When school was finally over, [____] took her time to pack her stuff away.

Most of the students were leaving but some lingered around the classroom to chat.

"Hey, [____]! Want to go to the mall with us?!" Mina was the very first person to invite her anywhere. She grew up being smothered by her parents so much that she never got a chance to go out with friends.

It was one of the things she was most excited about, coming back to Japan and hanging out with a group of classmates. "I'd love to! But...I kind of have a little problem that has to tag along if I go...It'll be bothersome so...Maybe some other time?"

"Well...What's the problem?"

"Her face, obviously." Katsuki replied to Mina's question.

"Stop being so mean to her, bro! You already asked her out and she turned you down; no need to be sad about it!" Kirishima reminded everybody that had ears about what happened after their practice was over.

"I want you on my team."

After hearing those words come out of the blond's mouth, [____] pouted. 'First he tries to kill me for no reason when we were younger, then he pretends he doesn't know me in front of his friends, then he kisses me, then he acts like it never happened and wants to kill me again, and now he asks me to be his teammate?! Just how twisted is this guy?!'

Truthfully, she wanted to tell him something along the lines of; 'I rather die.'

But knowing how serious he would take her answer, he might actually grant that request. So instead, a "sorry" was all she could say.

& it obviously got him upset.

"Shut up, shitty hair! Nobody asked her out!"

While Bakugo threatened to hurt the only guy who was laughing at the situation, [____] focused on how to describe that her parents hired bodyguards for her since her mother thought they were attacked by gang members the other night.

"Eeh...So you really did go to Bakugo's house that day..." In the end, [____] explained everything to Mina as best as she could. "And it was you and Bakugo who ruined your dad's hair? So now you're stuck having huge bodyguards follow you around everywhere you go until you die?"

"Or until my mom finds out who those 'gang members' are. Which she never will, because they don't exist!" [____] cried internally at her dilemma. "So you see...You don't wanna be seen with me and a scary looking security guy at the mall...That will just be calling out attention to you—"

"So what?! I go to the mall with these idiots all the time and they're loud! Don't you think we already get all the attention as it is?!" Mina pointed at Bakugo and his friend. "Come on, [____]! Live a little! Let's go eat a burger! Right guys?"

"I'm not going." Katsuki informed before he got dragged along in their plans. "I won't be able to hold anything down while looking at fat cheeks, over there."

"I have a name, you know."

"Don't let him bother you, [____], he's always like this." Mina whispered to her while pulling out the ace under her sleeve. "Besides...I'm paying, so whoever wants a free burger can tag along if they want!"

Kirishima's eyes widened to her announcement and he gripped tightly on Bakugo's arm. "Bro. Let's go."

"I'm not going!"

"Todoroki, [____] took a beating to save you, too! Shouldn't we pay her back somehow? Will you come with us?"

'Mina, what are you doing!? Inviting others just like that?! Too many people around one bodyguard will definitely catch people's eyes!' [____] whined inside her head.

Even though her mother was famous and the family of three were always being spotted and chased by paparazzi; [____] never got used to being the center of attention. It was actually her current fear; being stared at by so many people.

She was surprised to hear her classmate's answer after looking at the new girl for a second. "I'll go, but I'll pay for myself."

"Come on, Bakugo! Even Todoroki is going! Hey, let's have some fun today! You need something to cheer you up!" Kirishima kept bugging his friend to agree.

"I told you, I'm not going!!"

"I fucking hate all of you."

Katsuki was cursing everyone out when the group entered the mall in pairs.

Mina had her arm wrapped around [____]'s. It made the new girl overthink about how that type of affection would be shared only by a couple.

"[____]! We got the hottest guy in class to tag along!" Mina excitedly whispered to her friend. "This is gonna be so much fun! Don't you think?"

[____] looked back to see Kirishima tugging on Bakugo's shirt every time he observed the stores he liked. Bakugo was ignoring him for the most part and behind them was Todoroki silently following the group, alongside [____]'s bodyguard.

"Why is he all the way in the back? Doesn't he feel awkward over there?" She whispered back to Mina. "And do you really think he's the hottest guy in our class?"

"You can't deny his looks, [____]. Come onnnn, look at him!"

"I mean, he's very interesting to look at...maybe that's just because he's serious all the time."

As much as [____] tried to deny it, the one she was attracted to the most was the guy who kept claiming that he didn't wanna be there at all.

"[____], you know, there's a reason why I asked Todoroki to join us." Mina sounded serious for a moment.

"W-Why's that?"

"I can't tell you!" She winked, creating a different aura than just seconds ago, "It'll ruin all the fun for me, if I do!"

Kirishima made the group stop their tracks so he could locate the place he wanted to eat, "Guys, look! I know this place sells some of the best burgers in town and the meat is supposed to be from Italy! [____] you been to Italy before, right?"

"Yeah." The girl nodded.

"Really?! You have?" Kirishima double asked since he wasn't expecting her to say yes in the first place, he was just trying to casually strike a conversation with her.

"Yeah...My mom has done a couple of photo shoots in Venice."

"Woah! That's awesome sauce!"

"Fuck's sake, who the fuck speaks like that!?" Bakugo walked past them to get to the entrance of the fast food restaurant. "You're a walking embarrassment."

"I know you're just angry 'cause you haven't eaten all day so I forgive you and I'll order for you!" Kirishima was probably the only person in the world who would do such a task after being treated like that. "Mina, are you sure about paying?"

"A-Actually, I would like to pay, instead." [____] decided that it was about time she used the gift card that her mother had given her for her 10th birthday party a few years ago.

She had exactly 212,550 yen to spend. She only knew this because every now and then she would call the number in the back of the card to make sure the account was still active.

"[____]! I said I'll pay! So don't worry about it!" Mina pulled out her blue hologram wallet just to show everyone that it was empty. "Aw, crap! I forgot that I spent my weekly allowance money on a new pair of shoes!!"

"I'll pay." Todoroki finally spoke up. "I don't mind."

"Todoroki, you're so manly." Kirishima wiped away a fake tear. "Not letting a girl pay is something all men should do!"

"If Icyhot is paying then don't expect me to go easy on my order." Katsuki smiled before walking up to the counter to intimidate the female cashier.

"Yay! We get to eat thanks to Todoroki!" Mina placed a hand on [____]'s shoulder. "Don't you think that's nice of him? He's so kind even though he's very quiet, and that's what makes him more attractive!"

[____]'s face turned bright red since she thought her friend had just confessed her love for him or something; little did she know that Todoroki was used to having Mina and other girls compliment him like that on a daily basis so he didn't think much about it.

"Thank you for paying..." [____] shyly bowed her head to her classmate and followed after the other girl who was already pressuring Bakugo to finish ordering.

Todoroki watched her leave before looking at her body guard. "You want something, too?"

"Me?? Uhh...Ok."

"Thank you for the meal, Todoroki!" Kirishima was the only one who kept thanking him as they finished eating. "I will always remember your manliness!"

'There has got to be a better word for what he's trying to say...' [____] looked at the remaining of her food. She ordered whatever Mina was having but the burger was too big, she couldn't eat more than half without feeling bloated. 'I should wrap this up and take it home with me...If dad tries to cook again in the morning at least I know I can eat this for backup...'

"[____]." It seemed like every time Todoroki would say her first name, she would automatically tense up. "You want some?"

"Are those...curly fries with cheese and bacon?" She eyed the tray of fresh food.

He pushed the container of fries closer to her, inviting her to grab the fork that was sticking out of the dish. "May I?"

"Enjoy yourself." He nodded. "I only bought it because it looked interesting."

She hesitated, but found it to be rude if she didn't take a bite. She then smiled, "It's good. Are you sure you don't want some?"

"I'll try it too, I guess." He grabbed another fork from his tray to test it out. "It's not bad..."

"Did anyone else feel that sudden mood change or was it just me?" Kirishima suddenly asked. "It feels like we're interrupting a couple's date or something."

[____] dropped her fork in an instant. "No! That's not what it is! You guys can eat some too!"

Mina teased the pair. "Todoroki, if you wanna spend some time alone with [____], all you have to do is ask us to leave, you know..."

"I'm telling you! That's not what happened!" The girl was the only one denying it while the guy was just silent. "Say something, Todoroki! It's not like that, right?"

Katsuki rolled his eyes at the whole conversation. "I'm going to the vending machines to buy a soda."

"But they sell drinks right here." Kirishima pointed at the menu, confused.

"They suck ass. I'm going—"

"You want me to tag along?"

"ALONE." He finished his sentence, silencing his best friend.

"He's just thirsty that's why he's upset." Kirishima smiled it off after Katsuki was out of their sight. "Anybody wanna share a sundae with me?"

"Oh, me!" Mina looked back to the menu to read their options out loud. "Chocolate is too much! Let's try the strawberry banana one!"

[____] waited a while to get up from her seat. "I'm going to the vending machines also...I just remembered, I wanted to buy a drink from there, too! A-Anybody want something? It'll be on me..."

She tried to make it sound like it was unintentional, to go be with Bakugo alone and all; but Mina saw right through it. "Ahhhhh...Okay, then...Get me a strawberry drink, please!"

"Kirishima? Todoroki?" [____] looked at her other two classmates for their answers.

"No, thanks."

"Strawberry...drink..."

"Ahh! Why is everyone mimicking my taste buds today?" Mina asked humorously. "Oh! Security dude! I think you should stay because I see a couple of strange looking dudes in here, I think they are the same people from that gang that you're looking for!"

'Mina, thanks!' [____] grabbed the pink wallet from her bag before running off while her body guard was distracted.

"Stupid piece of shit!!"

"There he is!" She didn't have a hard time spotting the blond, who kept kicking the vending machine again; she figured it continued to eat his cash and he sought revenge on it.

She swiped the gift card on the appliance's reader, then purchased an orange soda for him. "Here, and take it this time, please."

He scowled. "What do you want?!"

"Um..."

"Why are you following me around and buying me this shit, again?!"

"Well, I was hoping we could talk."

"About?!"

"T-The..." 'Oh, please don't make me say it out loud!' She thought. "The...kiss..."

He finally grabbed the soda can from her and avoided eye contact by looking at a nearby pot of silk plants. "Didn't I tell you to forget about that crap!?"

"Well...Yeah I tried to. I just can't. I gotta know why you did it..."

"Fuck, why are you so annoying?" He didn't hear an answer, so he added on. "Get over it. I hated every second, anyway."

"Y-You did!?" It almost hurt [____] to hear it. 'But you were the one who did it! I should be hating it more than you!'

"Yeah, you wear too much of that shit on your lips, it's nasty." He opened the metal container and took a sip of the fizzy drink before rambling off.

[____] gasped at his bluntness, walking after him. "And I thought you probably liked me 'cause you asked me out after practice!"

He stopped his tracks only to raise his voice at her. "I don't fucking like you and I wasn't asking you out! Cut that shit out, already!"

"Well, then what was that all about?! Telling me you want me to join your team, it wasn't even a question you kind of just demanded it!"

"You—" It was clear to him that if he kept insulting her, it would just push her away from wanting to join forces, so he bit his tongue for the first time ever. "You're just....You are not much of a weakling as I thought you were, back then."

"Wait...what?" [____] could feel her heart beating faster from the compliment he tried to spew.

"If you're able to enhance my attacks like how you did when we were practicing....Then I want you to be on my team."

Hearing it again, and this time with some context; she couldn't help but smile. 'He thinks I can be some sort of help! Finally, he acknowledged my power! I guess being that honest can be good sometimes, too...'

"Now that you're making that dumbass face I realize that this is a mistake."

Before he left, she held on to his wrist. "Wait!"

"What now?!"

"I just—! I just want you to know that it means a lot to me, what you just said..." She really meant the words, too. She almost felt like she was gonna cry from happiness. "And I would love to join your team, for now anyway, because it's the first time I found out I can do such a thing...and if I need your quirk to study more of my own, then being equals doesn't sound so bad..."

"Who the fuck said anything about being equals?! I'm your fucking leader!" He shook his arm to get away from her. "And why the fuck do you have to cry about it?! What's wrong with you?!"

"I'm not crying! I just have something on my eye!" She rubbed her tears away as she said that.

"That's the shittiest excuse I ever heard!"

"Guys?" Mina and the rest appeared before them and [____] immediately hid her face from the group to get herself together. "Is everything alright? You were kinda taking a while and [____]'s bodyguard became worried."

"Bro!" Kirishima, not reading the situation as well as the rest, stepped in between the pair to wrap his arm around Bakugo's shoulders. "Wanna head to the arcade? I got you!!"

"Sure, whatever."

While Kirishima took him somewhere else, Mina handed [____] her school bag. "You sure you're okay?"

"Yeah...Thanks for worrying about me..."

"He didn't make you cry on purpose, did he?"

"No, it's not what you think..." The sound of the vending machine accepting payment made [____] forget all about it for a second. "Oh! Your drinks!"

Todoroki grabbed the four boxes of strawberry milk from the delivery bin and handed two of them to the girls. "Here."

"Thank you so much, Todoroki! How did you know this was my favorite brand?!" Mina gladly took the drink from his hand.

'I haven't tried this brand before...' [____] tentatively did the same.

"Do you want me to buy you a different one?" Todoroki asked and [____] became a little amazed at how considerate he was being.

'Can he read my mind?!'

"No, this one is good! Thank you. I'm sorry I got distracted but I could buy them next time, I promise! If that's okay."

"Next time." He repeated.

"Hey, [____]! Wanna go catch up to those brutes at the arcade?! We can probably get Kiri to pay for us if we tell him it's the manly thing to do!"

She would of agreed, if it wasn't for her cell phone alarm that reminded her to buy some school supplies. "Actually I gotta buy some stationary items..I don't have a lot of school stuff, so..."

She recalled only seeing one pencil in her school bag, despite having a pack of five before. Knowing how easily she looses them, buying a few more packs then was be the smartest thing to do.

"I'll go with you, [____]." Todoroki mentioned. "I need to buy something too."

Mina's eyes sparkled at the setting that was unfolding around them. "Okay! Well, I entrust you, Todoroki! Take good care of her and bring her back to us safely! We'll be at the arcade on the bottom floor!"

"Don't I have a security guard for that?" [____] looked at the tall man, who was sucking on the straw of the strawberry milk box. 'Did Todoroki get an extra one for him, too?'

"[____], lets go." Her tall classmate gestured over his shoulder using his thumb to where the nearest store was located.

"Okay."
