"You sure they can pull this off?"
It was the middle of the night, and Kanan was exhausted, just starting to doze off. It was barely two days after their last communication with his crew, and they were told they would attack the next day. That is to say, after this night was over. The same night Baldy figured it would be nice to push them all to their limits. Everyone had arrived and immediately fallen deep asleep.
All except Ezra that is.
"How are you not knocked out cold after today?"
He saw the boy shrug, "I'm used to it. Been here longer than all of you too. Isn't the first time Baldy has done this. My guess is he got in trouble with his master or had a bad day."
"Well, I'm not used to it so goodnight."
"Wait!" The boy winced when he heard Ally groan. He continued in a quieter tone, "You sure your crew would pull this off?"
Without hesitation, Kanan responded, "Positive."
Ezra shook his head, "I'm not asking if they'll come. I'm asking if they'll run off at the first signal of the plan going wrong. If so, I need to know."
The jedi turned to look at the boy, "They won't leave without what they came for unless the plan is completely impossible to accomplish. It won't come to that though. We're all going to make it out of here alive."
Something's passed by the boy's face, almost as if he knew that wouldn't be possible, but disappeared before Kanan could process it.
"Right. Okay. And if one of us happen to be left behind..."
"That won't happen."
"But let's just say it did okay? What would you all do then?"
The man sighed, "Listen, I said I'm sorry for what happened. But if someone does happen to get grabbed, we'll come back for them."
"Soon right?"
"Definitely."
"Good. Uh... goodnight?"
"Goodnight."
Kanan heard some shuffling movement before everything was silent except the quiet, steady breaths of the children around them. Everything was peaceful.
And yet, he couldn't seem to fall asleep anymore.
Something nagged at his mind, telling him something was about to happen and he'll want to be there for it. So, a bit begrudgingly, Kanan stayed awake and waited.
For half an hour.
By then, the jedi was going to just brush it off as his mind playing tricks on him when he heard a jump, with ragged breaths coming soon after.
He turned and saw Ezra in a fetal position, eyes tightly closed, trembling hands gripping his hair tightly.
Immediately scooting over, Kanan gently forced the boy's hands away from his hair and moved them to his lap. Ezra moaned and started to squirm, his nails digging deep into his palms.
Knowing he had to let the others rest, the jedi moved the boy so his head was on his chest. The teen seemed to relax for a second before tensing, and letting out a scream.
Instincts kicking in, Kanan slapped a hand over the boy's mouth, pressing him to his chest to muffle the noise. Ezra continued to scream before he started to mumble.
"Dad! Dad!"
Cursing, the man started rubbing circles on his back, whispering soothing words.
It took a while, but eventually Ezra calmed down and slept through the night, leaving Kanan to try to get as much sleep as possible before the big day.
Of course, the Force decided otherwise.
"He must really trust you if you managed to do that."
Suprised (and annoyed), the jedi turned towards Ruby, who was half sitting against the wall.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean is that none of us have been able to calm him down whenever he has that nightmare. Not even Ghost K. It's become a drill. We usually wait until it passed."
Kanan nodded, processing the new information, "Uh, thanks? That's-that's good to know. Now if you excuse me, I'd like get some sleep."
The girl nodded, "G'night."

The Inquisititor watched as Darth Vader himself strolled down the Imperial transport ship, his black cape flowing behind him menacingly. His mechanical breathing resounded the room, while a tense army of stormtroopers, pilots, I.S.B. Agents, and the Inquisitor himself in the center stood waiting.
He could feel the fear radiating off of many of the Imperials present, which was the usual. Many people trembled at the sight of the Inquisititor, so it was only logical that the effect would be worse with Vader.
The sith-lord strolled foward as the Inquisitor bowed, "Master."
"Enough of this Inquisitor, I want to see those Apprentices of yours I was so kindly informed of."
The pau'an rose and walked towards the door, his master at his heels. The only satification he felt was knowing that he didn't need to deal with the I.S.B. agent who spilled the beans. The dark-force user made sure he learned his lesson.

Hera Syndulla was nervous.
No scratch that, Hera was more than nervous. Her stomach was a meadow full of butterflies, her heart hammering against her chest to the point where the pilot wasn't sure if her ribcage could hold. The thought of what she was about to do, the people and things that depended on her to get things right, made the twi'lek feel even more anxious. The lives and freedom of six kids and her jedi rested in her sweaty hands.
Ezra had been in there a while ago, and had managed to loosen her restraints to the point where a simple tug could break them, and escape unnoticed through the vents where he promptly returned to the others. Before, though, he had wished her luck and offered her some reassurance, for which Hera was grateful.
It only took a second for her to be completely unrestrained in her cell.
Taking a deep breath, he prisoner called, "Hey stormtroopers! Or should I call you bucketheads? You do seem to enjoy wearing buckets! Is that why you can't shoot a prisoner that's an inch in front of you?"
Just as planned, the Imperials came in, blasters out in front of them, and white armor gleaming in the artificial light of the cell. Hera was prepared though, knocking both of them out before they had a chance to call for reinforcements.
"Really wish Zeb were here," She muttered, before racing out of the room, purposefully getting the attention of the other guards.
"The others better be here soon, or else this whole plan just went down the drain."

I DIDN'T LIE!!!! I TOLD YOU THE PLAN STARTED!!! SEE!!!! *points at Hera's diversion*
THE PLAN STARTED!!!!! XD
Anywho, I can't wait for you guys to read the rest. *grins evilly* I apologize beforehand for what happens in the end. For all the chapters that are next.
So...
Kanan calmed Ezra's worries about his crew coming through with the plan, and calms him down from a nightmare he was told none of the others could do! What could this mean? Is the boy finally starting to trust the man who abandoned him years ago?!
Kanan: Hey!
The Inquisititor was ratted out by an I.S.B. agent, and Vader has come into the base! Who could this I.S.B. Agent be, and what does Vader plan to do?!
Vader: Look at his apprentices, duh! I mentioned that did I not?
Hera has taken out some guards and alerted the other bucketheads of her escape as a diversion for the others! Could this be the start of a successful plan?!
Anyway, I'ma repeat what I said before, thank you all of you for your support, patience, and love for this story! I know we started off a bit shaky with updates, but I came through in the end and I'm endlessly grateful for every single vote, comment, and view. Thank you!
:D
