The Fight

"Crap." Young-Do cursed as he looked down at his crumpled up, torn at the edges schedule. "What's the matter?" "I have music. I hate that class." I audibly gasped. "Music? I love it! Why do you hate it?" "I don't play an instrument. It's a useless class to me." He put the schedule in his pockets, along with his hands. "Well, you don't have to play an instrument to learn from the class. You can learn about composers, their lives, why they wrote the music they did. It's all very interesting when you think about it." Young-Do scoffed. "Maybe you should be my tutor or something." I shook my head. "No way." "Why not? I'd be a model student." I laughed. "Sure you would. You'd probably be last in my class too - of just you!" "Yah, I wasn't last." "Oh, third to last, that's much better." I retorted.

"Well, what class do you have?" He asked, changing the subject. I looked down at my schedule. "I have English, but then I have music right after." Young-Do let out a "tch" and kept walking. "Too bad. I guess your bodyguard has to take some time off." He smiled at me. We came to a fork in the hallway, some classes going to the right, some going to the left. Music and English were in the opposite direction of each other. We stopped and I turned back to face Young-Do. "Don't worry, I'll be fine until then." I reassured him. He looked at me. "You better be." He said it in such a serious manner that I could tell he was genuinely concerned. I smiled at him. "I will." He didn't seem completely satisfied with that, but he couldn't just wait around for me. He had classes too. "I'll see you in world history!" I waved at him as I broke off to the right. He went to the left, smiling at me. "See you, newbie." We both turned around and started walking to our classes. It did feel nice to have somebody care about me this much.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I walked into my English class, sitting down in my assigned seat. I started taking out all my textbooks. The new student syndrome had died down a little bit since yesterday, but there was still a little buzz of whispering and gossiping whenever I walked into a room. Usually it was about me and Young-Do. He's a pretty popular guy, so it made sense for them to wonder about what I was doing with him. They didn't know about our little deal, however, and I didn't plan on sharing that with anyone. That was just between me and Young-Do.
I sat down at my desk before looking up to see a group of girls staring back at me. I had never seen them before and they had never really come up to talk to me before, but I guess it's never too late to make more friends. "Hi there." I smiled up at them. They each flashed a smile, but they were all fake. That made me feel uncomfortable. "You're the new girl, right?" One asked. "That seems to be what I'm known around here." They chuckled. "So, what's Young-Do like?" "Yeah, is he super cool?" "How did you get to be friends with him?" All their questions were about Young-Do.
"U-Uh, he's a good guy." That's all I cared to share. It kind of hurt to know they were just interested in me because of my friendship with Young-Do. They frowned. "Why are you being so nasty? We just want to know about Young-Do." "Yeah, did you think we were really interested in you? That was your bad." Every single word they were saying just made me feel even worse than before. "Can you guys please just leave?" I asked, on the verge of tears. The girls huffed. "Let's go, she's useless." They all returned to their respective seats, bad-mouthing me. I turned my head away from the students and looked out the window. I looked down to see a familiar face in the crowds.
Young-Do was walking around, hands in his pockets, just looking at the scenery. Man, he really didn't care about classes at all. I felt this inner peace whenever I looked at him. No matter what was going on, he really calmed me down. I don't know why, but it's true. I rested my chin on the palm of my hand and looked down at him. Suddenly, he stopped in the middle of the courtyard. I looked and saw there was the same girl with bangs and heels walking towards him. Great, her again. Was everyone in this school mean? Everyone except Young-Do. Sometimes.
I intently looked at them. They were having another conversation like the one they had yesterday. They both looked pretty upset and Young-Do looked like he was just trying to walk away from her. He tried to get past her, but she slammed her hand on his chest. He grabbed her hand and threw it back at her. I winced a little bit as I saw her angry expression. She started yelling at him, throwing a fit like a little child. Young-Do didn't seem to particularly mind. He seemed irritated, but not really that affected. I could tell she knew she wasn't getting through to him, so she stormed off, clutching her hands together in rage.
I saw Young-Do stand still. Then he kicked a rock all the way across the courtyard. Maybe she got to him more than I thought. "Excuse me? Do you not want to pay attention?" The teacher looked right at me. I snapped out of my daze and looked right at her. "Oh, I'm sorry!" I exclaimed. She just sighed and continued on with the lesson. I opened up my textbook, trying to catch up. I didn't even know class had started. Even so, I couldn't pay attention to the lesson.
All I could really focus on was Young-Do.
