembled with rage, her eyes started to change. Her normally brown eyes now had a ring of yellow around her pupil.
Kanan's panic doubled. "Listen okay? Listen just calm down-"
"YOU CALM DOWN!!" Killiana raised her fist and Kanan felt himself being lifted off the ground. He clawed desperately at the invisible force around his neck, his lungs screaming for air.
"GHOST K STOP!!!" Zare attempted to get through her, but his plead got to empty ears.
"NO ONE, YOU HEAR ME, NO ONE MESSES WITH MY FAMILY!!!"
Kanan eyes widened as black spots started to fill his vision. He tried to mumble an apology, but it only came out as a grunt.
"GHOST K!!!"
"SNAP OUT OF IT!!!"
"LET HIM GO!!"
"KILLIANA!!!!"
Killiana turned at the sound of her name. Ally hid behind Ruby, whispering, "Stop. You're turning like Baldy."
Ghost K turned towards Kanan, giving one final glare before letting go.
The jedi gasped for air, blinking hard and rubbing his sore neck. He stared at Killiana in shock and regret.
"I see we have made progress here."
Everyone turned towards the Inquisititor, who smiled broadly at the girl in front of her.
"Number 11904, you seem to finally be making progress. Good work, but next time, keep holding him a little longer, understood?"
"Yes sir, will do Master," Killiana said coldly, staring at Baldy without emotion.
"Good. Now come with me, so we take you to the next step."
The yellow eyed girl stepped outside, and the Inquisititor stared at everyone for a second before saying, "Number 11254 will be here shortly. Inform him of the recent events, and tell him I expect him to act just like it was any other day. Understood?"
"Yes sir, will do Master."
"Jedi?" The Inquisititor didn't even have to elaborate, Kanan knew what he wanted.
Standing straight and tall and staring at the wide eyed boy behind the pau'an, Kanan replied loud and clear.
"Understood sir, will do Master."

Ezra's eyes widened as he caught sight of Killiana, and he found himself having to lean more of his weight on the stormtroopers surrounding him.
Her eyes were a piercing, cold yellow that only showed anger. Her knuckles were white and her hands tight into fists, and Ezra saw he didn't recognize her, especially when Killiana saw him staring and snapped, "What're you looking at?"
No, Killiana would never say that, at least, not to him.
And then his suprise multiplied as he stared at the jedi as he obediently said the appropriate response to...whatever the Inquisititor said.
If it wasn't for his throbbing throat, he might've actually gasped and called him out on it when he was thrown into the room. Instead he just let out a moan.
Everyone, even the jedi, rushed foward to help him sit down. And it wasn't until he was as comfortable as he could get that he had a good look at everyone.
Ghost Z was grim, grimacing as he stared at him, Spectre J was fidgeting from foot to foot, biting his lip and glancing around the room. Phantom R's eyes held fear and worry and Phantom A was crying. But probably the most astonishing of all was Cowboy, who looked at him with a stern, but gentle expression.
"You should lay down," Cowboy muttered, "You don't look all that good."
"What happened?" He croaked at Ghost Z, ignoring the offer, "What... happened to... Ghost K...and-"
"Lay down," Zare interrupted, "As much as I hate to admit it, he's right. You look like you could pass out any minute and sound like it too. We have orders to tell you everything anyway."
Ezra complied and took a deep breath, before whispering once more, "What happened?"
"You see, Killiana got mad-"
"Because Cowboy wouldn't call Baldy Master and-" Ruby was cut off.
"And he got mad and took out his glowstick-"
"And it hurt a lot!"
"He hurt Phantom A with it-" Spectre J started.
"But then he stopped and asked him to do it again-"
"But he wouldn't-" Ghost Z glared at Kanan.
"And he got mad so he said-"
"You had to come out of healing and stuff-" Ruby added.
"And Killiana got mad and stuff and she turned-" Spectre J bit his lip.
"She turned evil and scary!"
"Yeah and started to choke Cowboy-" Ghost Z put in.
"And we told her to stop-"
"But she wouldn't," Ruby shook her head, "Not until Phantom A-"
"Called her by her actual name-"
"And then she let Cowboy go-" Ally pointed out.
"And Baldy came-"
"And you came."
Ezra blinked for a second, before saying slowly," So...Cowboy wouldn't...obey, and Ghost...K got...mad...and turned evil?"
"Yeah and attacked Cowboy too." Jai clarified.
Ezra nodded, "Think...its permanent?"
Everyone except Kanan shrugged.
"Cowboy?"
Five pairs of wide eyes stared at the jedi as he sighed, "Listen, I came here in the first place to get you all put of here because you're something called force-sensitive childre-"
"What's... that?" Ezra interrupted, and Kanan couldn't help but remember the day he had to explain it to Nico an Tahara, the former asking the same thing.
"A force-sensitive is someone who can manipulate the Force."
"What's the Force?" Phantom A asked.
"The force is what binds us and penetrates us. It gold the universe together and it's strong in all of you," Kanan explained patiently, "The Empire wants to train all of you because of that. They want to turn you to the Dark Side, make you use your abilities for bad things. And it looks like they succeeded with one of you already."
Silence filled the room, dread filling every single one of their souls.
