Your POV

"Keep your eyes closed!"
"They are closed, Mina!" I proclaim through a chuckle. "Relax! What's going on, anyway?"
"We already told you!" Kaminari playfully retorts from my left. "It's a surpr—!"
"—A surprise, yes, I know," I interject, giving him a sideways 'glance.' "But what kind of surprise is it?"
"You'll see!" Uraraka chirps, a few paces behind us with a few others from 1-A.
I release a dramatic, exasperated groan, and my friends all snicker in response before we pause, presumably in front of a doorway.
A few seconds later, I'm led by hand into the room, and Mina tells me, "Okay, YN! Open your eyes!"
And so, I do.
What I see immediately causes me to snort, and I have to refrain from going into a complete hysteria at the sight.
On the floor of the 1-A classroom lies Midoriya in a ghost costume. He's covered in horrible SFX makeup that's obviously meant to be representative of slash wounds, and his skin is painted to be discolored, with the darker tones of red and purple being on the lower half of his visible skin.
I can legitimately smell the ketchup of the fake blood from here, but there's something mixed in with it.
"What the fuck is this..?" I manage to inquire, peering at my friends as Midoriya struggles to compose himself enough to where he will still look like a corpse.
"It's a murder mystery!" Tsu replies, and the rest of them cheer, "Surprise!"
"A murder mystery?" I repeat, incredulous as a smile stays glued on my face.
"Yep!" Kirishima excitedly exclaims.
"Here are the rules!" Uraraka begins, lifting up her pointer finger with a determined look. "You must solve the mystery of how Deku died, and you must identify the killer—or killers if there are more than one culprit! You cannot ask any of us, or Deku, for any hints, as you are meant to be a detective!"
She gestures to my costume, and I look down at my body, realizing why this is even happening to begin with.
Everyone in my class knows about my long-time obsession with Sherlock Holmes and crime-solving stories. It's to the point that they weren't even surprised when I dressed up as the man himself for Halloween this year.
So, I pretty much dug my own grave.
Although, it is a grave that I am very enthusiastic about.
Uraraka continues, "While you are solving the mystery, you will also be hunted by the killer, or killers, themselves! So, you need to be careful! The rest of us will leave the room once the game starts, which is in three... Two... One!"
My friends all simultaneously barrel out of the classroom, save for Midoriya, leaving me alone to solve the crime.
My mind shifts into its working mode as I kneel next to Midoriya's "corpse," gathering as many mental notes as I can about his appearance.
Squinting at the fake blood, I mutter, "Is that ketchup mixed with cinnamon..?"
Midoriya peels open one eye and looks at me, mumbling back, "Yes."
A small laugh bursts past my lips as I lightly smack his shoulder, whisper-yelling, "Shut up! You're supposed to be dead!"
He only giggles in response, closing his one eye once again and resuming the role of a dead man.
My eyes trail along his face, throat, and chest, where the most visible injuries are located. They all appear to be the same type of slashes.
I also notice the skin discoloration, which indicates to me that livor mortis has already begun occurring. Therefore, he's been unresponsive anywhere between thirty minutes to twelve hours.
There's blood pooling out from underneath him, and there's some splatters along the wall, which likely indicate towards the throat being slit, as well as a potential struggle.
The next thing I spot are the bloody footprints leading out of the classroom. After making sure there weren't any other clues inside, I exit the begin to follow the trail.
I stare intensely at the footprints as I go along, and that's how I find a small clump of hair stuck in the blood.
Crouching, I gingerly pick it up, and it's a dark grey color. I automatically think that it's fur, since none of my classmates have this specific shade of grey hair.
Shoji has white hair, and Todoroki has half of his hair being white as well, but that's as close as any of my peers in 1-A get to this grey color. There are also some students with black hair, such as Momo and Sero, but even their hair doesn't make a complete match.
I ponder on this dilemma as I continue following the tracks.
Eventually, I'm led to the doorway of the 1-A dorm's lounge area, where I find a piece of cloth lodged in the lock. I examine it, and realize that it's black on one side and red on the other, and that it's soft to the touch. It almost feels regal.
Todoroki swiftly comes to mind, as his costume has a cape with these colors and with this type of material. I'll just have to see if he has a missing spot in said wardrobe piece in order to confirm this suspicion.
And so, I have my first suspect.
One step after another, I keep tracing after the footprint trail, eager to see where it ends.
My thoughts keep drifting back to the clump of hair in my palm, and as I halt before a door—where the bloody footprints finally fade out under—I just gaze at said hair, baffled.
A few moments pass as images of my classmates flash in my mind, eliminating the ones who don't fit—whether that be with their general hair color, or with their costume.
It's not Mina.
It's not Kaminari.
It's not Sero.
It's not Uraraka.
It's not Jiro.
As I inevitably land on one male in particular, the door in front of me snaps open before I'm abruptly yanked into the darkened dorm room.
I let out a startled shriek at the sudden action, but something warm clamps over my mouth to keep me quiet as the door slams shut. Whoever pulled me inside the room has me pinned to the wall beside the doorframe, and whatever is covering my mouth is coming from my left, right in front of the door.
Once my eyes adjust, I'm able to identify the culprits.
Todoroki is the one who has me pinned, and Bakugo has one hand over my mouth with the other lying flat against the wood of the door.
My cheeks immediately burst into flames, and my body stays rigid as Shoto leaned down to my right ear, softly purring, "You're dead, baby."
I blink, unable to connect the dots as to what he's saying as Bakugo smirks, also leaning in—but this time to my left ear.
He whispers harshly, "You're ours now, little detective."
My eyebrows raise as I'm overcome with a huge realization.
I've lost the game.
I solved the crime, but the "killers" had caught me—meaning, I not only lost the game, but I'm also considered "dead."
Then, another realization hits me, this time acting as if it were a brick to the nose.
This entire game was a setup from the very start.
I was never meant to win this game.
Well, not in the way that I had originally anticipated, at least.
Honestly, though, considering how things are looking in this moment, I'm not too upset by that fact.
So, I did actually win.
Fuckers.
