"(Y/n)." Someone whispered into my ear. I mumbled in response and turned over, pulling my blanket farther over me. "Wake up I have a surprise." I recognized my best friend's voice.

"Hito, I'm trying to sleep." I groaned.

"You're gonna love this I promise." He pulled the blankets off of me. I whined and sat up, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. "Happy birthday." He laid a folded blanket on my lap.

"What's this?" I looked at the blanket then him.

"Open it." He seemed uncharactaristcally smiley.

"You're being weird." I commented carefully unfolding the blanket. I heard a quiet mew from the blanket and looked back at Shinsou with wide eyes. "No." I shook my head.

"Yeah..." He looked away from me.

"Hitoshi Shinsou." I scolded him while unfolding the rest of the blanket. I gasped seeing the small kitten looking up at me.

A/n: This is the cat we got out of an engine block...

I picked up the small animal and held her up to my face. She let out a small meow and I looked back at the insomniac kneeling next to me.

"Idiot." I used my free hand to smack the side of his head.

"Ow- what was that for?!" He asked, glaring daggers into me.

"Where'd you even find her?" I huffed holding the kitten close to my chest.

"I may or may not have..." he mumbled his explanation.

"Hitoshi." I demanded.

"I found her stuck in someone's bike gears." He hung his head.

"So you just brought her to me?" I gave him an over exaggerated confused look.

"Happy birthday?" He shrugged.

"Birthday? What day is it?" I grabbed my phone and looked at the date.

"It's (Your birthday) (Y/n)." He said in a bored tone. I sighed and looked back at him.

"Why am I such an idiot?" I groaned and laid back down.

"You may be an idiot. But you're my idiot." I heard him mumble.

"What?" I felt a slight heat rise in my face.

"You heard that?" He squeaked out.

"Uh-huh..." I nodded hoping he'd explain.

"Oh- uh-... I'm sorry..." He stood up and awkwardly shifted his weight. We sat in an uncomfortable silence. I cleared my throat.

"Hito I uh-" I tried to speak.

"Don't worry about it. I'll just go now. You can forget about that. You're welcome for the kitten." He waved and left my room.

"Hitoshi!" I shouted and lightly set the kitten on my bed and chased after him. "Hitoshi-" I caught up to him.

"I don't know what I was thinking. I was just hoping you might like me back but I was just being a hopeful idiot and- mph!" I cut him off by pulling his lips to mine.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and felt him relax. He eventually kissed back and we pulled away for air. I lightly chuckled and let go of him. There was an adorable blush washing his face as he looked away from me.

"I thought I was being the hopeful idiot." I placed my hand on his cheek making him look at me.

"So this means I didn't accidentally ruin a friendship." He reassured himself.

"No." I shook my head with a soft smile.

A/n: Hehe. That was fun to write. Also I've literally been calling the kitten "Baby" -Update I'm calling her Rat more- so if I keep her that's what I'm naming her. As always; have a good day/night, drink water, eat food, get sleep. You're amazing and i love you! Bye my lovelies!
