Today was not your day. It had started badly and gotten worse. You'd had a bad dream, so when you woke from the nightmare, you already had sleepy tears rolling down your cheeks. You'd merely groaned, wiping them away with balled-up fists. As you dragged yourself out of bed, you'd told yourself that- hey, it can't get any worse! It's gonna be okay. But that was just a lie, wasn't it?
Turns out that, not only did you not sleep well, but your upsetting dreams had last longer than normal, and you'd slept clean through your alarm. Your classmates had just assumed you'd gone early- sometimes you did, if you needed to get something finished, so none had bothered waking you. It wasn't their job to check you got to class on time, but still...
Gazing at your alarm clock told you that you were already an hour late to class, and you'd only just rolled out of your blanket next. You scrambled to get ready, mind racing for an excuse to give Aizawa-Sensei, but you already knew it would be in vain, he'd end up giving you a punishment anyway.
In a rush to get ready and get some breakfast, you'd spilled milk all down your shirt, and had to go change, taking up yet more time. You'd stubbed your toe on your bedroom door and after convincing yourself to heat style your hair, managed to leave an angry red burn mark on your hand. And you hadn't even made it to class yet.
After creeping into class, and obviously being caught, you'd been yelled at by Aizawa for a solid 5 minutes, he only relented because he could see you were remorseful enough, and he felt guilty for making you so upset. Though the mess hadn't ended there. Your only pen had ran out halfway through lesson and you gained another lecture from Iida before he finally gave you a pen to borrow. He hadn't been subtle, the whole class had heard, even Aizawa-Sensei, not that he had said anything this time.
Lunch brought no reprieve, since you managed to get tripped, and drop your food everywhere. Of course, it had been an accident, but still, everyone had seen and it was beyond embarrassing. The rest of the afternoon had gone mostly without incident, but after class, Aizawa had pulled you to the side to let you know what your punishment would be. You supposed it wasn't really too bad, compared with what he could've given you. Two hundred laps of the main school building.
For someone who doesn't enjoy running, it took a fair while – 200 laps was indeed a lot after all. By the end of your running, you were tired, hungry, thirsty, sweaty, and having so long to mull over how awful the day had been, you were about ready to cry. You slouched through the common room, not paying any mind to who was there. If anyone greeted you as you passed through to the elevator, you wouldn't have known.
As it happened, someone did take notice of you, not that you realised that as you entered the elevator and rode it up to your floor, making a beeline for your own dorm. You threw yourself onto your bed as soon as you got into your dorm, not even bothering to close the door behind you, you were just drained today. Your eyes burned, dangerously close to spilling tears, and your muscles ached with exertion.
You weren't sure exactly how long you had laid there for, it didn't seem like long, before there was a faint knocking at your door, left ajar. Through stinging eyes, you peeked up from the pillows to glance at who was casting their shadow from the hall into your room.
"(Y/N)? Are you feeling alright?" Peeking into your dorm was Mina Ashido. Of course, you probably should've suspected it would be your girlfriend coming to check up on you. After all, you hadn't spoken with her much today- That was normal and neither of you minded, but she just wanted to check in on you.
"Hm? I'm okay." You responded to her, but even through your darkened room, it was probably pretty obvious that you weren't in fact okay.
"Hmm..." She stared at you for a long moment, squinting into the shadows of your room as he mind turned over, trying to work out what would be best for you right now. It seemed a light bulb lit over her head, you could faintly see her pink features stretch into a smile. "Oh! Stay right here!"
She quickly darted off and you almost snorted. It wasn't exactly like you were going anywhere. You merely let yourself slump back down into the unruly sheets as Mina's footsteps quickly disappeared down the hall as she- well, you had no idea what she was doing but you surely would soon.
It had been maybe five or so minutes before you heard footsteps approaching again. You assumed it was Mina, and your assumption was quickly proven correct.
"I'm back!" Your pink girlfriend chirped from the doorway and you rolled over to gaze upon her, since she had so clearly been on a mission. She beamed at you from the doorway. Her smile really was infectious, your cheeks heated to a blush in response. You really couldn't ever resist her, and it was admittedly nice to have your sweet lover come check up on you.
"What's this?" You asked as she stooped, balancing what she was holding with one arm. She flicked the switch on the plug she crouched to and the fairy lights strung around your room came to life in warm and cool shades of pink and blue light.
"The perfect way to cheer up a sad girlfriend!" Mina cheered with pride, kicking your door shut behind herself, heading over to you. "Since I noticed you had a bad day and all!"
Her enthusiasm really was infectious. You propped yourself up as she came to perch on the edge of your bed. Balanced oh-so precariously in one hand was a round tray, on top of which sat two steaming mugs topped up with whipped cream and sprinkles, the scent of hot-cocoa wafting to your nose, along with several bars of chocolate, stacked upon each other.
"I had to have Toru raid Rikido's stash for the chocolate, but I'm sure he won't mind!" Mina set down the tray on your bedside table. Nestled under her arm was a galaxy print hoodie, which she tossed to you. "Here!"
It was obviously one of her own, and you gladly took the offer of wearing your girlfriend's hoodie, pulling it on without question, inhaling her sweet bubble-gum scent which lingered on any clothes she wore. You couldn't force back the smile that was breaking out onto your face, Mina really did know the best ways to cheer you up.
"Thank you..." You smiled at her gratefully, and her own only grew wider.
"Anything for you, dummy! But I'm not done yet!" Also in the crook of her arm had been three DVD cases, and she presented them to you proudly. "Movie marathon! Which one first?!"
Truthfully, you were far more interested in her than any of the movies she was offering, but dutifully you scanned over the three titles, tapping the case of your preferred movie.
"Awesome!" She cheered almost instantly, skipping over and setting up your DVD player while you just watched your bubbly girlfriend with admiration. She really was something else, and you really were lucky to have her.
"Come here." You held your arms open for her as she turned back towards you, now with the remote in hand. She didn't hesitate to practically launch into your arms, her own tangling around you for a moment.
"Hey! I wanna be the big spoon!" She protested with a childish pout, a faint giggle being drawn from your lips as she rearranged the pillows and covers, settling herself and pulling you in front of her, so that she could wrap you in a hug from behind.
You relax into her arms, softly leaning against her, head settling against her collarbone in your half-slumped position. She was warm and comforting, and gave you the sense that hey, maybe everything is okay after all, as she nuzzled herself into your hair. The opening credits of the movie began to roll.
"Hey, Mina?"
"Yes?"
"Thank you... So much. I love you."
"I love you more, dummy!"
Yes, the day certainly had gotten much better indeed.
