Chapter Six

Wooyoung was certain that during the day, his father had been blowing up his phone beyond belief. There was no doubt in that but did he care? Not really, especially since his mind had been set on one thing: having fun with San. And he definitely was.

He never felt this relaxed before, genuine smiles on his face during the day as he would go back and forth between splashing around in the water or just sitting out in the sun and relaxing, at one point almost falling asleep but San had fortunately been there to keep him awake. Nothing could have ruined this moment.

At least... until now.

As it turned to the afternoon, he knew that their fun would have to come to an end but he was dreading the words. "We should probably head back." San would say. That made the smile on Wooyoung's face be replaced with a large frown. "Do I have to?" He plopped his back onto the towel behind him. "Well unless you want your dad to murder us then probably."

He knew they had to. But that didn't stop his pout as he was helping San with gathering their belongings so they could leave. "Hey, I had fun today, maybe when you're out of school for the summer your dad might be a little lenient on you and we can have some actual fun." Turning to San when hearing those words his pout washed away, Wooyoung nodding. "Yeah. I'd like that actually. Especially if with you."

Once their stuff was ready to go, he was given his clothes from earlier. "There's a public bathroom close by we can change into, there's also a place where we can rinse ourselves off. Salt water isn't the best feeling when dry. Plus it'll help get the sand off our feet." Following San, he was brought right to where the bathrooms were and he was eighth, there was a place to quickly rinse yourself off so he handed his dry clothes to San and went over. Pressing the button, he felt something ice cold hit his back and making him curse out.

"Fuck! That's cold!" He yelled, hearing the snort come from the elder of the two his head snapped around. "Don't. Laugh." He warned, San attempting to lift up his hands in defense but since they were busy he couldn't do that. Wooyoung went back under the water, ignoring how cold it felt against his skin and rubbed himself off, pushing his hair back he rinsed the rest of himself off, especially his feet before taking his stuff and running inside the restrooms to get himself changed. He hated that he had to go but again, not much choice since he knew that he was already in trouble as it was. Sighing, he tossed on his shirt and took off his swim trunks and replaced them with his pants. Coming back outside he'd see San had already changed after finding himself off and smiled to Wooyoung as he came up.

"How about we get some food on the way back? I'm sure you're hungry." As if on cue Wooyoung could hear his own stomach growling. Remaining still for a bit he heard San burst out laughing and soon he did too. "Uh yeah. Kind of. Those snacks could only hold me off for so long you know?" Nodding he followed San back to his cat where he got into the passenger seat, and once San was in they were off. "You should probably check your phone." San suggested after a moment of silence.

"Nah. Dad can wait another hour or so." Shrugging, Wooyoung had his head rest against the window. He could see through the reflection of San reaching to his radio, so now the only noise in the car was the sound of music, which was nice. Sighing, Wooyoung shut his eyes.

The drive back definitely felt longer than to the beach, along the way stopping by some fast food place to eat and before they knew it was pulling up to Wooyoung's home. But rather than going in immediately he remained in the passenger seat, sighing he took off his seatbelt. "I- uhm. I'll see you tomorrow?" He knew they would, but Wooyoung said that anyway and San had nodded back. Opening the car door he got out. Shutting it, he watched San start to pull out before he'd drive off. Rubbing his face, he turned around. He knew his dad was waiting in the living room most likely so he might as well just... get over it. Going up to the door, knowing it was unlocked he went inside.

As expected, his father was sitting on the couch, arms crossed and a very displeased look on his face. "Hello Wooyoung." His father spoke, breaking the silence while Wooyoung was taking off his shoes. "Care to explain why you ditched class? Where were you all day?" He started spewing questions at Wooyoung nonstop, also asking why he hadn't answered any of his texts or calls. "I'm not a teenager, dad." Wooyoung turned to him. "I'm twenty one years old. I'm an adult. I should be out on my own now doing what I want, yet I stay cooped up in this damn house because of you."

He knew his father didn't like to hear those words, and he was surprised rather than getting yelled at, he watched as he got up, going to Wooyoung. "My boy." He started, Wooyoung's body tensing when he felt a hand placed on his shoulder. "My sweet little naive boy. I know I've kept you cooped up all these years but it's with good reason." He was given an innocent smile, one that made Wooyoung want to puke. "I want to keep you safe. Safe from the dangers of this world as long as I can. You don't know the many people that are after me, if they were to know about you they would want to get their hands on you and do many things- Kill you even." Wooyoung's face went a little pale at that, but stayed silent. "Especially after they killed your mother when they found out I had a wife. It's why I never let you go out anywhere that's not school. Please understand it's to keep you safe. Please?"

Wooyoung didn't say anything. He didn't want to. So he just nodded. The nod alone seemed to make him happy, being pulled into a hug he stood there awkwardly. "Thank you. Now please, from now on if you don't go to school stay here."

After that, his father pulled back, and disappeared upstairs, probably to go into his study and left Wooyoung alone. Groaning, he ran up the stairs too and ran into his room.

Back into his prison for god knows how long. But at least he wasn't screamed or yelled at like he assumed he would have been so that was a plus but god.. the way his dad just smiled at him. It gave him the creeps, even feeling a chill run up his own back. Walking to his bed he plopped down on it. He was definitely in need of a nap after the kind of day he had so he got under his blanket, and shut his eyes after having his head fall onto his pillow, soon falling asleep.

San really did feel bad for leaving Wooyoung in his own but he had to get back to check on his cat, knowing his father must have been pissed at him. But getting back to his apartment he checked his phone and saw that there were no calls or text from his boss. If there wasn't anything then maybe he wasn't in trouble? That, or he was waiting until he saw San the next day to choke him for "kidnapping" his kid for the day. Either way, that was something San would worry about in another day. He tossed off his shoes, Byeol's head peeking up from his couch and made him smile. Heading over he ran his fingers through her fur before plopping onto his couch with a long sigh.

He wished he could have stayed at the beach longer. Seeing Wooyoung so happy, almost like a child. It made him smile. While Byeol was hopping onto his lap and laying herself down San was scrolling through the pictures he had taken throughout the day. Some he took with San, some San snuck of Wooyoung. He even managed to get a video of Wooyoung as they were in the process of attempting to build a sandcastle.

"The sand needs to be wet!" He heard himself in the video, giggling over how pouty Wooyoung was being that his failed sandcastle. "Next time we come here I'll bring a bucket and a shovel, makes shit ten times easier."

"You mean we're coming back?!" His heart softened seeing how excited Wooyoung was getting over the idea of coming back. "Well duh, especially during summer vacation, it's going to be fun!" After that, the video had ended, making San sign and set his phone down onto his lap. He hoped he could bring Wooyoung back. He wanted to do so many things with Wooyoung knowing he hasn't done much. Hell, during their day at the beach he learned that Wooyoung, a gaming addict had never been to an arcade! As he kept saying, what a sad life! But again, he could only hope he could do these things with Wooyoung.
