Live Aid Performance; Brian May x reader
*Author's note*
Alright here we go guys, originally this was to be the last part for "Soulmates through music" but as I will explain in the next part the reason why this is the second to last. There will be some emotional stuff but overall it's just PURE FLUFF and LOVE all around. Hopefully I managed to get the epicness that was Queen's performance that was Live Aid into text format (although I think I failed cause that's just pure epicness) okay I will silence my Ted rant and just let you all enjoy this part and I can't wait for you all to read the final part for STM.

*July 13th, 1985*
It was the biggest rock concert in history and all for a good cause. Live Aid was for the African charity benefit for the starving children. Anybody who is anybody is going to perform in it, and most of them have either been my idols or good friends while still touring with Queen. Brian had told me that Queen had finally came to the decision of wanting to perform in it after patching things up with Fred.
I was circling nearby backstage with my brother Tim who was holding my daughter Louisa's hand while I handled Jimmy and Chloe.
"You said they'd be back here?" asked Tim.
"Yeah, can you take the kids and head back to your seats, I'm gonna try and find Brian and wish him and the boys good luck." I pecked my brother's cheek and said to the kids. "Now you stay with your Uncle Tim okay, don't leave his side alright?"
"Yes muma we know." They chorused out. I grinned at them and pecked each of their cheeks and that's when Louisa said.
"Give daddy a kiss for me mummy."
"I will my little nightingale." I gave her another peck on her nose and my brother walked off with the kids to take them to their seats. I walked towards the back entrance but that's when one of the security guards stopped me and he said.
"Can I help you?"
"It's fine I'm only hear to see my husband Brian May of Queen."
"Show me your backstage pass and I can grant you access." I then opened up my purse and began to dig through it. But my heart sunk as I couldn't find it.
"I'm sorry one second, please." He sighed and crossed his arms over his chest as I began unzipping some of the side pockets hoping to find it but then I realized. I must've left it on the table back at the house while trying to get the kids ready since we were about to run late. "Please I swear I did have a pass but I left it at home, can't you at least let me see my husband?"
"No pass, no entry I'm sorry Ms. It's regulations, now I'm gonna have to ask you to please take your seat outside."
"No you don't understand I was a former member of Queen. Just call them, they would know me!"
"Ms. I'm sorry but if you don't leave then I'm afraid I will have to ask you to leave Wembley stadium."
"But I—"
"What in the bloody hell is going on here? Wait.....(Y/n)? (Y/n) May is that you?" I looked behind the guard and low and behold there stood Elton John.
"Elton."
"Oh darling you sweet loveable woman come here and give us a kiss." Elton walked up to me and we pecked each other's cheeks. "So come to give your teacher some support and love eh? Or are you just here for that man of yours."
"Oh come on Elton you know I'm crazy for you." I said with a teasing smile. He grinned at me and he said.
"Oh I know darling, well why aren't you already back here with the rest of us?"
"I seemed to have forgotten my backstage pass and I—"
"Excuse me son," he now turned to the security guard, his back straightened up as he tried to make himself taller even though he was a dwarf compared to this security officer. "But do you have any idea who this lovely woman is?" The security guard stuttered and that's when Elton snapped, "This is (Y/n) May, wife of guitarist of Queen Brian May. Pianist and keyboardist of Queen. And she doesn't need a backstage pass when she has and always will be a star like the rest of us. So if you don't give her clearance to enter we're gonna have a serious problem son, do I make myself clear?"
"Perfectly clear Mr. John sir."
"Good now come with me darling and we'll find that rascal of a husband of yours." Elton took my hand and dragged me away from the security guard and further backstage.
"Wow Elton I didn't know you could be that aggressive."
"Sweetie you don't know the half of it." He winked at me.
It's funny actually of how I got to meet Elton. It was just shortly after the release of 'A Night at the Opera.' I was at a pub with Deacy at the time, the two of us wanting a peaceful night out as friends when it was open mic night. I decided to go up and play the piano and sing "Tiny Dancer".
I had gotten a round of applause for my performance and while Deacy and I sat at our booth I felt a tap at my shoulder and I swore I thought I was going to pass out because right there was Elton John himself.
He told me that no one but him could ever play the piano like him for his songs, that people who have tried always ended up missing a key or note and had to start over, or they just fuck up the singing but he told me that my singing and piano playing had been the greatest cover performance he had ever seen.
Deacy and I being fans of Elton that we were, were practically freaking out, mostly me and that night Elton John sat down with Deacy and I and we got to talking. He had heard about Queen and thought that our music was unlike anything he had ever heard and he loved our recent album and he couldn't stop listening to it.
He asked me how long I had been playing the piano and I gave him my answer and it was right there that Elton John had offered to give me some pointers on how to be a better pianist and give me tips on the best ways to play said instrument. And whenever I was given some free time away from Queen and during my maternity leave, I would call Elton up and we'd have our private tutoring sessions.
From then on, he took me under his wing and became not just my mentor, but one of my greatest friends.
"So tell me darling how is the family life treating you now?" he asked me.
"Oh three kids ain't easy but I get by. Especially when Brian gets a break."
"And if you don't mind me asking, how's your....." he stopped and held my hands and gestured to them as he lifted them up a bit. I sighed heavily and said.
"Some days are good, some are unbearable. But I'd rather live with it than risk a surgery that could do extreme nerve damage. I couldn't handle it if I was never able to use my hands for anything else, like holding my children, touching Brian, doing normal household work. That's a sentence worse than death. But I do miss playing the piano, sometimes it's hard to even look at the one back home."
"You are a fighter dear, and I know it's hard but like I've always told you. Health always comes first, without your wrists...."
"A pianist is nothing. I know Elton, I know." He smiled softly at me and kissed my fingers and he said.
"Now let's go find that no good husband of yours."
"Elton!"
"I'm playing darling." We walked on ahead until we finally reached the trailers.
As we walked on we finally came across one of the trailers and stopped and I turned to Elton and asked him.
"Is this the one?"
"Yep, I saw them a little bit ago being photographed right here. David's and mine are just that way. I'll be in mine should you need me, it's the one on the left. Give that husband of yours my love."
"You got it E." I said. We kissed each other's cheeks in goodbye and he walked off back to his trailer to get back into the mental state before he would perform. I walked up to the trailer and gave it three soft knocks. The door opened and the person who opened the door had short black hair, was wearing a black tank-top and brown leather coat and jeans. He also sported a tache much like Freddie and that's when I heard from the side.
"Hello my empress penguin." I looked and there right by the door was my husband.
"Hello my emperor penguin. I came to wish you all good luck before you went up on stage." Brian got up from his seat, sitting his red special down and coming down the steps of his trailer and taking me in his arms giving me a loving kiss. When we separated he asked me.
"Where are the kids?"
"Tim took them to their seats, they can't wait to see their daddy up on stage. And this is from Louisa." I pecked his cheek which made him smile.
"Thank you darling and be sure when you see her to give her this for me." He cupped my face and gently kissed my nose before giving it an Eskimo kiss making me giggle.
"You two I swear how can you be both sweet yet sickening." Roger's voice stated out. I rolled my eyes and Brian led me inside the trailer and I went up to hug Roger. He wrapped his arms around me and kissed the top of my head.
"We're glad you could make it (y/n)." Deacy's voice rang out. I turned to him and pecked his cheek before embracing him and he hugged me back. It was then I turned to Freddie and he said.
"Hello darling." I smiled softly at him and said.
"It's good to have you back Fred." I walked up to him and we both kissed each other's cheek and hugged each other. Once we separated he turned to the man who had opened the door and introduced us, "(Y/n) this is Jim. Jim, this is Brian's lovely wife and the never forgotten true queen of Queen, (Y/n) May."
"Pleasure." he said as he extended out his hand and I took it and we both shook hands with each other.
"Hello Jim." I greeted him. I could hear soundchecks being made outside from the speakers and I said to them. "You all ready?"
"Ready as we'll ever be." Said Roger.
"You guys are gonna kill it out there, I know my boys better than anyone. You're gonna make the heavens cry. Good luck out there, I'll be rooting right there alongside everyone else."
"Thanks love, I'll see you and the kids after." Brian said. I smiled at him and gave him one last kiss before whispering softly in his ear.
"If you bring the house down, there'll be a special reward waiting back home for my Rock god." I kissed his jawline seductively and headed on out of the trailer. "Good luck out there your majesties." I stated aloud before leaving and winking towards them but mainly at Brian.
I then headed over toward Elton's trailer to wish him good luck as well before heading back to my seat. I came to his trailer and knocked at the door and there he opened the door.
"So I take it that it went well?" he asked with a knowing smirk.
"Yep. Now I want to wish you luck, it's best I head back to my seat before I get into any more trouble."
"Nonsense darling, you're staying back here with the best view in the house. I'll even watch them perform with you if anyone gives you a hard time. Come on, I think they're about to call them up now." Elton then shut his trailer and escorted me back towards the right wing of the stage and I really did have a good viewing of seeing the entire stage.
There stood a couple of policemen up on the stage, one of them speaking into the microphone telling the audience about the noise complaint but it was then he spoke.
"Anyway it gives us enormous pleasure of introducing this next combo," then he and his partner like two soldiers standing at attention took off their hats and placed it over their hearts as the man proclaimed out, "Her Majesty; Queen!" Then right as they left, I saw through the flaps Freddie, Brian, Roger and Deacy race out onto the stage.
The roars of the crowd was thrilling and it made me think back to when I was once up on stage with the boys. Freddie raced across the stage to get the crowd even more pumped up before coming back to the gran piano. Deacy, Rog and Brian testing out their instruments as well as Freddie who played a few various notes on the piano.
It was then the opening notes for Bohemian Rhapsody began playing and the crowd roared with applause at the familiar opening. As Freddie began singing, the crowd sung back loud and proud and I couldn't help but feel so proud of my boys playing together again after so long since the breakup.
Freddie singing with so much passion, Deacy playing his bass gracefully, Roger playing the drums with such power and rhythm and of course my lovely husband Brian playing his red special with poise and elegance. As the next verse played, the audience kept singing along following Freddie's lead, I smile proudly already feeling the tears in my eyes.
Then Brian stepped center stage and took over for his solo. The lights from the stage illuminating his face in this angelic glow, it was like he was a Rock God. I felt Elton rub my back as a tear slid down my face and smiled proudly at my husband's solo. By the end of the song, he let the riff go on for what felt like forever and that's when Freddie stood up from the piano getting the crowd all riled up and he reached outward towards one of the assistants' who handed him a microphone stand.
Soon the opening medley of Radio Gaga started playing. The crowd clapped along while Freddie strutted around the stage like he owned it. And it was then he began singing the song. I could hear some stage handlers and volunteers singing from either behind, above or in front of me as they watched the boys perform.
At the chorus, everyone including me had our hands raised in the air and did the double clap as I softly sing along to myself. My smile not once leaving my face. By the end of the song, everyone screamed and cheered and that's when Freddie gave them his famous 'crowd warmup'. He would first start off with his "Eh-oh's" and the crowd would follow up.
When he held one of his 'eh-oh's' for a long time, the crowd went nuts and I couldn't help but shake my head.
"That showoff!" snapped Elton. I softly giggled and nudged him playfully as we both kept watching Freddie rile the crowd up. Once the crowd was pleased, Hammer to fall then began playing. Brian introduced the song with his guitar intro and it coursed through my veins and I couldn't help but shiver.
"That's my man." I whispered. Freddie then began singing the song and the crowd really got into it, jumping up and down and screaming out the lyrics. As he sang, Freddie also began to tease and taunt the cameraman playfully and getting right up close to the lens singing right into it.
I bopped my head along to the beat and tapped my fingers against my thigh pretending to envision how it would sound on a keyboard and mouthed along to the words. By the end of the song, everyone was hungry for more. It was then Freddie was given a white guitar and as he strummed it testing the sound he said.
"This next song is only dedicated to beautiful people here tonight. It means all of you. Thank you for coming along and making this a great occasion." And it was then Crazy thing called love started playing. I smiled happily remembering the inspiration Freddie had for this song.
He always said this song was about me and Brian and our relationship together. Mixing with what the King of Rock and Roll would do for his music, Freddie took this song and mixed it with the style of Queen he created this song.
I blushed and buried my head into my hand as I laughed softly but felt myself tapping to the beat and when the little "Elvis-dance break" came up, I couldn't help but move my hips and shoulders to the beat. As the song went on and the guitar solo came up, Brian and Freddie stood together playing together and I saw Freddie gesture towards me to Brian and that's when my husband's eyes locked with me.
I noticed a slight grin lift at the corner of his mouth as he stared right at me and did that little head bobble of his. I smiled at him and blew him a kiss, I guess in order to tell me that he received it, he sent a wink in my direction before turning back towards the audience and continued playing.
The audience then took over singing and the guys just stared in awe at hearing the crowd sing their song back to them, letting them take over. Freddie soon joined back in and they all continued to sing the last bit of the song before allowing the ending solo to take over.
Brian walked around the stage playing his red special once more, Deacy doing his little dance moves to the beat while strumming his bass, Roger playing the drums and Freddie closing the song up and then once the song ended, everyone cheered.
I clapped along and that's when Brian turned toward me from stage and quickly blew a kiss in my direction. I caught it in my hand and placed it onto my heart and winked at him.
That's when I heard the familiar three beat rhythm of a song that I had written; We Will Rock you. The audience clapped along to the beat on the first two beats but then by the third they held their hands out. They kept repeating it over and over again and soon Freddie came in with the first chorus.
I couldn't contain my emotions. They were now playing my song, to let people know that I was still apart of Queen no matter what. At first when creating this song I just wanted the audience to be more apart of the show, I didn't know that this song would eventually be put into sports stadiums pre-games or commercials and I was just amazed at how popular my song got to be for not only the band, but for the world.
Tears were streaming down my face as I stomped to the beat and clapped and the crowd soon began singing the chorus back to Freddie. I could see Brian gently moving the whammy bar on his guitar giving his rift more travel and soon the guitar solo came in.
Freddie pranced around on stage but allowed Brian to come center stage and have his shot at the spotlight. Brian had made his guitar solo more gritty and raw that it made it sound even sexier than how he usually played it and I knew that he was doing that all for me. By the end of the song, I applauded and let out a proud whistle for my boys.
And then as normal, with "We Will Rock You", came the song that Freddie wrote, "We are the champions". Both our songs together have always been paired off no matter where it was played. Freddie now back at the piano began playing the familiar tune as he sang the first verse, and when the chorus came up; he had the microphone stand he had been using and walked across the stage as people waved their arms in the air crying out the lyrics and holding onto each other.
By the second verse, Freddie was once more back at the piano and playing it. His voice singing with raw passion that it made more tears spill down my face. I smiled at them all as the chorus started back up again.
Never did I think I could be prouder of my four boys, they truly did what I had asked of them but went above and beyond and instead of punching a hole in heaven, they punched a whole straight to heaven and beyond.
As the song was coming to an end and Freddie held out that last note, I nodded proudly and applauded as a wide smile came across my face as my husband, Roger and Deacy kept strumming and playing their instruments letting the track go one for a bit longer until finally they ended on a big note.
By the end of it all, they all stood together in a line as Freddie screamed into the mic.
"THANK YOU EVERYBODY!!" The audience roared in applause as Freddie blew one last kiss to them and cried out, "WE LOVE YOU!!" Bri, Rog lifted their drum sticks and guitar and they soon left the stage.
First Freddie followed by Deacy and then Bri and Rog.
I raced backstage to meet them and I could hear the applause of the crew and other performers congratulating Queen on a killer performance. I slightly pushed through the crowd until I had reached my target. The tall man with poodle-like hair. The second he turned around and saw me, I strut right towards him and didn't allow him to speak a word as I grabbed him by his collar and slammed my lips against his.
I felt his arms wrap around my waist and could feel him smirk against my lips as he lifted me off the ground and spun me around forcing me to separate from him and laugh joyously. I held onto Brian for dear life as he kept spinning me around before finally setting me down. I cupped his face in my hands and I said to him.
"You were incredible out there my love, you truly brought Wembley to their knees. I am so proud of you."
"I couldn't have done it without your support my Empress." I smiled and that's when Elton's voice soon cried out.
"You fuckin bastards! How is anyone going to compete with that?!" We all had a laugh but he then calmed down and told the guys that they did an amazing job out there, and he said that I was lucky to have such a great husband, to which I agreed as Brian brought me close to him and kissed the top of my head.
I hugged and kissed the rest of the guys on a job well done, telling each of them that they were amazing out there and that I was so proud of them, each of them for giving a killer performance tonight.
By the end of it all, Live Aid had gone well over the 1 million pound deadline and it was all thanks to Queen that they reach 1 mil. Later that night Freddie and Brian came out on stage and they did a couple of songs together and once the concert of the millennia was over, Brian and I met back up with Tim and the kids and we all went back home.
After such a long and tiring day, we all decided to just go to bed. Brian and I were cuddled up in the bed together, my head resting on his chest listening to his heartbeat as my fingers softly drummed against his bare chest.
"No words can describe how proud I am of you at this moment Bri." I lifted my head to look up at him and he smiled down at me. He stroked down my hair and said.
"It was for a good cause and I'm glad we went through it. But there's just one thing I regret."
"What is it?"
"That you weren't up there with us." I smiled sadly at him and kissed the corner of his mouth and said.
"But I was, not just in the wings but in spirit. It's through the music that I can still be connected with you up on stage, and when you guys did my song, it felt like I was up there with you. I could see it in your performance throughout that song. You gave it well above than how you've normally played your guitar solo. And I knew that it was all for me."
"You help make me better when I know you're watching. You're my lucky star." I smiled at him and pecked his chin. "Speaking of better," he started off as I felt his hand slowly trail down my spine and slowly circling my lower back almost touching my butt, "I believe someone said they'd have a reward waiting for me if I were to perform a great show?"
"Did I?" I teased. Suddenly I was flipped onto my back and Brian hovered over me, his nose just barely grazing against mine.
"You know full well what you said back at that trailer." he stated, his eyes full blown with lust.
"But it's soo late Brian, why not just do it in the morning?" I tried to play cute.
"You're gonna turn your lifetime partner down? Huh, my empress penguin?" He lowered himself down towards my ear and lustfully kissed around it, all the while whispering seductive whispers in my ear.
I shivered with anticipation as I let out a few soft moans as I now felt Brian's hands move up and gently cup around my breasts. I soon took a hold of his sweatpants and pulled them down and he soon took off my nightdress until we were lost in a sea of passionate kisses and words of lustful desires yet poetic love praises.
By the end of it all, my head was once again on Brian's chest, our legs intertwined much like how they were back at that first night at Rockfield studios. His arms wrapped securely around me and feeling his head against mine, his curls every now and then tickling my face.
"Hadn't done that in a while." He said.
"Just like Budapest all over again, eh?" I said.
"Darling you and I remember Budapest very differently." I let out a soft yawn and I felt him stroke my hair gingerly. "Go to sleep my love."
"You too my darling. I love you so much Brian Harold May. And I am so proud of what you did today."
"And I love you (y/n) (m/n) May. Thank you for being there to support me and the lads." We softly kissed each other one last time and then we cuddled up together until we fell asleep.
