"No, no, no! Don't do that!" Denki quickly blurts out, stretching his hands to me momentarily as I hiss in pain before he recoils them. He steps forward again, "Be careful! I've got you!"
"It's no use," I utter through gritted teeth, glaring down at my rubble prison. "My foot's jammed under this shit... I'm stuck."
"No, no, I'll-I'll get you out of there," he persists, clasping my shoulders as he stares directly into my eyes, his own filled to the brim with determination.
I peer up at him with my head tilted towards the ground, my body angled at a mild diagonal as he faces me completely. He continues, "This might hurt a little, but...do you trust me?"
"Do I trust you?" I repeat, incredulous. He nods, and for a moment, I'm stunned by how serious his expression is. Meeting his gaze once more, I earnestly reply, "I do. I trust you with my life, Denki."
He appears to be biting back a grin before he nods once more, temporarily hesitating as he leans in to press a gentle, reassuring kiss to my left cheek. My face bursts into flames as he kneels down, gingerly wrapping his hands around my ankle.
He glances up, his own face resembling a tomato as he silently asks for my permission. Giving him a curt nod, he looks back down to my foot and tightens his grip. Then, with quite a bit of effort, he begins to tug at my leg.
I clench my fists and stare up at the sky as I try to ignore the searing agony that shoots up from my toes, going all the way up to my straightened spine. My teeth dig into my lower lip as I swallow a yelp, body tensed.
Finally, after what felt like forever, Denki managed to free my trapped foot. He fell back from the force, causing me to lose my balance and fall, as well.
I land right beside him with a huff, wincing as my ankle throbs in pulsating waves. Not to mention that now my butt hurts, too.
Denki nervously chuckles, brushing his hair out of his face as he beams at me with a proud glint in his electric orbs, lightly panting. "See? I told ya you could trust me, my beautiful spark!"
I playfully roll my eyes with a tiny giggle before giving him a look, to which he softly laughs at and responds defensively, "Okay, okay! I get it! Not the time for nicknames."
He stands and holds his palms out for me to take. When I do, he pulls me up and supports me on my injured side. With a concerned glance, he states, "Let's get you some help."
After a while of walking—well, more like stumbling, on my part—I clear my throat, resulting in my best friend to meet my gaze.
"Thanks," I mutter, momentarily looking away before returning my focus to him.
"You're welcome," he kindly replies, a cute grin growing on his lips. "I'd do anything for you."
"Heh," I breathe, watching the dirt cast up into the air as I carelessly shuffle my boots against the Earth.
My head swirls as his words replay again and again in my mind, feeling flustered by his not-so-subtle flirtation. His arm around my waist leaves me with butterflies in my stomach, my heart rate increasing at a drastic pace the more I think about it.
Denki's warmth radiates in my direction and it soothes me so much that I can't resist from leaning more into him. His steady breathing hitches a bit at my actions, but he swiftly relaxes and holds me tighter, securing his grip on my left hand, as that's the arm that's around his shoulders.
I find myself wishing to walk slower, just so that we can spend more time together, but I don't act on it. At least, not on purpose.
A grunt escapes my mouth as I accidentally stub my foot against something, sending a flurry of pain up my leg once more, reminding me of my situation. I was so lost in thought that I had hardly been lifting my feet as I went along, so now I'm left to scold myself as Denki peers over at me, worried.
"Are you okay?" he inquires, searching my face for any telltale signs of...of anything, really.
Inhaling calmly, I nod and answer, "Yeah, yeah, I'm-I'm fine. I just wasn't, uh...paying as much attention as I probably should've been."
He pauses our steps and I look at him in confusion. He seems to ponder something for a moment before, in one fluid motion, he picks me up bridal style and continues on his way.
Squeaking from the sudden decision, I grasp onto my left hand with my right as my arm's still looped around his neck, which I bury my face into without any reluctance whatsoever.
"Why did you pick me up?" I quietly question, my voice muffled by his shirt.
He chuckles a little, allowing me to practically listen to the vibrations from him before he responds, "It'll be easier this way for you. And don't worry; you're as light as a feather! This is no biggie for your Pikachu, here!"
As a response, I simply giggle and snuggle up into him even further, content in his loving embrace. Despite this not really being a hug.
Unfortunately, time flies by super fast and we're back with the others like that.
"The hell happened to you?" Bakugo exclaims as we approach the group, who are all gathering nearer.
"That villain cornered me," I explain half-heartedly as Denki sets me down on one of the empty medical beds from the ambulances that had arrived earlier. "Made me think a civilian needed saving, when really, it was just a trap."
"Well, I'm glad you're okay," Midoriya says with a relieved smile. He quickly corrects himself, "—or, I mean, that you will be okay!"
Laughing in gentle amusement at his stuttering, I reply, "Thanks, man."
Denki nuzzles into my shoulder as he now sits beside me, intertwining his fingers with mine as the doctors patch me up to the best of their abilities. Sparks emit from him every now and again, one of them even giving one of the doctor's a light jolt, and all that clouds my thoughts are how adorable he is.
I'm so lucky to have him by my side.
Maybe one day I'll even be able to confess my feelings to him.
