"That's it? You're leaving."

"I guess so."

An impenetrable weight encumbered your chest upon registering the fact that Din Djarin would, once again, leave in order to continue his bounty hunting profession. The way the Mandalorian uttered those words lacking any sort of emotion, no feeling, no nothing—it caused for your dreadful trepidation to confirm itself.

Din no longer loved you.

Maybe he never did. Why he elected to stick around Rainoh for so long, you had no clue. But if he didn't feel the same adoration and fondness as you did for him, then what was the point in all this?

Why did he even bother?

Scoffing, you slowly approach the man clad in beskar until you were mere inches away from his dark visor. The distorted reflection of your expression was perfectly visible and your face clearly exhibited the heavy sentiment afflicting you. You were aggrieved, miserable, resentful, inflamed altogether and you evidently failed to hide what you desperately attempted to contain.

"Did I ever matter to you?"

Your eyes bore holes into his tinted visor. Words couldn't explain the pure rage you felt and struggled to maintain in check. Nevertheless, you weren't going to raise your voice at him. You were a princess and you couldn't lash out in a fit of anger. No, it was imperative for you to keep your calm. Urgently, you searched for his eyes (The eyes you would never have the chance to gaze into. The eyes you longed to see, so you could directly experience the love he supposedly held for you. The eyes you wished you could admire in secret as he admired you back). You searched, because you desperately needed to see what he truly felt.

Was he simply trying to act tough? Were his eyes brimmed with tears like yours were? Was he on the verge of breaking down like you are in this very moment?

It pained you to never have the answer to those questions.

"Yes," he whispered, softly, gently, lovingly. "You still do."

Yet you couldn't bring yourself to believe him.

It was a complete lie. Because if you still mattered to him, he wouldn't be doing this. He wouldn't be out bounty hunting every second of his life, rarely ever visiting you at the palace. You were sick and fed upwith him constantly deciding to undertake his occupation over you, tired of him leaving you entirely alone and feeling isolated, no matter how many people surrounded you in your life. You needed Din. Why couldn't he understand that? He was your comfort, your serenity, your love. Somehow, Din had enraptured your heart since day one and since then the two of you were inseparable. It wasn't always like this. He used to take advantage of literally any opportunity to return to Rainoh and see you.

What happened to that? Why can't you have that again?

You shook your head at his response. He only stood, still and unmoving, with his visor tipping down to examine your features.

"Well, that's not what it seems like. I believe you love your bounty hunting more than you love me."

Silence.

"I'm right, aren't I?"

Saltwater threatened to spill from your eyes upon noticing he truly had no response to your accusation. You found yourself turning away from him to ultimately conceal what pain stirred aggravatingly within you. With your back facing him, you gazed straight ahead towards the open balcony of your room. What caused this argument to be ten-thousand times worse was that, moments previously, you and your Mandalorian had shared a serene, loving moment filled with unconditional affection towards each other. Right there. And soon after, as Din confessed he would need to leave tonight, this terrible dispute broke out.

Was it your fault? Partly, yes. You could have simply dismissed him then. Whispered your final goodbyes to him, embrace each other for one last moment, lift his helmet, slightly, until his lips were revealed, and allow him one last kiss before he left. Then, he'd fly off in the Razor Crest, and you'd await his return. The problem was, you couldn't hold it in anymore. You needed him to know your opinion, how you felt about him constantly departing, which did end up in this heated discussion. But Din was also partially culpable here. He had only arrived a couple rotations ago yet he was already off, leaving.

Did any of this really matter anymore?

It seemed like there was no fixing this, truly.

It should be put to an end. All of it.

"That's not true..."

Your chest heaved with a deep sigh as your heart accelerated speedily, pounding painfully against your ribcage. Gaze remaining glued to the luminescent twin moons ahead, your mind raced to form the correct words to say, the right decision in this moment, to end all the affliction Din has caused you. His short responses irritated the hell out of you, and how he wouldn't even bother to make amends and fix the issues between you anymore was simultaneously infuriating and disheartening. This has happened one too many times and each argument was increasingly becoming nastier and nastier.

There was no going back.

The love you shared was lost.

Closing your eyes shut, you permitted the fresh tears to spill, hot as they streamed down your cheeks. You recognized exactly what you needed to say, but to say them was something else. It took all your strength, gathered together, to say it.

"Din, leave."

There was no backing down now.

Din didn't leave. Not yet. He stayed. Yet you couldn't bring yourself to turn around and face him, or else you'd regret it. You would take back your words and attempt to apologize, even though there truly was no way to amend your shattered relationship.

"It doesn't have to be like this."

So now he didn't want to leave? You couldn't understand him and that was another factor that enraged you. Din studied you intently from behind, searching for any sign or clue that you would take it back. That you didn't truly mean it. But your voice was strong, lacking a single crack in it. Your posture, straight and confident—the way you stood when you made a final decision didn't go unnoticed by him.

"You told me you needed to leave, Din. And now I'mtelling you—" you wiped your tears away from your face, swiftly, before spinning around to face him again. "—to leave. Isn't that what you wanted?"

You went silent afterwards. So did he. He knew it was over. You both did. The love between you two had vanished and wouldn't ever return again.

But he was reluctant.

He didn't seem like his desire was to leave now.

But you had had enough of this.

"Cyare—"

"No. No, you don't get to call me that anymore. Just— just get out. Get off my planet, you're no longer welcomed here. Just don't come back again. There's no point in this anymore."

You two shared one final glance with each other. One last glimpse of each other, and then he was gone. Heading through the door that lead to the palace's grand hallways, and shutting it behind him.

Only then did you allow yourself the liberty to sob.

All that time spent with him, the troubles you endured solely so you could have a chance of being together, the effort you put into a caring a man who wasn't even allowed to show his face to you, all that? It went down the drain, time wasted, time you would never get back, time you shouldn't have ever spent with him.

Once more you found yourself questioning, did any of these ever matter to him? Those intimate, pleasurable, fiery nights together, hours spent in each other's arms as he whispered sweet-nothings into your ears, did he really care? You loved him. He had told you he loved you, that your affection was mutual. So why didn't it seem like he did? You understood his faithfulness to his Mandalorian Creed, why he couldn't remove his helmet in front of you, and how he devoted his entire life to being a bounty hunter. You understood it full well. Still, that didn't mean he needed to be out hunting everyday, right? It was as if he didn't want to be near you anymore.

Perhaps he had gotten sick of you.

It was a shame, really. You imagined you would spend the remainder of your lives together...

Vision blurred with tears, your gaze was trained on the door as if expecting Din to barge through it and return to you. As if he'd regret what he'd previously done, apologize, and everything would go back to normal. Or maybe it was you who regretted your decision.

You shouldn't have told him to leave.

You were hurt, you couldn't bring yourself to think straight, your mind was a complete and utter mess.

It... it could've been solved out, right?

Right?

You could have sat down with him, and... worked things out...

The familiar rumbling of the Razor Crest's engines revving filled your ears, causing you to dash to the balcony and watch as the gunship ascended into the frigid air and ultimately take off. Saltwater coursed down your face as you merely watched it leave the planet of Rainoh, the extreme wind blowing violently against you, your nightdress flowing along with it, hair obstructing your view. It was absolutely freezing in these low temperatures yet you couldn't care any less about it. The pain within you had managed to blind you of anything else. The only thing you could possibly do was watch, as the man you loved left the planet, the city, leave you.

Without realizing, he was leaving a bundle of surprise behind as well.
