Epilogue: Hide and Seek

Welp guys, in the end I decided to write an epilogue not only because a few of you wanted it, but because now that I look back, there's a lot of loose ends I needed to tie together. So that's why this is here!!!!!! YAY!!!! XD ALSO if you have any questions regarding the story, OCs, or anything of the sort feel free to tell me!!! I'll answer as soon as possible!!!!!!!!!

P.S. Salminion does not own Star Wars Rebels, OCs, references, or *even the plot of this story. She only owns what she has constructed from where she has started, and her own work.

P.P.S Sorry this was so late, but I've started homeschooling and at first I had to rearrange my entire schedule and couldn't find time to fit this in until now. I've had to do at leads two quizzes per day and am still a bit behind but it's calmer now. But then my baby brother got sick. I won't go into any details, but we had to take him to the hospital WHERE A STUPID NURSE MADE FUN OF MY DAD BECAUSE HE WAS TRYING TO EXPLAIN WHY WE CAME AND WHAT HE WANTED THEM TO DO AND THEY WOULDN'T LET HIM IN UNTIL THEY SENT HIM TO TALK TO ANOTHER NURSE AND THE FIRST NURSE LAUGHED AND SAID, "DID YOU SEE THAT?!" SHE WASN'T EVEN DOING HER JOB RIGHT!!!! AND WOULDN'T LET ME OR MY SIBLINGS IN BECAUSE WE'RE 'MINORS' EVEN THOUGH THEY LET US IN LAST TIME!!!! 😡

The atmosphere was cold and silent.

The tension was practically rolling off of the ten figures that stood in the grassy plains of Lothal, a gentle breeze making the dry grass sway ever so slightly.

Ten figures stood stiff an still, tears swelling in their eyes or rolling down their cheeks like rivers.

Five figures broke the trance and walked forth.

Four small boxes were places on the ground, their contents full of knick knacks, names written on their lid.

Four figures came forward, each standing in front of the boxes, each placing one in darkness and unforgivable solitude of the holes that we're previously dug. Brothers buried sisters. Partner buried leader. Family buried the traitor, the killer.

The sister. The girl that was their protector and one of their own.

Two figures came forth. Ears drooped down, ponytail a mess.  Each carried one side of a larger box, a broken heart and still soul inside, placing it in the forbidding gap.

Two figures came forth, colorful armor now dull, nothing where a hand should be. Each knelt, a lump in their throat, saying nothing at all.

Everything was still.

One last figure came forth, one that held a shovel, the deceased strangers to her.

Dirt cranked unto the boxes, one by one filling up, never to be seen again.

Never again would they hear her soothing words, see bright brown eyes open, full of joy and innocence and hope even in the darkest of days.

Never again would they hear her words, vocabulary larger than ut should've been. Never again would they contemplate on why the youth was yelling orders at such a high position.

Never again would they feel her, teasing them, giving advice. Never again would they notice just how similar she was to her brother, pink highlights standing out against her brown hair.

Never again would they wonder, who exactly he, no, she was. Never again would they question her orders, question her in general. Never would they get the chance to meet her completely.

Never again would they see her, give her a chance to redeem herself. Never would they learn why that all happened. Never again would they see her, never again would she protect them, keep them together.

Never.

Separated.

Alone.

Cold.

Sobs broke through, louder than cannon fire.

"Why?! WHY?!"

"She can't be dead!! SHE CAN'T!!!"

"BRING THEM BACK!! WE HAVE TO BRING THEM BACK!"

"This isn't real... this just CAN'T be real!!"

"IT ISN'T FAIR!!"

The children there wailed, their eyes puffy, their face a mess.

Ten lives scarred forever.

"C'mon kid, you have to eat. Need some sunlight too," Zeb sighed, standing at the doorway of the small closet. Attempting humor, he added, "A bath wouldn't be a bad idea either."

The dark-haired teen remained curled up in a ball, staring absently at the wall.

"They're gone," he whispered, voice shaking, "It's my fault. If I hadn't gotten sick or hurt... if I hadn't tried to escape..."

He trailed off, tears reappearing in his eyes.

Zeb however, growled, "Listen, I don't care what happened but to me it seems that one of those girls deserved it-"

"DON'T SAY THAT!" Ezra screamed, "She only turned because she was worried about me!! She was trying to protect us! NONE OF THIS WOULD'VE HAPPENED IF I HADN'T EXISTED IN GENERAL!! Not to my parents, and not to my new family either!!"

And with that, the boy shot out of the room, later to be found in the vents.

"Go away."

Dhara sighed, "Zare, I know this is hard for you, but you need to get a hold of yourself. Hiding away won't hide anything. Killiana and Ally wouldn't have wanted this."

"Yeah? Well crying won't fix anything either. Just forget it. You're not getting me out of here."

"I didn't mean it like that," the girl frowned, "Listen, everyone except Kanan, Hera, Zeb, and I has been unseen for days. We want to help you, but you have to let us in first."

Silence.

Then, "What am I supposed to do now? They're gone. There's nothing left to do."

"That's where you're wrong," The girl sat next to her brother, wrapping an arm around his shaking shoulders, "You can't keep banging on a door that's too destroyed to open again. It's gone. You have to accept it and move on. It won't be easy, but if you pace yourself, go step by step, another door will appear. One that's different, but that doesn't mean that it's bad. It all comes down to whether or not you accept the challenge, or not. Take the first step, come outside. I know you're strong enough to do it."

For a moment, none of them moved, until Zare finally whispered, "You'll help me right?"

Dhara smiled, "Every step of the way."

Nodding, the boy rubbed his eyes before taking his sister's arm and walking out the door.

"You've been in here for a while."

Sabine hummed, spray paint never stopping its hiss. The girl narrowed her eyes, never breaking focus in her painting, before scowling, "What do you want?"

Kanan shrugged casually, "Just wanted to make sure you didn't suffocate on paint fumes."

He tried to move foward towards the Mando, but bumped into many objects on the way, causing the latter to turn and cross her arms, eyebrow raised, "You know, you can ask for help. Just because you forbid us from helping you, doesn't mean you're not gonna need it."

Kanan sighed, stopping in his tracks, "I know, but with everything that's been going on, I thought it'd be best if I gave you all some alone time."

"Then why exactly are you here?"

"Your time is up."

Rolling her eyes, Sabine carefully led the jedi towards the bolted down table, "I'm just painting. I do that all the time."

"Not as much as now you don't," the man pointed out, smirking.

"You can drop the act, Kanan. Stop acting like everything's normal because it's not," voice fierce, Sabine continued, "Tahara's gone. So are Indigo and Ahsoka. You might not have met her, but Indigo was a great friend. They both were."

"I know."

Grunting, Sabine yelled, "No, you don't!"

There was a moment of silence, in which the blind jedi rubbed his forehead, unable to pinch the bridge of his nose like he used to.

"I know I don't Sabine. I don't understand what you're going through, and even now when I'm trying my hardest to, I know I won't be able to fathom the pain. But just remember," Kanan stood, carefully walking to the doorway before he paused, "Tahara was my sister, the only blood family I knew. Now, all we have is each other."

With that, Kanan stepped out the door, leaving mandalorian all alone.

"What are you doing here?"

Zeb shrugged from where he stood at the entrance of his cabin, staring casually at the two figures sitting on his bunk.

"Kid ran off somewhere. Figured I'd visit you two."

"We don't need you to visit us," Jai crossed his arms.

"We're fine," Ruby added, "Besides, nothing you do will fix anything."

The lasat moved foward, throwing himself on his before closing his eyes, "Who said I was going to fix anything? This is my cabin you know."

"You said you came to visit us."

"Yeah, don't try to cover that up."

"Like I said, this is my cabin," Zeb stood up, "So if you don't leave now, I'll kick ya out. Literally."

"Yeah right."

"I'd like to see you try."

The former Honour Guard responded by throwing them out and locking the door.

However, not before the two noticed the tears in the corner of his eyes.

And decided it were best to find a new hiding spot.

"Hera?

The twi'lek pilot turned in her seat, smiling gently when she saw Nico standing there, arms crossed.

"Yeah?" She asked softly, careful not to chase him away. It was rare to see any of the kids out, most of them taking shelter in empty rooms, closets, or any other nook and cranny they could find.

So it was best to take the situation with upmost care.

Nico responded, "Zeb's not opening the door. Neither is Sabine. Or Kanan," looking up, the boy nervously but his lip, "Could I, uh, you know, stay here?"

Without hesitation, Hera responded, "Of course," before shutting the door.

Various times the pilot would try to start a conversation and multiple times it would be end up in silence, until in the end, the boy fell asleep, and Hera carried him to her bunk, tucking him in and kissing his forehead.

Later on, the Ghost crew and it's new passengers would leave Lothal, traveling to various places to do missions, supply runs, and inform the rebellion of the loss of many of their own.

There would be a time when Ezra, Zare, Jai, Ruby, Sabine, and Nico all stopped hiding and came out, accepting what happened and moving on, honoring them.

One day, everyone would stop crying daily, instead moving foward, laughing, teasing, and overall becoming a family.

None of them would heal completely from the pain, the scar would keep throbbing. However, they soon learned how to live with it, each and every one of them helping each other out to heal as best as they could.

But those days are yet to come, there's still a long way to go.

So for now, all they can do is mourn, until the future turns bright for them, once more.

Heh. So... I've got a lot of things to say, however, I'm also gonna do a bit of "behind the scenes" junk so *shrugs* you can leave and ignore the author note of continue reading. Either way is fine.

First of all, I'm sorry this is late, but if you really wanna know why I mentioned it above so go look there. Again, I'm sorry.

Second of all, BEHIND THE SCENES JUNK OR WHAT WAS MY INSPIRATION.

But before that, starloverrebel I know you like it when I put pictures at the end so...

And I'll leave it at that XD I was nearing the limit anyways.

So... Let's start... this chapter first.

So, part of the reason why this chapter was so late (besides, of course, school and my brother) was because I didn't know how to write it. I mean, I killed five people, I'd have to write a funeral eventually.

Well, see, the thing is, I've never been to a funeral.

I don't know what goes on, I only know what I've seen in movies, read in books, and what my mom told me, which isn't much.

So please forgive me if this is a bit unorthodox.

But anyways, even though I've never been to an actual funeral, I know how it's like to lose someone. In another book that I wrote, one of the first, I mentioned how my grandmother died. Grandmaster-Kayla I know I talked to you when this happened, so I guess you kinda know what I'ma say.

See, when my grandmother died, I wasn't the one who suffered the most. It was my mom. And most of this, how I made everyone act, was based on the observations that I made when my mom was mourning. But she was the closest to her.

I knew her, of course, and visited her a few times, and she was sort of my anchor. I liked being neat her. When she died, at first I refused to believe it, until I did.

So you see, I was a bit like Dhara in a way. She didn't know any of the people who died for obvious reasons, but she still sees her brother suffering and therefore, in a way, she is suffering as well.

I know the scenes I wrote might be horrible, but then, my mom was the one suffering, not my dad or anyone else as much. So our situation was a bit different and I tried as best I could.

Now, about the story...

This story was initially going to be a completely different one, where Mira and Ephraim died later on, what that caused, some dangers, a completely different story in general. Looking back, however, I realized that it wouldn't be a very good story (in my opinion) so I took up the idea thanaton had suggested.

At first, I wasn't sure whether or not I wanted to take it, because I was planning for this to be a story that simply helped me get a roll on and begin, not something big. I was wasn't completely sure I could take the idea without ruining it. I guess you guys can decide whether I did that or not.

Either way, even now, I'm still unsure if I managed to reach the ideas full potential.

On a different note, I'd like to thank you all for the support and patience you've given me throughout this story. I know I'm not the best writer, so I'd like to thank those of you who decided to stick with me until the end. THANK YOU!!!

NOW FOR SOME CHEESY INSPIRATIONS QUOTES AND JUNK XD I DON'T OWN ANY OF THESE!!!!!!!!

"Strength won't fall into your hands just because you want it. It's something you have to reach and get it yourself."

"You can never truly be a success, until you are able to conquer the monsters within your heart."

"Deny the truth, and it will destroy you!"

"It's out past that makes us who we are today, you must remember what happened before so you can learn from your past. You can't ignore where you came from. Don't you know? It's our history that shapes our future."

"It's time to move on, not look back. The past is over."

"God gives the worst battles, to His greatest warriors."

"It's not the beginning of the trial that counts, it's the final verdict."

"

Friends like others, allowing them to like themselves. That's why they want to be together. If you're in pain or suffering then give some to me. That's what being friends all about."

"The problem with darkness is that nobody wants to be a light."

THE END!!!!!!!

You decide if that's true XD.

BYE!!!! MAY YOU ALL HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY AND MAY THE FORCE AND GOD BE WITH YOU AND MAY YOU SLEEP WELL AND DANCE AND SING AND EAT GUACAMOLE WITH CHEEEEEEEESE
