Second Person POV
•-•-•-•-•

The kingdom of U.Alia is supposedly one of the safest and richest in all of the land—and, to some extent, this is true.

However, like every province, it has its faults.

You, for example, struggle when it comes to your home life. Especially when it boils down to you not possessing any form of magic, unlike the overwhelming majority of your predecessors.

Little did you know, though, that that one weakness will actually become your greatest strength.

It is currently a bright, sunny day without a cloud in sight, only having the protruding roofs of various buildings to block most of the harsh rays out.

Today is just like every other day, according to Izuku Midoriya—or, rather, that's what he had previously assumed.

The green haired male, a Knight to the royal family, is out on a daily patrol with his partners, Knight Bakugo and Knight Todoroki.

Nothing out of the ordinary seemed to be occurring.

Well, that is until his ears caught wind of a distant cry of pain, causing his head to whip in the direction of the source.

Where you live is in a less populated part of the kingdom, mostly filled with street rats, thieves and the like. The typical cliché, really.

Unfortunately, this means almost anybody could get away with anything in the area.

As of this very moment, you are being thrown to the ground by your father, right in your front yard—on display for everyone to witness.

To keep a long story short, you had been discovered wrapping up a present that you were intending to send to the palace for the knights as a token for their hard work.

This led to your father finding out that you had been doing this for quite some time now, which explained why many of his prized possessions went missing.

You knew from the very beginning that stealing from your father was dangerous, but you figured that the knights were worth the risk. Besides, giving away his items gave you great pleasure considering how nastily he constantly treats you.

However, part of you was starting to regret that decision, as now you were getting the beating of a lifetime.

Those who saw this happening simply turned a blind eye, not caring for your well-being even in the slightest. What goes on between family stays between the family, and same vise versa for those who aren't blood related.

That's just how your portion of the kingdom worked, and there was virtually nothing you could do about it.

You are unable to hold back your winces and whimpers as your father repeatedly hit and kicked you over and over again, feeling the tears threatening to spill as they burn your tired, EC orbs.

The only thought that crossed your mind were your pleas for mercy; begging for the agony to finally go away.

Abruptly, as if your prayers had been answered, the beating suddenly stopped, a thud following close after.

Slowly removing your forearms from your face as you loosely uncurled yourself from your ball formation, you realize that a Knight had galloped over and grabbed your father, knocking the man onto the ground.

You hadn't heard the horse's racing steps due to your brain being so focused on protecting yourself from the pain, and relief instantly washed over you once you saw said Knight.

In the few seconds you had before he moved, you took note of how glorious and handsome the Knight looked perched atop his armored steed. His back was straightened, facial expression hardened as he glared at your father, limbs simultaneously stiff yet relaxed at the same time.

Your gaze trailed along his vibrant, emerald hair, down his freckled cheeks and to his relatively muscular build from underneath his own armor.

You'd be lying if you said you didn't find this man to be attractive.

Without so much as a moment of hesitation, the Knight, Midoriya, jumped off his horse and kicked your father's shoulder to force him back onto the concrete beneath him.

When he proved to be a fighter, Midoriya pinned the adult to the floor, resorting to knocking the man out with his power-laced punch.

See, his magic revolves around power, more commonly known as enhanced strength.

As for his comrades, Bakugo has explosion magic while Todoroki has fire and ice magic.

When Midoriya himself used his magic, his fist had green swirls that glowed surrounding it, and this fact made your eyes widen in astonishment.

You've never seen magic quite like his before—especially not with the vicinity you're so used to living in.

With a sigh, Midoriya stood and glanced back at you, concerned. The sudden eye contact made you panic, thus forcing you to stare at the grass beside you as he rushed over to your side.

He kneeled next to you, on your left, and he softly inquired as his patrol partners arrived, "Are you alright, miss?"

You silently nodded, blatantly refusing to look at your savior.

"What's going on over here?" Knight Bakugo gruffly demands, observing the scene before him.

"This girl was being attacked by that man there," Midoriya informs him, briefly pointing over his shoulder before returning to you. "Do you know who that man is, miss?"

Again, you nod.

"Who was he, then?" Todoroki calmly adds, dismounting from his horse.

"My-My father..." you trail off under your breath, and Midoriya's eyebrows flickered upwards in surprise.

"A case of domestic abuse," he mutters to himself, lifting his hand to his chin as he ponders the scenario, this motion being a habit of his.

"Do you have any other family you can go to?" Bakugo questions, to which you shake your head in disagreement.

"I've got it!" Midoriya exclaims in a whisper. He looks up at you with gentle eyes, "Would it be okay if we took you back to the palace? It would be in your best interest, and considering you don't have any other relatives, it may be safest for you to stay with the royal family until your case can be resolved."

Biting your lower lip as you peer up at him, your heart began to pick up its pace as fear encompassed you, but also a sense of ease.

You feel as if you can trust him, but it still takes every inch of your willpower for you to nod in silent agreement.

You're unsure as to why he offered you to come to the palace for your protection, as that's not what you assumed would happen if any other Knight found you in the same way he did, but you decide it's best not to dwell on it.

His line of thinking may be because the royal family's palace is the most guarded place in the entire kingdom, hence offering you the same amount of protection from your father—at least until you'd be given a place for you to go to to live out the rest of your teen years, such as an orphanage of sorts.

Another potential reason, you believe, is so that the King and Queen could meet you firsthand to get your fully story, as well as being in order to accurately report the incident.

Anyway, with that matter sorted, Midoriya helped you up and brought you back to the palace, leaving Bakugo and Todoroki to finish up the patrol on their own.

After some discussion with the royal leaders, much to your utter dismay in terms of fear, Midoriya brings you to the extra sleeping quarters and assists with setting everything up for you.

"If you ever need anything, a few of the servants are right next door, and I'll likely be around as well, so don't be afraid to reach out to us, okay?" Midoriya tells you, comfortingly tilting his head to the side a little.

You softly hum, sitting yourself on the edge of your bed whilst clasping your hands together.

"A girl named Ochako should be the one you'll be meeting most often, as she will be given the orders to make sure your stay is as cozy as possible for you. She will be the one informing you of meals, activities and other such things," he continues, not tearing his curious gaze from your isolated, malnourished figure.

He scans the mask covering your features, taking note of how only one of your eyes are visible, whilst the rest of your face is hidden by the breathable fabric, intrigued.

He began to wonder why you wore such a garment, but he chose not to pry, not wanting to offend you or come off too nosey.

Then, noticing your tense muscles, he adds with a smile, "Don't worry, she's really nice. She wouldn't even hurt a fly."

This joke prompts a tiny grin from you, to which Midoriya smiles wider at.

"Other than that, everything should be in order. Although, if you're interested, I could take you to the Kingdom Handmaidens for a visit. Ochako is one of them, actually, and I think they would enjoy your company," Midoriya mentions, mildly peaking your attention.

"Possibly," you murmur, merely glancing at him from the corner of your eye.

With a contented nod, he bids you goodnight and leaves you to your thoughts.

Timeskip - One Month Later

You have been staying with the royal family longer than you originally expected, the time being just shy of two months, as your case is taking longer to resolve than usual domestic violence cases do.

Knight Midoriya has continued to check on you whenever he could, making it his personal mission to know and understand you. To become the friend you so desperately seemed to need.

Most of your spare time has been spent in the garden, where you could feed, watch and "communicate" with the wildlife. This is something Midoriya immediately took note of, soon taking interest in your hobby and asking about it.

This was what had ultimately drawn you closer to him, allowing you to let down your barriers for a short moment in order to rant about your knowledge of all the little creatures you two come across.

Soon enough, Midoriya became the only human that you could have a face-to-face interaction with without freaking out in one way or another, and he definitely took pride in that detail.

That brings the time to the present, where you were explaining the difference between two very similar animals, Midoriya intensely focused on every word that fell past your lips.

You both were wandering through a nearby forest during one of Midoriya's days off, ducking under branches and stepping over thick tree roots.

That's when disaster struck.

It was too late when the both of you realized you had gotten too close to a particular animal that you definitely didn't want to mess with.

The Japanese Wild Boar.

(AN: I know this animal is likely not in a forest close to where BNHA originally takes place, but just roll with it for the sake of the story lmao.)

The two of you freeze, and you immediately knew what it was.

It began prepping to start charging at you, and being swift on your feet, you order, "Climb a tree!"

"What..?!" Midoriya requites, still stunned.

"Climb a tree!" you hurriedly repeat, shoving him towards the closest one to him. "Now!"

He snaps out of it and does as told, you attempting to do the same with a different tree right as the boar started to run at you.

Knowing you didn't have enough time with how close the boar is, you grabbed a sharp stick instead, preparing to defend yourself.

Once Midoriya for high up enough, he looked down in horror to see the boar bolting right for you. He was about to hop back down when you suddenly swung the branch at the animal, smacking it across the face so hard that it harshly crashed to the ground.

Having bought yourself some time, you dropped the stick and climbed up a nearby tree, getting over six feet up so the boar couldn't reach you.

Luckily, you had gotten out of the fight unscathed, and the boar got bored and left shortly after you escaped.

You heave a sigh of relief, Midoriya doing the same before he stares at you in shock and admiration.

Your quick thinking and prior knowledge of the boar just saved the both of you, and he was more than just a little impressed.

"She's amazing," he mumbles to himself, blissfully watching as you quietly laugh to celebrate your victory.

If only you could see how beautiful and intelligent you truly are to him.
