Chapter Thirteen
The next day came rolling around quicker than they thought, and fortunately Wooyoung was feeling better than he had the day before, he didn't need to worry about whether or not he would have to skip out, especially because he'd finally get to go visit an amusement park, something he had been dreaming about since he was a child! He was walking next to San, which they were behind Jongho and Yeosang.
Wooyoung took notice as he glanced down at Jongho and Yeosang's hands, which were intertwined with each other. Faintly elbowing San in order to gain his attention he motioned to their hands, and when he saw it too he smiled. "Jung Wooyoung managing to do the impossible." Whispered San, making him roll his eyes. Getting to the pier, shrill screamings coming from people on roller coasters, the mixed smells of different fried foods and sea water filled his lungs as Wooyoung took in a breath. Everyone divided up into four groups. Obviously Seonghwa and Hongjoong went off on their own together. Mingi dragged Yunho with him so that they could go ride some of the roller coasters, Mingi proclaiming he wouldn't scream again like the apparent last time they rode rides together. Jongho and Yeosang, the now couple went off to play some games. And that left San and Wooyoung on their own.
"Hey Woo-"
"Oh! Let's go ride some rides like Mingi and Yunho!" Excited, Wooyoung grabbed San's arm and proceeded to drag him. Finding a ride he wanted to try out first, wanting to start off small he found a ride called the tilt a whirl, basically you sit in a cart and spin yourselves around while the carts spun you around each other. Wooyoung had seen these rides in movies and videos! Leaning against the rail, he heard San behind him.
"Uh, Wooyoung?"
Turning around, he tilted his head at San. He seemed nervous about something. Watching as he rubbed the back of his head he sighed and shook it. "Ah, nevermind it can wait until later. We're about to get on." As he said that the gate in front of them swung open, and excitedly, Wooyoung ran to the first cart he saw available. San came closely behind and when sat down, the door was shut by the employee and locked so they couldn't get out. Though while waiting for the ride to start, Wooyoung couldn't help but get curious about what San wanted to say. But the thought was pushed in the back of his head as the ride began.
Wooyoung seemed to enjoy spinning them like there was no tomorrow. San on the other hand? He couldn't keep up. "Woo slow down!" Did Wooyoung listen? No he didn't. In fact, since he was a literal child he even tried to see if he could get them to go faster. By the end of the ride, both were dizzy, San having to force himself not to puke then and there as they got off. "We are NOT riding that again!"
Spoil alert, they ended up riding it at least three more times before Wooyoung had enough and dragged San off to a different ride. Though over the course of the day, as San was being dragged with him, he did try to speak up a few times, about something getting Wooyoung's attention only for him to just back up and tell him nevermind, either because he chickened out or Wooyoung discovered something new he wanted to do.
Each time it annoyed Wooyoung a little because he just wanted to know what the hell he wanted to say. As it neared afternoon, they just got off of one of those small roller coasters when his stomach growled. "It's a little early for dinner but it's too late for lunch." It was San's turn to take Wooyoung's hand and drag HIM around. "Soooo lunner?" Wooyoung forced San to stop, keeping his feet firm on the ground to look at San, brows knitted together in utter confusion. "....Lunner?" San nodded. "Mhmm! Lunner. It's a mix between lunch and dinner. So, what do you want for lunner?" God, San was absolutely insane but shrugged it off, he turned his head down the line of available foods before an idea came to mind. "Oh! I want a corndog!"
And thanks to San, Wooyoung got his corndog, which he thought was the most delicious thing ever. He didn't even seem to notice the little bit of ketchup on the corner of his own mouth. "Messy messy." Being scolded, Wooyoung was forced to look at San as he used his thumb to gently wipe the ketchup from him, licking it off it. The sight gave him butterflies in his stomach. Clearing his throat, he took a large bite out of his corndog, finishing it off and tossing the stick into the trash can. "Let's change it up a bit, and play some games too?" San had suggested when he finished his own , and tossed his trash away after standing up.
But Wooyoung didn't reply. He saw a stuffed dolphin hanging on a hook for display that he was already in love with. With a wave to the front of his face he looked to San, grabbing his arm to yank on it, he pointed in the direction of the dolphin. "I want that! Win me that!" It was a simple knock the pins down game, so it seemed simple enough to Wooyoung. He followed San to the tent where the game was hosted at, San having the worker a five and given three bean bags to use to throw at the pins. But the one thing that sucked about these sort of games; they were always rigged. So even if the bean bags he was throwing were heavy, it wasn't enough to knock them all down.
San wasn't going to give up, he put another five on the table. And then another, and another. "San.. I know I said for you to win it but if you can't it's fine-" He was interrupted with a hand placed over his mouth, San leaning closely to him. "I will get you that dolphin if it's the last thing I do." Was all he said, before he placed down yet another bill on the counter. Wooyoung admired how San was so determined to win, so after maybe the five time, he was able to FINALLY knock all the pins down. When asked which prize he'd like, Wooyoung pointed above himself, so with the help from the worker, Wooyoung left happy with his new stuffed dolphin.
They rode some more rides, one being bumper cars and at some point Wooyoung was cursing San out to near death because he bumped him from behind and it sent Wooyoung jerking forward.
The sun started to set, and with it San checked the time on his watch. "Mm, we should probably try and meet up with the guys soon, but before we do that." Wooyoung felt a hand on his shoulder and was gently moved so that he was looking at San, him looking at him with a slight nervous look and that made himself nervous as well. "I wanna tell you something before we meet up with them. It's kind of important." Wooyoung's grip around his plush dolphin had grown tighter, he himself was getting nervous over what San could want to say to him.
"You know- You remember when we kissed right?" San started, Wooyoung seeing he was even starting to blush, and Wooyoung had just nodded, keeping quiet so that San could continue on.
"Well... Well I-"
"Wooyoung! San!"
Both he and San whipped their heads around, seeing Mingi running up to them with an equally excited Yunho following behind. "Finally! We were waiting for you guys but you seemed to be taking forever, so Hongjoong and Seonghwa sent us to look for you. They found an awesome spot to sit at!" This made Wooyoung smile but it vanished as he had turned to San, who actually seemed annoyed even.. Glaring? Yeah. That was definitely a glare he was giving Mingi. "San?" Wooyoung spoke out his name, San turning to Wooyoung and just shrugged it off. "I'm fine. Let's go where the others are." He didn't wait for Wooyoung, already stepping away and following Mingi when he hurried off.
Wooyoung ended up walking with Yunho, talking about their days together. Apparently Mingi had also won him a prize, it was a stuffed dog. "He said it reminded him of me." Yunho said, looking down at the stuffed toy. "Which I thought was adorable. And said he wanted it to be named Yunho the second. I see San won you something as well." Wooyoung looked at his dolphin, patting the top of its head he nodded. "Yeah. Though it doesn't have a cool name like Yunho the second." Yunho giggled at Wooyoung's joke.
As told by Mingi, everyone was waiting for them a little ways away from the pier, and back on the beach, Seonghwa had even gone back to the house and got a large blanket for them to all sit on. As it was spread out, they all sat next to each other, Wooyoung being sandwiched in between San and Yunho. Wooyoung could definitely see that San was pretty ticked off over something.. It worried him a little. When the sun finally started to set that's when he decided to maybe ask if he was okay.
Tugging on San's sleeve to gain his attention he spoke, "Are you okay? You seem annoyed." But Wooyoung didn't even get a proper response. Just a shrug and "I'm okay" from San before he was looking up at the sky. That just made him more worried. Was.. Was San mad at him? Fuck. Did he somehow ruin today from being so excited over everything? Wooyoung couldn't even get himself excited for the firework show that had started. He tried to, but the thought of San being mad at him was the only thing on his mind. He turned to Yunho, but he had his head on Mingi's shoulder, Mingi's face making it obviously he was freaking out on the inside. Then turned to Yeosang and Jongho. They were kissing. Then he took a brief glance behind him where the two oldest were. Hongjoong was sitting in Seonghwa's lap, the older's arms wrapped around Hongjoong's waist and his chin on his head, both staring up at the sky; eyes sparkled from the lights in front of them.
Wooyoung sighed, and turned his head up to at least try to enjoy the show but the idea still lingered. When the show came to an end, people cheering and clapping Wooyoung got up. He let Mingi hold his dolphin while he went to Seonghwa and Hongjoong, offering his help with folding the blanket which they appreciated greatly, seeing San in the corner of his eye already heading back to their place. This made him sigh out, frowning he focused on helping Seonghwa, but he seemed to take notice of Wooyoung's worries. "Did something happen between you and San?" He asked, his gaze flickering to the pink haired man for just a moment before he was looking at Wooyoung again, who just shrugged.
"I don't know? I don't think I did anything.. But when Mingi and Yunho went to get us he seemed really mad. Whether it was at me or at Mingi I don't know. I hope it's not me..." He lowered his gaze, and felt a hand on his shoulder.
"If you'd like, I can talk to him. Would that make you feel at least a little better? I've known San for quite some time, so I know how to get him to talk." Seonghwa even offered a smile and in an instant Wooyoung was feeling a little relieved. Nodding, he held onto the blanket for Seonghwa, and carried it back to the house. "Keep it out here for the night." The oldest demanded as he was opening the sliding door. "I do NOT want sand in this house because of that thing." Rolling his eyes, Wooyoung set the blanket down. He took his plush from Mingi, before bidding he and everyone that was downstairs goodnight before he was hurrying up the stairs. Changing, he laid in his bed with his arms wrapped around his dolphin. He should really consider giving it a name, maybe that way he wouldn't have to just keep referring to it as just a dolphin toy.
Staring down at it for a while, he groaned. He tried to go to sleep, he shut his eyes and everything but with San suddenly annoyed with him it left him unable to sleep and really just lay in the bed for the longest time. Longer than he thought actually. Giving up the idea of sleep, he tossed the covers off of him to check the time. Already having been laying in his bed for over an hour now, he left the room, not even noticing that San wasn't in his bed either, mainly due to the room being too dark to really notice anything.
Maybe some tea could calm his mind? Yeah.. tea sounded good right now. He started going down the stairs, thinking all the lights would be off but he stopped as he was around the middle of the stairs. The living room lights were on, so someone had to be awake. Actually there were two, he heard two voices. One Seonghwa's and one San's.
"I was literally trying all damn day to tell him but he would either get excited over something knew and interrupt me or when I actually had his full attention Mingi the bastard had to find us and run up to us. Honestly Seonghwa. I might as well forget trying to tell him, besides he's supposed to marry that Eunbi girl-"
Wooyoung poked his head around the corner of the staircase, to see the two on the couch. He wanted to be sneaky but that was something he was never good at. He was easily spotted by Seonghwa, so he looked to San and shrugged. "I don't know," He used his finger to gently push San's head so he would look up and to where Wooyoung was standing at. "I think now is a pretty good time to tell him." Being caught, he slowly walked down the last few steps, and went over to the couch to replace Seonghwa who was already getting up. He could probably tell Wooyoung was nervous so he gave him a smile, even a pat on the shoulder. "It's okay." Was whispered to him. "Goodnight you two." And after saying that, Seonghwa was already making his way upstairs, and left him and San alone.
Taking in a breath, Wooyoung sat down, and turned to San, who was already getting nervous again so to try and calm him, he reached over, taking San's hand and giving it a reassuring squeeze. "San whatever it is you have to tell me you can say it." Wooyoung had reassured him, and San had, after hesitating for a long while, finally looked into Wooyoung's eyes, even swallowing the lump that started forming in his throat. Turning his hand so that he could hold his slightly smaller hand San started.
"I'm very certain you heard what I said to Seonghwa. I've been trying to tell you all day long," His voice seemed almost shaky, as if he were trying to keep himself calm but he was doing a pretty awful job, "But you would stop me and then Mingi stopped me before I could. But that kiss we shared the other day? I didn't want to say anything about it because I didn't want to tell you that I liked it. A little more than I should have and then when you got drunk and asked me to have sex with you-"
"Wait, wait. I-I did what now?" Wooyoung's eyes went wide. Did he really ask San to have sex with him when he was drunk? "You don't remember? You flung yourself onto me asking me but I said no." He was going to add on to that but remembering what he told Wooyoung, his face got all red so he decided he'd just completely skip that part for now. "But back to what I was saying, I wanted to, but you were drunk. So I wasn't going to take advantage of you when you were pretty vulnerable." Wooyoung's heart raced, already having an inkling now of what San was trying to say.
"You like me, don't you?" San choked on his own spit, turning away and covering his mouth while Wooyoung was patting on his back. "It's not hard to tell, especially when you're blabbering on like you are now." Giggling, Wooyoung slowly scooted closer, his knee gently brushing against San's. "But San- my dad would probably kill you and then me for many reasons. One being Eunbi, and two, I'm not even out to him, and I know if I told him I was dating you again, he would kill you and then me." God, sometimes his father really made things so complicated in his life. "Ugh." Sighing his head fell on San, and soon he was feeling arms around his shoulders, being held onto tightly, especially by San made all his worries just slowly melt away. "It's okay." San whispered against his hair. And that's just what Wooyoung needed to hear. Looking up to San, faces just a mere inch apart, he let his own lips brush to San's, before breaking the distance between them and kissed San.
This time, unlike their first, San kissed him back. It was just a sweet yet short kiss, San only pulling back a few seconds later and rested his forehead against Wooyoung's. Both their eyes shut and they just enjoyed this moment that was between them, a hand caressing Wooyoung's cheek; he smiled. "For now, let's just not worry about your dad.. Okay? We still have a whole week before he comes back, so when we go back home, we still have time to figure everything out okay?" For the time being, that put Wooyoung to ease, so he nodded, pulling from San he went to lay down, and San had taken it upon himself to lay on top of Wooyoung, cuddling against him and burying his face in his chest. Watching San, he started to comb his finger through San's hair and let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding. And finally, thanks to all his nerves and worries resolved, he was exhausted and soon fell asleep with San on top of him.
