Training Montage

Week One

Classes went on as normal, and at the end of the day Bakugo and Sakura would meet up at the gym she reserved for the hour. Bakugo, with his explosive personality, stood impatiently as she waited for Sakura's arrival. He had made it their first, and he was pretty annoyed of waiting.

Finally, Sakura had come through the high window, interested in making an entrance today for some reason. Her ping wings resembled her brother's red as she descended from above, landing in front of Bakugo a little amusement in her eyes. However, Bakugo could see the determination today, after getting her ass kicked the day before, he looked at her with a mix of annoyance and curiosity.

"You better now slow me down with this training, Birdbrain. We are here to train, not to play around." Sakura just scoffed at this comment. If she was planning on playing around she wouldn't had asked him to come in the first place.

"I'm here to get stronger, not babysit Poprock." Bakugo smirked at her, even with her mess yesterday, he was interested in the girls spirit. Bakugo just cracked his knuckles as he looked over the other blond.

"No wings today. You wanted to work on hand to hand, can't be relying on your wings if you're aiming for blows." Sakura blinked and tilted her head. Her wings were a big part of her movement, and she couldn't help but bring it up.

"My wings are a pretty big part of my fighting though." She pointed out, as Bakugo nodded in agreement.

"You need to learn to adapt, Birdbrain. Not just rely on what comes easy." Bakugo brought up a genuine good point when he had finished his statement. "Now let's try what we did yesterday again."

The two circled each other, tension in the air notable. Bakugo was the first one to make a move, throwing a quick jab at Sakura to which she easily dodged. The gym echoed with the sound of their movements as Bakugo constantly aimed blows while Sakura played defensive. She was evading his hits easily.

Bakugo's explosive temper fueled his punches, and Sakura relied on her agility and reflexes she learned from her brother. It became apparent that, without the aid of quirks their hand-to-hand combat skills were put to the test.

"Keep up your guard. Don't let me catch you off balance," Bakugo barked, landing a quick kick that she narrowly avoided. Sakura just focused, anticipating Bakugo's moves. Soon she switched to the offense, attempting to land hits herself, this time she used her speed and agility, instead of power like she did the day before. Finally landing a few calculated strikes. In one day, Sakura made decent progress.

Bakugo grumbled at this a little, yet it didn't stop him from being impressed. "Not bad Birdbrain. You actually did something to me today." He wiped his brow, the two actually starting to sweat.

"What can I say, I have a good teacher." Sakura glanced over at him, a smile on her face. Bakugo would never admit to himself that he actually enjoyed the sparing today, feeling as himself got better from training with his quick classmate.

Midnight peeked into the gym as the hour came to a close, reminding the two that the Gym would need vacancy soon. As they got ready to leave, Sakura walked up to Bakugo, who glanced at her confused. She was standing uncomfortable close, and he just furrowed his brows.

"Bakugo." Sakura said in a low tone. Bakugo wasn't sure what to say, it was the first time she actually called him by his name and with her so close Bakugo was almost lost in the gold shimmer of her eyes.

"What." He said tightly, blinking at her as Sakura just stood there, her pink feathery wings furled behind her.

"Thanks!" Sakura said with a smile. She handed him a pink feather. "Doubt you'll use it but, keep this on you yea? Let's just say it's a good luck charm, if you believe in that humbo jumbo stuff."

Bakugo took the feather, almost tempted to explode it with how annoying she was giving it to him. However, for some reason, his heart felt like it was racing. He glanced down at the feather confused. "Good luck charm? Yeah right, I don't need to rely on luck Birdbrain."

"Call me Sakura but be sure to keep that to ourselves." Sakura winked at him with a finger to her mouth. Bakugo blinked at her again, somewhat speechless from what she was saying. Sakura's name wasn't known to the public, they only knew Hawk's sister by her nick name 'Feathers.' "See you tomorrow, Poprock!"

She said finally, leaving Bakugo in the gym alone. The spikey hair blond glanced at the feather she handed to him, and before thinking for a moment he put it into his bag, snuggly tucking it into a schoolbook.

Week One: Yukina

Yukina had decided to continue her daily spars with her brother, but after she'd take to training her ice. Shoto had always been better than her when controlling his ice side, he was always so precise. Yukina worried she would fall behind.

Yukina had made her way to the training grounds the Todoroki Twins usually spent their time at. Every night she would be there, spending countless hours honing her abilities. She had a determination fueled by a desire to finally prove herself. Not only to her family, but to the people of the world. She wanted to stand beside Shoto, as an equal, she never wanted to be in the shadow of her brother.

She was alone in the frozen training ground, the cold air caused by her quirk fogged the area briefly. She wanted to master this ability as much as Shoto had. He was father's favorite, the prodigal twin of the two. Despite their shared training Yukina had felt a constant pressure to live up to standing next to her brother.

She would never confess this to Shoto though, she just swore to push through, to catch up to him on her own. She focused on these thoughts as she formed ice constructs, manipulating the frozen training area, Yukina couldn't shake the feeling of inadequacy. Shoto's mastery of ice and fire, even if he didn't use it, had overshadowed her every effort. However, Yukina sought to use this self-doubt into push herself further into her training.

Towards the end of the first week, as the sun was setting, Yukina had sat down watching the sky. She sat alone for a while as Shoto wondered up curiously.

"So, this is where you've been going after our sparing in the courtyard." He had broken the silence, glancing up at the melting ice structures. Yukina glanced over her shoulder as she looked at her twin. "Looks like you've been working hard."

Yukina let out a cold breath, visible ever so briefly. She looked back to the sky and spoke. "I can't let myself fall behind, not when you are so advanced. I want to master this quirk," she let ice form on her hand as she glanced down at it.

Shoto looked over his sister, noticing the turmoil she was in. He had wandered up and sat next to her. "You don't have to prove anything to anyone Yukina. Least of all to me. You have your own strengths. Your own unique abilities."

Yukina scoffed at this; his message was slightly hypocritical. "You're the one trying to prove themselves to the old man." A small silence fell over them before Yukina continued.

"I've been thinking about us not using our flame sides, and I understand why. But fuck him yea? It's not his to control." She glanced back up at the structure, raising her right arm. "I'm going to prove to Endeavor that I can thrive with my own skill. Because this is my quirk. Ours." She sent flames from her right side melting the structure she had form with ease.

Yukina turned to her brother who just looked at her thoughtfully. She stood up brushing off her pants. "I don't expect you to follow suit. But I'm not going to let Endeavor's pushy attitude hold me back. He can't raise me to be his weapon. I'm going to be a hero, and I hope you'll be by my side no matter what you chose for yourself." She reached down a hand to the older twin, who grabbed it.

He wasn't going to rebuttal her choice; he didn't want to fight her on this when she's the only family he's connected with. "Yeah." He said thoughtfully. This would be a different path for the siblings, but Shoto was still head strong. She smiled, happy that Shoto didn't seem angry with her choice. With both halves she'd sure to win the sports festival, even if it went against the boycott the twins were doing.

"Thanks." Was all she said as the two head back to the house. Not another word was exchanged between the two. Shoto just having flashes from the past, as he held his hand up to his scar.

Week Two

The second week Feathers kept her promise. She had asked Midoriya if he had any preference of meeting spots, and All Might suggested the field on school grounds. In fact, the Number One hero decided to tag along, hoping to witness. The first she did when they were settled on the school field was handing Izuku a feather.

"Keep this close, it's the only way I can access connecting to you emotionally. Well, besides making you fall for me." Sakura said with a wink. Izuku blinked briefly, a bright pink blush spread across his face. He snagged the pink feather and covered his face. Sakura backed up and thought how to start off the training.

"Alright, I suppose we should recreate the scenario in a way." Sakura mentioned a finger to her chin. "Not in an actual stage scenario, but in an emotional way." She had made sure to bring a punching bag. "Before I start, I really dislike using my Manipulation on my friends, and barely use it on villains at times. It feels like I'm taking away free will ya know? So, for my sake, I need you to confirm out loud that you are okay with me 'messing with your mind' as to say."

Izuku tilted his head. It was a wonder why; her quirk was a useful one. However, the green haired hero-in-training understood. All Might was watching from the sidelines, and even the Number One hero could recognize her feelings on the subject.

"It is okay for you to use your quirk on me, Feathers. I want to be able to hone this power I obtained. So please, if your quirk can help me, use it!" Izuku had said to her, as Sakura gave a small smile. Verbal confirmation always relieved the stress she'd feel, she would never want to scare off her classmates with her abilities.

She focused in on the feather close to Midoriya, briefly closing her eyes as she focused on projecting some thoughts. Midoriya. Izuku flinched briefly, the unexpected voice coming so suddenly. I need you to focus, the worry and stress I feel from you won't help in this situation. Remember the exact moment you saw me standing in front of that villain. She stopped, allowing those thoughts to slowly flood the mind of Izuku. Remember what it felt when you powered up your quirk, when you were aiming to save me, when you went to hit the man. When your fists connected.

Recall when you powered up, let that energy flow through you. This punching bag is the same target. A living being, and you want to subdue them, not kill them. Izuku glanced towards the bag that Sakura was pointing to. The more he looked at it, he was more convinced it was indeed a villain he was to target to capture using his quirk. Was this the power of her wings? Sakura continued as she focused once more. Use your quirk, Capture the villain Infront of you, before he hurts someone else.

Instinctively Izuku focused on powering up his quirk, letting him focus on holding back. He didn't want to kill the villain, he needed to capture them. He would aim to knock him out, not by breaking any bones in the process. He swung and All Might, who was sitting a couple meters away leaned forward, holding his breath as his fist connected with the bag.

Sakura had leapt back, to avoid getting hit herself. The bag was launched a few feet, of course in the eyes of Midoriya he saw himself launching that villain they had encountered in the USJ. Sakura had flown over to the training bag, humming as she looked over. She sent a mental thought his way, one without the Empathic feelings. 'You're pretty good you know that? The mentality when you threw that kick. . . Open your eyes Midoriya, you didnt break anything.'

Izuku's eyes wavered and he shook his head. He rubbed his forehead, he looked at the fist he used. It almost felt as he was in a brief trance, but he could feel everything that happened, control himself. He just felt influenced and determined. His arm wasn't broken, just like the first time during the encounter. He made a gripping motion, no pain was felt.

"You did it." Sakura said with a smile, as she pushed up the punching bag. He held back enough to not break the seam of the 'villain.' Izuku's eyes widened, he looked at his hands, he could still feel the flow of One for All within him. It slowly faded as he thought about it. "It's a start, I hoped to kind of allow you to get a feel of how your quirk flows within you. I could feel the rush of energy when you activated it."

Sakura hummed as she looked over to where All Might was sitting. Was that how the Number One hero felt when using his power on a daily? All Might had stood up and wandered over, impressed that Sakura was able to at least do this much.

Izuku beamed at Sakura with gratefulness. "I got the idea of how I was able to hold back. I wasn't exactly using One for All at its full 100% Capacity when I went for the punch! I only used a small portion. . . Wow. I didn't break my arm doing it as well. So, I just have to practice using One for All at a lower percentage, something I can manage." Midoriya clenched his hand as he looked up at his mentor, who had finally made his way all the way over.

"I swear to you All Might, when the Sports Festival comes, I'll be able to show the world. I am here!" Izuku, with his newfound determination turned to Sakura in thanks. Sakura was just glad she was able to assist, and she wasn't done yet. There was still another school week where they would be able to work more on it, hoping by the end Sakura wouldn't need to use her quirk.

Week Two: Yukina

With the revelation of her deciding to hone both halves her quirk, Yukina practiced balancing the two. She was always good with controlling her flames, however when using her ice she was a bit rough. Yukina would practice after dinner, aiming to not set the whole area on fire.

"Gasp, using your flames? Somethings ignited within you." Yukina rolled her eyes as she looked over her shoulder. Feathers was perched on the roof nearby, crouched and looking down at her. Yukina didn't appreciate the bad pun that the winged girl made, but Feathers just had a bright smile on her face.

"What is it?"

"Nothing thought you'd want some company. I bet Shoto isn't really appreciative of you breaking your honorable pact, not that he shows it, your relationship did seemed a little on edge though. My wings were tingling around you two." Sakura just tilted her head to her housemate, before landing gracefully next to the Icy hot girl. Yukina didn't quite understand her wings tingling but she pairs her no minds

Yukina did look down at her hand at this point. Shoto was pretty quiet around her today, and even if she didn't bring up the topic again, Shoto never felt so distant. She looked over to Feathers who was just standing barefoot out on the training field.

"I made the point of it being my choice." Yukina started, bringing up the subject. "If I have these abilities, this flexibility, why should they be put to waste on the sidelines." That actually shook something in Feathers. Reminding her restrictions she puts on her own quirk.

Not that she let that show. Like her brother Sakura was good at hiding her real feelings behind a smile. A mask, it came even more easy to her when she could feel a wave of emotions come off the people she were crowded near. In this moment she felt the desire to grow within Yukina, even without focusing in on her feathers.

Sakura had this tendency, she usually knew how people were feeling based on their body language. Not only that with her quirk when someone was close enough she couldn't help but feel what they did. Sometimes she couldn't tell if she was feeling anything at all, it was probably why Hawks didn't take her out in crowds too much. The emotions overwhelmed her when she was young.

She shook her head and looked over to Yukina again, who's was still just watching her with a brow raised. Right I was talking to her. Her focus returned as she spoke up again.

"Well if you hone all of your quirk, you'll already have an advantage on your brother. But that doesn't mean you'll make it to the finals. Be sure to watch your step. Crows are bad omens." She mentioned nodding towards the birds that were perched on the tree near by. Yukina followed her gaze, she rolled her eyes, not believing in the superstition. When she turned back however Feathers was no longer there, and she was alone again.

She swore to herself she was going to reach finish on top of the sports festival. Feathers was just another obstacle in her way, and she would burn it down.
